I'd say get an eight-ball and a couple of hookers and you'll meet plenty of wrestlers.

Choken, both are pitchers...Harang has showed flashes of being a good pitcher but with the A's pitching he was really without a spot here. He could be a decent 3rd or 4th starter down the road. Valentine was actually being considered as a future closer of the A's but maybe they cooled on him.

Yup just heard it...WOO HOO! Well actually I don't know how much his numbers have been padded by playing in the Great American Homerun Park. A's give up Aaron Harang (who's currently in the minors) and minor leaguer Joe Valentine.

Great move by the Red Sox getting Scott Williamson and I was praying the A's would try to get him as they have zero depth in their middle relief right now and I think is an even bigger concern than their lack of offense. The only bad thing for the Red Sox in this is the Yankee will definently make a move to counter this. The Red Sox now suddenly have a great bullpen.

    Bowden+Boone FIRED!

Renegotiate? This is MLB not the NFL and there is no such thing. The closest thing to renegotiating is talking about a contract extension. All contracts in MLB are guarenteed and you can't lower a player's salary to fit your needs. Not saying its right but its the way it is so the Reds are stuck with Larkin's deal unless they trade him. Edit: Wait isn't Larkin's deal over after this season? Okay nevermind they could just re-sign him at a smaller salary and at his age no one is going to throw big money at him.

Ah, the good old days of Jericho CRZ recap: CHRIS MONDAY JERICHO v. DEAN MALENKO in a Never Again match - Jericho comes to the ring in a kimono - well, why the hell not? Dean powerwalks to the ring, uncharacteristically NOT adjusting his wristbands in the process. Jericho dropkicks Malenko as he enters the ring and we start off on the outside. Pounding, and barricade meeting, Malenko thrown back in, Jericho climbs to the rop but Malenko kicks him on the way down. Now it's Malenko with the punches. Whip into the ropes but Jericho holds on and Malenko hits the canvas. Rollup for 1, reversal. Tony tells us exciting Rodman/Malone highlights later tonight. Malenko punches away and now there's a whip to the corner. Jericho reverses and sits Malenko on the top turnbuckle. Dean shakes him off, Jericho flips. Supersunset flip by Malenko but Jericho is up and trying for the Liontamer. Tony's trying to differentiate between a Boston Crab and a Liontamer - gag. Dean grabs the bottom rope. Jericho springboard dropkicks Malenko off the apron to the floor. Jericho follows up with a plancha, and since nobody's talking, we can probably get away with an ad break. WCW will be in Beaumont, Baton Rouge, Alexandria, and Shreveport! WCW Road Wild is 8 August! And Travis Tritt will be there! 1, 2, no! Jericho is still in control, though. Knife-edge chop (woooo!). Malenko with a high knee to take over. Into the corner, whip, reverse, reverse, foot up, gobehind, reverse, Malenko with a release suplex. 1, 2, no. This is too damn fast for me - and that's how I like to watch it! Running lariat by Malenko. Suplex - no, Jericho reverses into an inverted suplex. Lionsault! Jericho rolls him over but only gets 2. Jericho attempts a suplex, reverse, elbow, reverse, counter, Malenko with a double underhook into a (not) powerbomb. Texas cloverleaf attempt is on - yes it is! Jericho grabs the rope. Malenko with a bodyslam and he's climbing the ropes. Jericho runs the rope and crotches Malnko. Superplex attempt is countered with - well Tenay called it a DDT but it looked more like a faceslam. 1, 2, Jericho grabs the bottom rope just in time. Jericho rolls to the outside - and we see him putting on some knux. As Jericho walks in, Dean is stomping a mudhole into him - twice Malenko pushes away referee "Blind" Shooter Curtis, the second time poking him in the eyes. Malenko turns to the ref and Jericho winds up. Malenko ducks and hits a belly-to-back suplex - and Jericho drops the knux. Dean is happy to put them on his own fist and LEVEL Jericho. Of course, now Curtis sees the international object and disqualifies Malenko (9:21) - so the story goes, Malenko will not get another chance at Jericho again.

