  1. As long as they ONLY say "Chicago Bears presented by BankOne" at Soldier Field then it won't be a big deal but if this does start a new trend I nominate the Bears for contraction or move them to Europe.

N.L. voting update...1st base in incredibly close right now and as I've never seen a race this close this late in the voting. Braves fans definently stuffed the ballot boxes this week as Braves players took the lead at three positions. Sammy Sosa still is in 2nd but he's gone from a 180,000+ vote lead over 4th place two weeks ago before the cork bat incident to a less than 80,000 vote lead over 4th. He'll definently be 3rd by next week (the last update) but still doubtful that Pujols can overtake him. First Base Player Team Total Votes Helton, T. Rockies 379,713 Bagwell, J. Kane's unmasking

Are there actually people who give a shit if this kills the guy's career? Fine by me. Just another not so talented, big man who lived out his usefulness long ago. They've gotten everything they can out of the Kane character and it's time to move on. Of course in their minds I'm sure they think this will relaunch his career. Also no one should have been dissapointed by what they saw because you know there was no way they would or even could pay it off right as it was just a dumb ratings ploy from the start. If Kane is jobbing on Heat two months from now then it was all worth it in my view.

Beltran has really come on strong after a poor start and I did give some consideration this week but if you look at the two non-one team reps in the outfield I have right now, Garret Anderson and Vernon Wells, I just can't see Beltran being chosen over either one right now but who knows what will happen the next two weeks.

I want him to as well and I did list him last week. But I see him getting snubbed at this point as Torii Hunter will take away a spot as he will be voted a starter and Dmitri Young is a lock to be the Tigers rep and that takes away another spot.

The official 2003 NBA Draft Thread

Hmmm its looking doubtful the mock draft will get off the ground here and I'm moving this week so if it starts and I'm not around when my pick comes up (#11 and #40) somebody can just choose for me.

You know I don't think how bad a team should matter if a player makes the team or not and actually I had normally had 4 Rangers before this week but Carl Everett dropped of my list for the first time. I have to say though I've given some consideration the last two weeks to bumping Urbina but I think that relievers have a better chance of making the team this year due to the new World Series homefield rule and I think the managers would rather have a reliever out there in the 6th or 7th than a starter. Also when I looked at the other A.L. relievers no one jumped out at me enough to bump Urbina as its a pretty weak year for closers in the A.L where in the N.L. there are a ton that deserve consideration.

A.L. picks for this week...vote leaders in CAPS, players not list last week have an asterisk next to their name. Roy Halladay makes my list for the first time this week even though I still think his ERA is a bit too high (although he's almost under my 3.50 ceiling I typically use) but I try to be semi realistic with my picks as well and with all the publicity he's getting with his 11 straight wins he's almost a complete lock to make the team right now. The Smackdown Review 6/22 - 6/28

I KNOW for a fact that had a match on SD prior to one where Edge returned at the end (Okay, maybe it happened in April) because Trips interfered and cost Jericho the match and the chance of being the UDC again, which added more to their feud that climaxed at Judgment Day last year! Ummm nope. I believe your thinking of a tag match in April that was Jericho/Angle vs. HHH/Hogan and was done to set up the HHH/Hogan title match at Backlash.

