Here is the article on the Giants cutting payroll although it lists it at a $10 million cut and that they might not sign ANY of their free agents which includes Rich Aurilia, Bentio Santiago, J.T. Snow, Jose Cruz Jr., Tim Worrell, and Sidney Ponson. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1633528

Now Bonds' salary is listed at $16 million next year but $5 million of that is deferred making his salary $11 million. But when he signed this contract he got a signing bonus of $10 million which $4 million of is paid in 2004 bringing the money he will earn next year to $15 million. Hmmmm. Okay ya probably means nothing because baseball contracts are guarenteed and since there are other ways to cut payroll but that's an interesting coincidence there. One thing in his contract also is it can be voided after 2005 if he doesn't have a certain number of plate appearances so they wouldn't be on the hook for $18 million he'd earn in 2006 if he did retire before then. They will be on the hook for $20 million in 2005 though no matter what unless they reach some sort of settlement. Actually that $20 million figure in 2005 is probably why they need to cut payroll.

Gee what a guy you wanna look up to huh? So Lowe says he does that every game? I really didn't need to know the guy likes play with his dick after every win. I can't believe I'm gonna says this...LET'S GO YANKEES!!!! The assholes don't deserve to have their curse ended.

Not really a spoiler, but I'm putting it in tags anyway. It has to do with the apparent quality of the show, so read at your own risk (again, nothing on the show is being spoiled). Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Let's just say I'm still holding out hope that this show is false. Not likely since it's on Meltzer's site, but holding out hope. Jason Errr yes that isn't a spoiler. If its on Meltzer's site its legit. The final segment is a very stupid WWE "comedy" segment. Don't think that's really spoiling anything but that's probably why it did sound fake.

Ultimo Dragon vs. Tajiri Undertaker vs. Chuck Palumbo Orlando Jordan vs. Big Show Zach Gowen vs. Shannon Moore Brock Lesnar vs. Debuting Wrestler Chris Benoit & A.P.A. vs. A-Train & Basham Brothers

Edit: Nevermind I see Rajah has them. I didn't believe it not for the ending segment but that the ending segment of a show would actually involve Eddie.

Hmmm seven years to become a free agent? Damn I seriously never would have guessed it took that long to become a free agent.
-
Fifth-year? But he's played six. I think Gammons might be wrong. Just by example Mike Lowell also debuted in '98 and is a free agent. Another example is Erubiel Durazo who debuted in '99 and is arbitration eligible. Edit: I'm trying to dig up sources on all of this but specifically for Vazquez, Lowell, and Carlos Beltran (all debuted in '98) I've seen different sources say they are arbitration eligible and other say they are free agents. Any Expos, Marlins, or Royals fans wanna clear this up?
-
No he's played six years (debuted in '98) so he is eligible for free agency. Player's who have played five years are arbitration eligible. There are some variables like how much the player played and such but that's a pretty good guideline to go by.
-
Vazquez is a free agent. Why go after Foulke? What the Phillies aren't going to pick up Jose Mesa's option? I had typed out an almost complete list of free agents...and accidently deleted it. Maybe later I'll type out the major names but definently not gonna bother with a complete list again.

Yes before the last four years since MLB went the divisional format the A's had won at least one series in six of their nine playoff appearances.
-
Two of them were. In 2000 they forced Game 5 with a win Game 4 to tie the series. This year and 2001 were the 2-0 failures and last year they lost the first game, won two, and then lost two. I think Al is right with bad luck. Think about it the team's last World Series win was overshadowed by an earthquake so didn't really get to celebrate that one. They are definently still a winning team next year and the year after that with the Big Three still around but unless Steve Schott (A's owner) finally stops worrying about making a profit only and at least gives the A's an average payroll (fat chance) they aren't going to be getting any better.

I don't know if I should happy or sad I'm the only one win team that has out scored his opponents. Anyone going to add up the points for bravesfan's contest this week?
-
Triple H isn't gong to wrestle again the rest of the year so its the WWE being lazy, probably intentionally, about changing their advertising when plans change. Don't worry he'll get his title back at Royal Rumble.

So making an ass of yourself is just having fun? Okey dokey. Gee I don't remember Derek Jeter grabbing his dick and flipping off the opposing dugout after every Yankee series win.
-
Showboating? OMG HE PUMPED HIS FIST AFTER A WIN IN GAME 2! He should die for such an act!!! How about Derek Lowe grabbing his balls and flipping off the A's dugout? Gee what a classy team the Red Sox are. What the fuck did the A's ever do to Derek Lowe? Oh and I'd say karma got Johnny Damon tonight for his comment after the Red Sox went down 2-0 that Boston restuarants should poison the A's players when they are in town. Joke or not another show of Red Sox class.
-
Congratulations Red Sox. I'm not gonna even read the replies here. My heart has been ripped out. This is worse than Kirk Gibson's homerun. I didn't have the heart to angry at what happened. I wish they had gotten swept now. That wasn't worth it. It wasn't worth being tortured like that. This is horrible. This goes deeper than losing another series. This might cost the A's future in Oakland. Its way too long and convulted to go into right now. They are facing an absolutely miserable offseason, one far worse than two years ago. I'm gonna go

Um dude it the rumors were started a local Boston t.v. station. The Chronicle also owns part of the San Francisco Giants and has never been known for exactly being fair to the A's. No other Bay Area paper reported the story and again the story itself notes a quote that there was no incident. Oh and Cowboy Up has always sounded very queer.
-
Okay your a moron. They were reporting rumors started by the Boston media and then report a quote saying there was no brawl. Hey but if Red Sox fans said it happened it must be true! Hey you know I heard a rumor when the Red Sox played the A's earlier in the year that some Red Sox went to a nightclub in the Castro district in San Francisco and Kevin Millar was seen in a bathroom stall giving it to Todd Walker up the ass while yelling "COWBOY UP!" So that's where it came from.
-
I thought Test & Steiner were doing a gay gimmick. Test after all obviously gave him some good man loving since he dumped Stacy.
-
Nice of you not to point out that part Jango. Red Sox fans have such active imaginations.