Giant/Muta recap by G.P. Ryan on the RSPW messge boards, Nash/Steiner recap by CRZ (slashwrestling.com): The Giant vs. The Great Muta Randy Savage (w/Liz) chimes in from the crowd, saying he'll take care of Giant blah blah. While Muta and Giant circle each other, the NWO (Wolfpack) music plays and Eric Bischoff comes out. Bischoff ejects all of the announcers except Tony. Muta puts on an armbar for first contact more than minute in, Giant shoves him away. I'm guessing here that Bischoff is trying to make like Joey Styles with the rapid-fire play-by-play. Giant comes back with a forearm in the corner that sends Muta outside to regroup. Eric says Savage will have his way with Giant. Eric says he missed Tony. Giant delivers some forearms, and Muta goes outside again. Muta does some stuff, and runs the ropes into a boot to the head, and he rolls out and crawls under the ring and out the other side. Two dropkicks aren't sold much, Giant misses a clothesline and gets dropkicked in the knee. Muta covers for 2, and gets tossed off. Eric asks Tony if he and J.J. are on the same diet plan. Muta hits a chop from the top, and when he goes for it again, Giant grabs him by the throat when he lands. Giant blocks the mist and hits the Choke Slam. WINNER: The Giant, at 5:58 1/2* -- 3/4* WHITE THUNDER (with Midajah) v. KEVIN NASH in a straitjacket match - well, at least by doing play-by-play for THIS match, it's just LIKE I'm extending my string of not doing play-by-play - yuk yuk yuk. "Cut the music! Bill Goldberg and Kevin Nash - I'm gonna tell you the difference between me and you two guys. See at New Blood Risin', the highlight of your night will be beatin' the hell out of each other. The highlight of MY night is when I leave the show because I never go home alone, because I'm (hung like Holmes), and that's why all my freaks know there's nothing finer than doin' the six(tyniner) with Scott Steiner." Sure, NOW they cut to a Gordon Solie sign. No ref for this match, no opening bell - we'll just guess. Nash with a knee, right, into the ropes, sidewalk slam, leg hooked - no, see, there's no ref. Nash brushes his hair back, right, brush hair back, knee, knee, knee, brush hair back, right, brush hair back, elbow, brush hair back, elbow, brush hair back - OH MAN!! HE'S FRAMING THE ELBOW!!!!!! Nash pulls his pants up and puts a foot on the neck. Midajah gets up on the apron and pulls Nash off by his hair. Steiner with an uppernut. Belly-to-belly suplex by Steiner. HE tries for a pin, 'cause he's stupid. OH BOY! Very special interview on Thunder with Vince Russo! It'll be Russotastic, you can damn well bet! And I'LL be here to make fun of it! Into the ropes, Steinerline, kiss the bicep, drop the elbow. Pushups for Steiner. Kick to the side. Kick. Kick. The pace has slowed to "deliberate." Steiner tosses Nash out of the ring - and follows. Nash put in the barricade. Nash put back in the ring. Standing on the neck. Steiner with words for the crowd. Steiner stomps. Nash put in the corner, kick, kick, kick, right, whip into the opposite corner, Nash puts up a boot, mounts him, right, right, right, right, right, brushes his hair back, and pulls up his pants. Into the ropes, big boot, brush hair back. Scoop - Steiner fighting it - into a bearhug, sorta - Nash walks over to the corner and drops him snake eyes style. Got him in a choke - Midajah back in the ring and with a chair - Scott Hall-style chokeslam, Midajah with the SOFTEST chairshot in the world. Nash turns around, brushes back his hair and grabs her. Brushing his hair back - TRUCKSTOP POWERBOMB!! Turning to Steiner - oh, but here comes RICK WOOF WOOF. Ah nuts. Forearm, forearm, right, right, into the ropes is reversed, big boot by Nash, brush hair back, going to powerbomb Rick but Scott has the chair - WHACK. Scott motions to Rick to get the straitjacket - then puts Nash in the Steiner Recliner. Rick puts Nash in the straitjacket while this is going on - hey, how's the Cat feel about this? Rick and Scott manage to figure out the buckles and secure Nash - then tie up the sleeves. Steiner almost goes out after somebody throwing trash at him. Somebody decides maybe Steiner's music should be played and we should cut this off. We'll cal that the end. (6:03) TRAINER DANNY YOUNG tries to check on Midajah but Steiner chases him out of the ring. We go to break...