    The Smackdown Review 6/22 - 6/28

I thought that happened in May, when Hogan was still the UDC, because of HHH's interference Nope they didn't wrestle in May. Here's the CRZ recap to the above match: HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN (Hollywood, California - 285 pounds - with Subway presents Vengeance!) v. CHRIS JERICHO (Winnipeg, Manitoba - 227 pounds) referee: Chioda Just in case you were worried that they'd have to spend the last fifteen minutes dragging out the "wrestling" portion of this match, they allow Hogan 2:35 for his entrance, while Jericho gets 1:11 for *his* entrance. Granted, it's probably lots of fun to watch Hogan cup his ear if you're in the live crowd, but at this point it doesn't exactly make for compelling television, if you catch my drift. Jericho probably could have gotten some MORE time for his entrance, but he decides to jump Hogan before the bell, and so we go. Forearm in the back, forearm in the back, right, right, right, right, off comes the 'do rag, chop, chop, climbs the scoend rope, right, right, right, chop, into the opposite corner, but Hogan comes out with a clothesline of his own. Clothesline! Right, right, right, into the ropes, big back body drop! Scoop...and a slam. Off the ropes - Hogan tries to drop the elbow but misses. Commentators suggest Hogan is moving gingerly - more than normal, I guess the implication was, har har - the match with Angle is assigned blame. Jericho with a kick, right hand, right, chop, into the ropes, reversed, Hogan shoves Jericho over the top - but he skins the cat back in! Then he runs into a right hand. Oops. Kick by hogan, right, chop, right, chop, right, threatens Chioda for daring to enforce the rules - climbs to the second rope for a Ten Punch Count Along - gets eight before Chioda can force him off - Hogan winds up against Chioda again, and *this* time when he turns his back, Jericho sneaks in an uppernut. Commentators completely fail to mention Chioda's earlier encounter with Test and why it may have affected him in this match...but *why the hell would THEY want to tie anything together for the sake of a storyline?* Ahhh get me some damn commentators in here already okay I'm better now. Jericho kicks - right hand - helps him up so he can deliver the death suplex. "C'mon Baby" gets 2. Hogan grabs Jericho's ankle but Jericho won't let up - right hand, choke on the second rope. Jericho does a Muta-like windup on his way to the Boss Man straddle. Stands on the neck for 4. "Jericho sux!" chant. Jericho cups his ear!! Right hand - is blocked! Right by Hogan! Right hand! Off the ropes - but Jericho hits a gutshot...and DDT! Leg is hooked - 1, 2, NO! Hogan reaches down - but not yet. Right by Jericho to the back of the head, right hand - and into the abdominal stretch! Jericho moves just close enough to grab the top rope - Chioda misses it (ha ha, watch him look right at Jericho until he notices he's about to grab the rope, then lean down). Chioda finall "catches" him and makes him let go - Hogan, fired up, is out with the hiptoss! Right by Jericho, right by Hogan, right, right, right, into the opposite corner, reversed by Jericho, Hogan slips out and Jericho shoulders the post! Hogan is feeling it - right, right, right, into the ropes, Jericho DUCKS the big boot - double leg takedown...trying to turn it for the Walls - Hogan fights it - Hogan with a body scissors and Jericho flips to the mat!! Hogan with the gutshot - into the ropes, head down, but Jericho kicks. Jericho with the bulldog! LIONSAULT!! Leg is hooked - 1, 2, NO!!! Hogan has the look! You have to see the look on Jericho's face here - this is priceless shit, folks. Jericho knows exactly what's coming and hits the perfect facial expressions. He tries the right hand anyway - but it has no effect. Right hand - Hogan starts to jackhammer! Jericho is beside himself - but he has no other choice...he is compelled to throw the right hand again. HOGAN POINTS "YOU!!" Deep down, Jericho knows it won't work, but he can't help himself - right hand...is blocked - Hogan with the right, right, right, into the ropes - big boot! Jericho wisely rolls out of the ring, shoves away Chimel and grabs his chair, bringing it back into the ring with him. Hogan kicks the chair but Jericho holds on and *crowns* him! Chioda calls for the bell. (DQ 6:31) Jericho hits the "King of the World" pose, then goes outside for a little furniture rearranging. STEEL steps in place - Jericho back in, tossing Hogan out of the ring. Jericho to the outside, chair in hand - WHACK! Hogan collapses into position on the steps. "You are finished!" Jericho puts a boot on Hogan's head and raises the chair...but just before he swings, the Y2J countdown starts up again - the lights dim - the pyro hits - and...is that Jericho's twin striking the pose? He turns round - it is EDGE. Teeth in full light, Edge doing his best Jericho imitation - gum spit - to the ring - Jericho, who'd hit the ring, tries to escape but Hogan is outside with the chair! Jericho turns back - Edge with the clothesline! Right, right, right, right, right, down to the mat, right, right, right, right, right - clotheslining Jericho over the ropes to the floor! Edge removes his shirt and gives us "fired up." Now Hogan puts Jericho back into the ring - Edge puts him in the corner, shoulderblock in the gut, viscera off the ropes...Jericho tries to go outside again, but Hogan waves his finger and grabs him - back in the ring - Hogan and Edge share a "that's that" sign - and Edge hits the SPEAR!! "Get the hell up, Chicago! Get up!" Edge on the turnbuckle and the crowd digs it. Hogan in the ring to raise Edge's hand - hey, why are they playing Hogan's music instead of Edge's? Bah! Jericho up the ramp and out - they do a cut here and next thing you know, Edge and Hogan are both doing the Hogan routine in the ring. Credits are up!

