Poor Wazzu, would have been nice for them to at least get to the Sweet 16 after they were expected to be garbage as usual this year.

And VCU ties Pitt with 1:40 to go. This is insane.

Signed up for the N.L. league as the Scrappy McClutchies.

The draft is 20 rounds so we have 5+ left.

We've had a ton of upsets in the first two rounds but one World Champion has survived to make it to the Sweet 16 and that is the '83 Orioles who took care of the '89 Blue Jays in five games and are on paper the tournament favorite now. The '86 Red Sox lost the '80 Yankees and no ball through Bill Buckner's legs although he did go 3 for 46 in the tournament. The upstart '86 Indians pushed the '88 Red Sox to seven games but they could not join the '88 Pirates as a 16th seed into the next round although there was one milestone in the series as Ken Schrom (!) pitched a shocking no-hitter in Game 2. Krankor's pick is Johnny Estrada And my pick is Scott Thorman

God I hope Brook Lopez doesn't jump to the NBA after just one year because Stanford does have pretty much their entire team returning so they could be very, very good next year. With his size and skill set he has a good chance to be a lottery pick but hopefully he realizes he's not exactly Greg Oden either and still needs time at the college level.
-
When it comes to scheduling CBS wants every part of the country to have a game in each timeslot so that's why Stanford ends up here and UNLV has a 9:25 AM PST start tommorrow. But when your getting ass raped like this the start time and location can't be used as a primary excuse. Sure it'd be more competitive if the game were in Spokane with a 2:30 PM PST tip but the result wouldn't be different. Woo hoo Stanford just matched their biggest run of the game, 4-0.
-
Christ it is 41-13. I knew there was a chance Stanford could get hammered but I could never imagine it'd be this bad, this quick.
-
Yay both Lopez twins with two fouls already. Stanford has zero ball handlers on their team, or at least no good ones, and Louisville is completely exploiting it. What has just been disgusting is the complete lack of effort on defense. I was hoping Stanford would play with a nothing to lose attitude since they weren't even sure they'd be here, and it since it is essentially a road game, but they are playing like a team that knows they don't belong.
-
Any small hope that Kentucky fans would show up to boo Pitino is gone. It sounds like it's 95% Louisville fans in the arena right now. Robin Lopez already in foul trouble which is pretty much every game for him. Louisville looks like a team that only had to travel 45 minutes for their game and Stanford looks like a team that is having to play before 10:00 AM.
-
Primary games I have today: Stanford/Louisville Oral Roberts/Washington State Weber State/UCLA Gonzaga/Indiana One thing I hate is CBS treats the entire state of California like everyone is local so no matter how out of hand the UCLA game gets they'll keep us there. Thank god for MMOD.

After three #1's were bounced in the first round I guess it's not a surprise that the '88 Dodgers wouldn't last past the second round. What was a surprise was that all three Dodgers' teams that advanced were eliminated in this round including losing both match-ups to the hated Giants who unexpectedly become the first franchise with two teams into the Sweet 16. The '80 Astros cruised again as they needed just five games to beat the '83 Braves are now 8-1 so far. Stats are for both rounds. (9) 1987 San Francisco Giants def. They have to seperate one of the games each day because they don't want to tip off a game being played on the west coast that early in the morning and those two games are in Sacramento and Spokane. They will only be available in those school's local marktes so they aren't national telecasts.

This division/region was completely blown to pieces in the 1st round but this round things almost went to form. The '86 Angels did what the '89 A's were supposed to do and that was sweep the '87 Mariners. The other three series all went at least six games with the one upset by the '83 White Sox as they eliminated the '87 Twins in seven games. Interesting thing about that series is every game was won by the road team, the complete opposite of the '87 World Series. That now leaves no World Series teams left in this division/region. Again stat lines are for both rounds. (9) 1986 California Angels def. Laudner actually had a halfway decent year with a 99 OPS+ but I did have to do a double take when I first looked at numbers thinking I was looking at the wrong player.

Aww Dickie V only has Duke getting to the Sweet 16. Very brave of him. I also love his logic that the West is the toughest region because it has the biggest name schools.

5 teams from the Pac-10 already announced with a region to go. I think Stanford is getting in.

Akron didn't play a single team in the RPI Top 50 all year and didnt play a single non-conference game against anyone in the RPI Top 100. That's how you get 25 wins.