What a moment! I miss D-Lo. CRZ recap: JEDOUBLEF JADOUBLEREDOUBLET (with De-Bra) v. D'LO BROWN in a Title for Title match - Let Us Take You Back to Last Week where Ben Stiller had great fun - well, until the figure four. Strangely enough, Brown is NOT announced as hailing from any particular European city. Lockup, go behind from Jarrett, punches traded, clothseline from Jarret, shoulderblock from Brown. Semi-clean break - Jarret with a kick, Jarrett takes control. Off the ropes, duck, Rydeen bomb by Brown for 2. Fireman's carry takeover for 2 for Brown. Running powerslam by Brown for 2. Jarrett decides that's enough 2 counts for now and rolls outside - referee "Blind" Tim White puts on the count but Jarrett drags Brown out instead. It's D'Lo, however, dropping Jarrett on the STEEL steps. Brown on the second turnbuckle - but he meets a dropkick. Kneedrop from Jarrett, lariat, lariat, choke on the second rope - Chef Boyardee brings you the doublefeature of the dropkick. Time now for the Bossman slide-under-uppercut. Back in - head to the buckle. Right hand, Brown fires back with three rights. Hard whip into the corner, but Brown puts up the boot. Jarrett comes back with an ambar takedown. Shut up, Lawler. Back to the armbar for Jarrett. Off the ropes, sleeper. Brown to one knee. Arm falls once, arm falls twice, arm nae falls thrice. Elbow, elbow, out of it, off the ropes, knee to the gut and Brown flips. Stomp on the lower abs. Off the ropes, reversed, head down, swinging neckbreaker from Brown for 2. Headlock - but Brown elbows out - off the ropes - up and over - double leg takedown - catapult into the turnbuckle. Jarrett tries to come back with the punch, but Brown slips it and connects with one of his own. Slam. Standing legdrop. 1, 2, no. Brown has Jarrett in the corner - time for the ten punch count along. Whip is reversed, but Brown ducks and White takes the brunt of the blow. With the ref out, Brown hits the Sky-Hi on Jarrett. Now Debra's in the ring with both title belts. But she drops them to the mat and unbuttons her top instead. Brown does a brief Mark Henry-like tongue manouevre, but instead grabs a belt and waffles Jarrett with it. Cover - White's up - 1, 2, 3! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a NEW Intercontinental Champion. (6:13) Jarrett's finally rousted, and he's angry. After some words for Debra, he grabs her hand and drags her off.

I guess there were a lot of injuries/no shows since they delivered this jobber vs. jobber match. Recap by G.P. Ryan on the RSPW message boards: Ace Darling vs. Devon Storm (light heavyweight division) Maybe it's just me, but I think it would be interesting if someone worked up a list of who has appeared on both Nitro and RAW in the same year. Storm takes right over and hits some kicks in the corner, whips him into the corner and hits a monkey flip, but Darling lands on his feet. Storm misses a clothesline and Darling hits a second-rope back bodypress, then a double-leg rollup. (At any rate, it's the inverse of the double-leg cradle as I see it, that move from Mero/Austin at KOTR). Storm goes for a powerbomb but Darling counters with a rana, only for Storm to roll through. WINNER: Ace Darling, at 0:43 1/2* -- 3/4*