    The Raw Review 6/22 - 6/28

June 24, 2002 A Day that will live in infamy... For the WORST...MATCH...EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER! Nope you got your Jackie Gayda matches mixed up...that's next week (edit: actually my mistake, it will be two weeks from now). CRZ's recap of this match: TRISH STRATUS - THE FITNESS MODEL (Women's Champion) & LINDA MILES (with "Divas Undressed" hype - and RAW is brought to you by "WrestleMania X8" GameCube, "Eight Legged Freaks," and Twix!) v. MOLLY HOLLY & JACKIE GAYDA referee: Patton Well, no explanation given yet for Linda appearing on this show. Of course, I still think Nowinski is the hardcore champion, so you know I probably just have ISSUES. HEY! First, Molly has THE STICK: "I would just like to say that it is an honour to bring dignity back to the WWE Women's title by earning it. And not by being a sleazy tramp who sleeps her way to the top like *some* people." Trish steals the mic! "Earned it? Do I need to remind you that you cheated to get that title? But you know what, you know what, that's cool, 'cause it's just another challenge to get that title back. But as far as sleeping my way for that title, I worked my way to that title, these people saw me work for that title. And you know what? I actually felt bad about poking fun of you at the last couple days, but if you're gonna stick to your cheating ways and your cheapshots, well it'll be my pleasure to kick your fat ass!" OH NO IT'S ON and they've paired up by whether or not they're actually on the RAWster or not (yuk yuk). Faces in charge - Gayda tossed - back body drop on Molly by Trish - dropkick by Trish - Molly runs to make the tag. Japanese armdrag (!) by Stratus. Arm wringer, tag to Miles - elbow to the elbow. Arm wringer, yankin' and crankin' - Molly in and Miles gives HER a big boot. Tag to Stratus - top rope axehandle to the arm - back to the arm wringer. Chop, chop, arm wringer, tag to Miles. Elbow across the elbow. Arm wringer. You know, I think they've isolated a body part. I think Lawler's isolated a body part, tsk tsk. Into the ropes is reversed, kick in the back by Molly, clothesline by Gayda gets 1. Tag to Molly. Gayda picks up Miles and feeds her to Holly for a kick. Forearm in the back, headbutt by Miles, axehandle by Molly, rakes the face for 4, lightning elbowdrop to the small of the back, elbowdrop, stomp, choke on the second rope. Gayda adds a choke as Patton warns Molly - this brings in Stratus, allowing Molly to add a stretch of her own, pulling on her legs while Gayda holds the choke. Holly stands on the neck for 4. Miles fights back - right to the gut, right, but Holly puts her down with another axehandle. Snapmares her over. Chop by Molly. Timmmmmmber. Into the ropes, head down, sunset flip by Miles - 1, 2, no. Holly stomp, stomp, stomp. Front facelock - nice snap suplex by Holly - tag to Gayda, who climbs the adjacent corner - Miles elbows out of the full nelson, dropkicks Holly into the ropes but Gayda apparently forgets to crotch hereslf, so Holly has to make a production out of pulling herself up by the ropes - NOW she goes down. Miles decides to tag out - clothesline by Stratus on Holly, handstand Frankensteiner on Gayda (!) - 1, 2, Holly with a dropkick to break it up! Holly back to her corner to get the tag. Block by Stratus, elbow, bloack, elbow, elbow, elbow, front kick, 1, 2, Gayda breaks it up - Miles in with a dropkick, then tosses her through the ropes while Stratus kicks Holly in the corner - whip into the opposite corner is reversed and Holly tries the tumbling run elbow - nobody home, though - Stratus with Stratusfaction and that'll do ya. 1, 2, 3. (4:44) There's a "ruthless aggression," whew! I thought we weren't gonna squeeze one in! Just in case you take any of this wrestling stuff seriously, though...

