Comments that don't warrant a thread

Sports Illustrated launched the SI Vault which has scanned copies of every issue of Sports Illustrated...ever. The magazine is no longer relevant but I see I will be wasting several hours looking through old issues. Edit: Err scratch that, it has articles to every issue but only select issues have fully scanned copies. Oh well.

NCAA BBall Tournament, 1st and 2nd Rounds

I'd lean more towards K-State being underrated by the committee. An at large 11 seed means they barely made the field when I don't remember anyone viewing them as a bubble team going into Selection Sunday.

Winthrop avoided the record, they got 11 points. Also USC is toast. But god damn this game could make up for the entire day to this point.

That record Kent State tied for fewest points in a half in tournament history, well Winthrop might break it as they have five points in the second half with less than four minutes to go.

NCAA BBall Tournament, 1st and 2nd Rounds

Every year on the first day of the tournament one game in the most western "pod" is placed in a slot where it can only be seen locally. They have to do this because they don't want a 9:30 AM PST tip for one of the games. Good half for Stanford, they may be boring as hell to watch on offense but their defense is incredible.

Hopefully we'll get more competitive games tonight. Three complete blowouts going on right now.

Commentary is there, they did flash a message about audio problems with Georgia/Xavier so that was probably it.

NCAA BBall Tournament, 1st and 2nd Rounds

Not that it's available to many of you, but the Stanford/Cornell game will be televised nationally on CBS College Sports (formerly CollegeSportsTV). Won't matter for me since I'll get it locally on CBS but most of the country will only be able to see the game otherwise through MMOD as it's in the Thursday local newsbreak timeslot.

    1986 TSM Baseball Simulation League

Ugh, Todd Worrell blows his first save opportunity of the year to cost me the series. But hey through three games Gary Gaetti is league MVP so that's something.

No it means that 67% of his plate appearances came against right handed pitchers that year.

    College Hoops: 3/1/08 - 3/16/08

well yea, my whole point is Georgia was not even on the bubble, and suddenly getting to the finals of the SEC tourney somehow got them a spot, when they have not done squat all season, other then that I really have no issue with the way things came together THEY WON THE TOURNAMENT THE POINT OF THE TOURNAMENT IS TO WIN AN AUTOMATIC BERTH YOU CANNOT EAT A PURSE A PURSE IS NOT FOOD What if it's a chocolate purse? So um this College Basketball Invitational thing isn't going so well. There were supposed to announce the 16 team field tonight but too many schools are turning them down so they've had to postpone the announcement until morning. The tournament is supposed to tip off on Tuesday. I'm sure Oregon State would listen if they called.

NCAA BBall Tournament, 1st and 2nd Rounds

Tip times have been posted. Gonzaga has to be the least happy with their's as they get a 9:25 AM local tip off for what will essentially be a road game against Davidson. Portland State and St. Mary's are the other west coast teams stuck with early morning tips. Looks like it will be a short visit for TSM's team. Cornell/Stanford is this year's game that no one will see with the Thursday purgatory timeslot of 4:50 PM EST/1:50 PM PST. Also just noticed that Cal State Fullerton is in the same slot as UCLA so that has to suck for CSF fans wanting to see the game.

Sadly I see no selection show on the channel guide but the NIT selection show is on at 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PM PST on ESPN2 tonight. I guarantee you it's gets higher ratings than the women's selection show. One thing to think of when making picks this year is law of averages as last year there was incredibly low number of upsets without a single double digit seed getting past the first weekend. This year it I think it may be a little closer to normal.

Speaking of expanding, don't forget this year we have the College Basketball Invitational which will take the scraps that the NIT doesn't take. Apparently they will have no problem taking a school with a losing record. How exciting!

By the seedings Villanova was the last team in. Looks like it was Illinois State who Georgia cost a spot. Man is it weird seeing an SEC team as 14 seed.

Oregon in and with room to spare. Very surprising. Texas gets to play in Houston if they get to the Sweet 16. FUCK! Stanford on the same side of the bracket as Texas. Just fucking great. Oh well Sweet 16 was all I was hoping for anyways.

What's with the committee rewarding 10 seeds? First South Alabama gets to play in Birmingham and now Davidson gets to play in Raleigh. Villanova in is bad news for the Pac-10 bubble teams.

First two bubble teams in are South Alabama and St. Joseph's. Interesting that South Alabama gets to stay in state for their first round game. Wazzu got a higher seed than expected. And really surprising that Tennessee ends up in North Carolina's bracket so I would assume the committee views the Vols as the weakest #2 seed.

I love ESPN's coverage of sitting their watching CBS and then announcing the bids the second after CBS does it.