CRZ recap: Doink (The Clown) v. Ad Break - As Doink enters on his unicycle, we take an ad break. Amazing, the Macho Patriot enters to his usual theme and NOT his "WrestleMania: The Album" cut. Savage chums it up with the crowd, and Vince tells us that Savage is dedicating this match to Crush, by some convoluted logic. Savage goes under the ring and comes back, apparently finding no clowns. The matchup FINALLY begins as Savage once again works the crowd. Lockup, Doink misses a punch. "Macho" chant has started up. Vince wonders what the "little surprise" is, which finally ruins it for me: I now just KNOW that there's going to be a midget involved. Doink with some illegal moves. Savage gets angry, and goes outside to steal the Fink's chair. While referee "Blind" Dave Hebner wrests the chair from the Macho Man, Doink blindsides him and gains the advantage. Doink pounds away and puts Savage in a Boston Crab. Using the ropes for leverage, Hebner catches him the second time. Doink puts the knee on the ropes and jumps on it, so we can get that infamous Savage limp . Savage manages to get in one shot before he's pounded some more. Savage gains the momentum back by reversing Doink's attempts. Doink ends up on the outside, and Savage follows. As the Clown slams the Macho head into the STEEL post, we take an ad break. When we come back, Savage is powering out of YASH (yet another submission hold). Vince calls Savage a "future Hall of Famer" (meaning one day he'll die). Doink takes Savage post to post. Belly to belly suplex for 2. Another 2 for the Clown. YASH, abdominal stretch. Savage throws Doink over his shoulder. Doink comes back with YASH. Doink reverses a Savage charge into a powerslam. Finally, Doink goes up to the top to deliver his Cannonball, but cleverly Savage rolls out before the Clown lands on him. Eye rake, and Savage rolls out of the ring. Savage goes UNDER the ring. Finally....oh no, it IS a midget. Tiger Jackson, wearing a face mask and dressed like the Macho Man, comes out. Doink thinks this is hilarious, and I would have to if Vince hadn't COMPLETELY GIVEN IT AWAY to me. Anyway, Doink exits the ring to chase the Macho Midget and gets tripped up when he forgets about Savage. Everybody goes back into the ring and thanks to the Midget's distraction, Savage puts Doink in a small package for the 3 count. Vince: "Doink has been out-Doinked!" I wonder who wrote this one. Get a good play-by-play man and it'd be a hit. I still can't forgive Vince for giving away the ending. I know that most WWF fans are too stupid to see it coming, but GEEZ...

Look, Vince already did bring in Jesus, and nobody cared then. And they job him in 51 seconds! Here is the CRZ recap of the match: BRAKUS v. JESUS (no entrance) - surely an auspicious debut to take on the son of God! Brakus is rated TV-PG-V and comes out to Mark Henry's good-guy music (I guess I'm not supposed to remember that, ha!). Clip of Savio taking apart Brakus in the Bral for All match is supposed to make Brakus look good - it doesn't. Lockup, powerout. Brakus whips Jesus and hits a powerslam. Elbow drop. Brakus sure does a lot of shouting for a German guy. Another elbow drop. Stomp on the back. Spinebuster. 1, 2, 3. Whoops, that's it. (:51)

