Frank Thomas hit his first triple since 2002 and only his 2nd since 1998 tonight. I missed it live so I'll have to wait for the highlight but I'm guessing it had to be a horribly misplayed ball for this to happen or maybe all three Angel outfielders ran into each other.

McGwire's homerun is forgotten because of Gibson pure and simple. I would love to rewatch this game but I don't have Netflix and there's no way in hell I'll ever buy the whole set. Maybe down the line I'll check Ebay to see if anyone is selling individual games from the set. I'd have to imagine impartial viewers at the time through three games must of thought this could be one of the greatest series of all-time. Didn't quite workout that way. I'm having a roster size problem. I placed both Travis Buck and Kevin Slowey on the DL and then picked up Daniel Cabrera. When I go to pick up a second player Yahoo is telling me I'm over the max roster size, which makes no sense as why have two DL slots if you can't pick up two replacement players? Then when I try to move either Buck or Slowey off the DL it's telling me I'm over the max roster size and that I have to release someone. I have no problem releasing someone, as my team is complete shit at the moment, but this has to be some sort of error.

And for the third straight year the NFL Network goes the ESPN route and decides to ignore the 2nd round but at least they did show every 1st round pick which from reading the thread ESPN couldn't even manage.

A's need to go on a long losing streak quick or otherwise they are going to start making the small fanboy in me think that they have a chance when I was kind of looking forward to having zero optimism and not having to get emotionally involved in wins and losses this year. If these assholes are in first place at the end of May then I'm really going to be pissed.

There was a report that Frank Thomas was very close to returning to the A's but a mystery team stepped in and made a better offer but as to who that other team is it hasn't been revealed yet. I'm still thinking it will be Seattle.

And if you noticed it was a lead off homerun by RICKEY~ that was the only hit. Once again I clawed my way back to .500 and then once again I lost 6 out of 7 almost immediately after. It has happened four times now, almost the same exact pattern each time. If I only played games in my division I'd be pretty damn good as I'm 23-13 in division but 30-45 against the rest of the league.

I'm fairly certain that some teams would purposely dick around for the entire 15 minutes even if they knew right away who they were going to take, particularly the Raiders. Some also will just sit there by the phone hoping some team will offer them all of their first round picks for the next five years for the #23 pick overall.

I'm going to keep doing this until I start grasping at straws to find decent players to fill out every pick, which I had to do with at least one of the following picks. As I get further down the list the honorable mention picks become increasingly difficult. I'm going to do one more entry where I do picks 61 to 100 and if I get Bored enough before Saturday maybe I'll do a worst picks entry but I'll have to take a slightly different approach.

Awww and I was going to do the same before the June draft. Oh well. Maybe I'll do an All-Time NHL Draft...or not. I think I'd give a slight edge to Kevin Appier over Zito at #9 but ya not a whole lot to offer with just a handful of decent players at that spot.

I'd welcome him back in Oakland although I don't see that happening. Seattle seems like the most likely destination for him. So I didn't see any of the A's prize pitching prospects after all at the Stockton Ports game last night. It wasn't a total loss though as Chris Carter, who the A's got in the Haren trade, hit three homeruns and Sean Doolittle, the A's 2nd round pick in '07, hit two of his own in a 21-7 laugher.

I'm going to a Stockton Ports (A's high Single A affiliate) game tonight against Rancho Cucamonga as I wanted to catch one of their games early in the season to see one their four impressive pitching prospects (Brett Anderson, Fautino De Los Santos, Henry Rodriguez, Trevor Cahill) before any of them are moved to Double A. All had started well this season until Anderson and De Los Santos both got lit up in their last starts. I can't find the probables for tonight but I'm pretty sure it is Rodriguez's turn in the rotation which should be fun as he's clocked 100 mph on the radar gun in the past.

If you haven't checked out Pro-Football-Reference.com lately you should as it isn't the completely useless site it used to be. This is a site that until recently didn't even have QB Ratings but now it has all kinds of neat features such as a searchable draft database. With the help of this I decided to do a quicky project for the blog by putting together an All-Time NFL Draft. Now this isn't some all-time fantasy draft I'm doing but rather I'm selecting who in my opinion were the best players ever at each selection of the draft (i.e. Who is the best #1 pick of all-time?). To keep my sanity I'm only doing this since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger and I stopped at 30 picks although I might do another entry for more picks.