  17. No in your mind he isn't a main eventer but in my mind and many others he is so get over yourself. Also the guys I mentioned the current place now is this: Austin - a cripple playing another tired authority role and might never wrestle again. Rock - a part time wrestler who is no longer a consistent fixture in the main event scene with his frequent abscence. Hogan - might as well be considered a part time wrestler since he hardly ever does, stuck in primarily a comedy angle and no longer a serious threat to the world title. Undertaker - has been a midcarder all year and doesn't appear to be leaving it anytime soon. Triple H - the soon to be son-in-law to Vince McMahon and holding everyone else hostage in the process and nothing really can be done about it unfortunently. Kurt Angle - guarenteed the main event spot at Vengeance and likely the main event spot at SummerSlam. Will likely be holding the #1 belt in the company for a 4th time in a month or two.
  18. EXACTLY. Use the mark test. Those three against each other, toss up. Angle against one of them, total under dog. First off Angle is not the draw that Rock or Austin were and odds are he never will be. But odds are no one in the near future will reach the level of those two in terms of drawing power with the current state of the product, and no its not Angle's fault if never reaches that level of drawing power. So I think its an unfair comparison as even people who never watch wrestling have probably heard of Rock, Stone Cold, and Hulk Hogan. Kurt Angle is not on that level but those are guys who transcended the sport and obviously that is very hard to do so. Now in the case of Triple H everything he does is tainted. Everything he has accomplished post-quad injury has an asterisk next to it because it no longer has to do with in-ring ability, which has obviously decreased, and he doesn't have Rock or Austin to feed off and be a perceived as a big draw. As long as Triple H is fucking Stephanie no one will be built as strong as he is. Not Kurt Angle, not even Brock Lesnar and, not Randy Orton in his upcoming blow job push. If Orton's push is successful and he becomes a draw we all know who will be the first to cut him off at the legs. Now getting off the subject a little there but what you also have to remember is as much as HHH has been pushed I don't think he's a known commodity in the American popular culture like Hogan, Austin, and Rock and never will be. I just have a problem with, essentially putting down what Angle has accomplished and saying that you guys think he isn't a main eventer which is just absured IMO. He isn't Hogan, Austin, or Rock and probably never will be. But he also isn't a guy like Benoit who has never been given the chance and he isn't a guy like Jericho who was cut off at the legs over someone's own personal agenda. Angle is well over with the marks and has been for quite sometime and is a main event performer now and will be (barring health) for years to come and how about just being happy about it? There are plenty of other things that deserve to be bitched about rather than this. Angle just better never grow his hair long. Edit: Oh and postscrpit...fuck Undertaker. He was never the draw the Big Three ever were and now he's just an old man clinging to his spot refusing to put over anyone over strong that he doesn't perceive as paying their dues and has been doing that for three years now. Undertaker is so insignifcant now and its not even funny.
  19. I am sick and tired of the Kurt Angle martyrdom. I think Angle, when you combine in ring and mic skills, is the best performer in the WWE currently. But this Angle is mistreated crap has gone far enough. I got no problem with arguing that Angle’s first two title reigns are tainted but the fact is he still was world champion. I also agree with many points on how Angle is portrayed but not a main eventer? You have to be fuckin’ kidding me. I think Jericho and Benoit fans have 10 times more reason to complain about the treatment of them rather than Kurt Angle. Do you all realize that when Angle wins the WWE Title next month at Vengeance or in August at SummerSlam that he will have the same number world titles (not counting HHH’s bogus belt) as the Undertaker? Hmmm wasn't he a main event guy or is four world titles not enough to be considered a main event player? Hell just the simple fact it's almost a forgone conclusion that Angle will have the WWE Title once again the next month or two I think makes him a main eventer but what do I know? After that the only wrestlers that will have more WWE/WWF World Titles will be the three biggest draws in the company history (Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock), the sacred son of the IWC (Bret Hart), and the guy who fucks the bosses daughter (Triple H). Barring another neck injury Angle’s 4th title reign will likely not be his last and last year will likely not be his last WrestleMania main event. If Kurt Angle isn’t a main eventer…THEN WHO THE FUCK IS?????
  20. They're borderline Main event themselves. Yes because they've only been in the main event of WRESTLEMANIA. Yup borderline main eventers.

    Detailed Review of HBK DVD

Ummm you don't think the ladder match was *****? Ummm ooookaaay. You could definently make some arguments for Hell in the Cell and Mind Games as ***** as well and probably would even get a few people to say the Iron Man match was *****. The match with Diesel was excellent as well and definently Nash's best match ever. Also the AWA tag match, if its the one I'm thinking of, has to be seen to be believed. Not ***** mind you but let's just say Shawn WAS wearing white tights when the match started.