    The Thunder Review 7/27 - 8/2

Well they had foolishly signed a deal with KISS to put The Demon in a certain number of main events. I remember a couple times him wrestling in so called "special main event" in the middle of Nitro to fulfill the contract. Anyways here are the recaps to the matches you mentioned. Watts match is by Scott Keith and the Demon match is by CRZ: Buff Bagwell v. Erik Watts. Well, it's wrestling. Sort of. Two minutes of posing leads to a Watts sneak attack. Bagwell hits his pathetically limited offense for a bit, but a urinage turns the tide. Kick, punch, pose from Watts. And a standing moonsault, which looked ridiculous, but I appreciate the thought. Chinlocks for everyone! They've got more than enough to go around. Our hero Buff makes the miraculous comeback, however, much to my relief, and comes back with the Blockbuster...but Ernest Miller runs in. Apparently the ref managed to finish the count, however, so Bagwell wins by pinfall. Whew. I was afraid that 10 minutes might have been wasted or something. 1/4* BOOKA T (with iWatch logo and Let Us Take You Back to Nitro...and Following Nitro) and (THIS IS) STING and KRONYKK v. THE PAINT JOBBERS (with Let Us Take You Back to Nitro) and JEDOUBLEF JADOUBLEREDOUBLET - Get this - Kronic can't even spell their own team name (their homemade T's say "Kronik"). Sheesh, are five separate entraces really necessary? Ray pronounces it own lahk neckbone as a Pier Eight brawl erupts. The ring clears of all but Booker and Jarrett - off the ropes, duck, Harlem sidekick hits. Right, into the ropes, roundhouse misses as Jarrett holds onto the ropes, then pulls himself outside. Muta hits the ring and surprises T. Snapmare takeover, off the ropes with the wacky elbow. Stomp. Mist! Stomp. Stomp. Apparently, Sting chaired Vampiro - but we didn't see it. Adams in the ring, full nelson on Muta - into a chokeslam. Off the ropes, clothesline for Vampiro. Clark joins Adams and they give Muta High Time. Adams covers - referee "Blind" Jamie Tucker decides that THEY are the legal men and counts 1, 2, 3. (1:24) Ahh, Muta has quickly learned the ways of Vampiro quickly, hasn't he? Demon dropkicks Adams out of the ring. Now all seven men are outside. We watch Demon pound on Adams - then we look back to the aisle where CAT has appeared and is throttling Muta with his black belt. Back to Adams, who has turned the tide against Demon and is calling over Clark. They have designs on the table...but Jarrett breaks it up. Kronic turns to Jarrett and pound on him - they'll put HIM through the table. Tucker grabs Adams in an attempt to stop this - so Kronic decide to put HIM through the table instead. Remember, these guys are the FACES. Referee "Blind" Mark Johnson runs out and disqualifies both members of Kronic. Yeah! That's where it gets ya! (call it - around 3:00) So now we've got five men in the ring...but Johnson wants this to follow some semblance of order and the ring is cleared of all but Jarrett and Sting. WHOOOOOOOSH New Blood Rising 11 Days Away. Jarrett off the ropes with the Boss Man straddle. T threatens to come in while Tenay proclaims this "a rivalry for the ages," but I'm not buying it JUST yet. Here's a brief Stevie Ray impersonation, from me to you: "Hey, Tony - lemme ask you something. Mike - Mike - lemme ask you something." Tag to Demon - open shot. Right. Into the ropes, Vampiro ends up falling off the apron when Sting bounces, since he's not paying attention to what's going on behind him - what a goof. Demon's back elbow finds the mark. Tag to Vampiro - right hand. Headbutt. Right, right, into the opposite corner is reversed, double clothesline and both men are down. Stevie Ray wants to ask another question. At 7, Sting makes the tag to Booker T. Right for Vampiro, right for Demon, clothesline for Vampiro, clothesline for Demon, Harlem sidekick for Vampiro, pounding on Vampiro until Demon gets him from behind. Elbow, Booker with a knee to the gut, off the ropes with the axe kick, breakdancing back up, Jarrett is on the top turnbuckle and flies - but T catches him! Before he can deliver the Book End, however, Demon makes the save. Jarrett rolls out of the ring and takes off up the aisle. T fights back against Demon - Vampiro from behind. Now Sting is over to Vampiro...it's all breaking down again. Sting puts Vampiro into position while T ducks a clothesline and HE puts DEMON into position. Simultaneous Scorpion Death Drop/Book End, double cover, well *I* thought the legal men were T and Vampiro, but Johnson decides all four men are legal and counts a double pinfall. (6:05) Booker T's music plays and he and Sting are announced the winners. Umm...Jarrett wasn't eliminated...? Booker climbs the corner, gives Jarrett a faraway look - but the credits are up and we're out.

Sandberg will get in eventually but it may take a couple of more years. Next year Molitor and Eckersley will be eligible for the first time and will likely be voted in. There will then been a three year gap before the 2001 retired class of McGwire, Gwynn, and Ripken are eligible so Sanderg will likely get voted in during that time.
