60.7 If anyone wants details on their ranking you can PM me.

Actually is six outs but they're up 12-2 so it's all over. Division title #14, yay.

Well I'm going to use the blog for venting my frustrations about the A's right now rather than subject the TWiB thread to it. Hey fine give the Angels credit for not laying down this weekend after an emotional 12 inning game on Friday. BUT YOU DO NOT BLOW A SIX RUN LEAD TO THE FUCKING MARINERS YOU CHOKING DOGS!!!!! Fuck, all I wanted you assholes to do is not make those last four games count and you are really fucking close to fucking this all up. Don't think for a second the Angels can't sweep you in four in Anaheim if you don't take care of your fucking shit right now in Seattle. Win these next two god dammit because you ain't getting any help from the Rangers. See the worst thing about this is that the longer this goes on the longer Ken Macha continues to run this team into the ground. He's on pretty much a no day off policy for this month until they clinch and there are some guys, including Frank Thomas, who are really dragging out there right now and could use some rest before the playoffs. After tonight that feeling that this was all over on Friday is gone. This is still a race and I'm hating every second of it. Ya, ya I'd hate to be Cardinals fan right now more and this post could look silly 24 hours from now but fuck it this loss tonight was unacceptable.
-
Edit: A's lost and I'll vent elsewhere.

Not to pick on nogoodnick but again you pick 58.9% (12 out of 28 the last two weeks) correctly you aren't going to stay undefeated. If I made the win/loss record count more than people who picked the best but had bad luck with match-ups would complain. Really we're four weeks into the season. It's way too early to start worrying about your ranking. And one other thing last year's winner, AlwaysPissedOff, was unranked after four weeks and Damaramu was ranked #2. See how much it means right now?

About time to bump this. Super Bowl VI: Staubach to Ditka touchdown Super Bowl XIII: The Jackie Smith dropped pass The 3rd quarter of Super Bowl III with 1969 commercials and pointless interview with Bob Hope. Pretty good quality too. Clip 1 Clip 2 1990 NFC Championship, 49ers vs. Rams: At about the 3:30 mark an awesome play by Ronnie Lott And these clips I'd seen a month or so ago but didn't post because it's the second worst sports moment of my childhood...the 1991 NFC Championship Game, 49ers vs. Giants. Three plays that ended the 49ers run at a three peat. Leonard Marshall breaks Joe Montana's hand Roger Craig fumble Matt Bahr's game winning field goal

If by the slim chance the A's haven't clinched by Wednesday night I'm cutting myself off from anything baseball related until October 3rd. The t.v. schedule is incomplete as it will depend on what games matter come this weekend. ESPN usually has games on Wednesday so I'm not sure if they're just not showing any games that day or if they will pick up one with playoff implications, same thing with Friday. There is no Sunday Night game. I think even Yankees fans would agree their game against the Orioles on Thursday doesn't really need national television. ESPN/Fox Games to Poison Our Youth THURSDAY Blue Jays (A.J. Burnett) at Tigers (Kenny Rogers), 1:00 PM EST/10:00 AM PST, ESPN2 Orioles (Daniel Cabrera) at Yankees (Randy Johnson), 7:00 PM EST/4:00 PM PST, ESPN2 SATURDAY Dodgers at Giants, 1:00 PM PST, FOX

Okay so I have two teams have someone fill in for the rest of the year in Penn State and Maryland. Now I have four things to consider when selecting a replacement: 1. Similar ranking 2. Is of course not on that team's schedule for the rest of the year 3. Not in the same conference 4. Someone who has not submitted late picks. So for Penn State I've picked UTBroward and for Maryland I've picked Lando Griffin. I'll use their picks for those two teams for the rest of the year. Those two teams are effectively on "probation" and can not play in a conference championship or bowl game. As for Jimbo since he said he was going to continue in the contest I'll give him another week. If no shows again this week I'm replacing him. By using replacment picks twice he's ineligible to win the contest. This is a three deadline week and note the earlier time for the Thursday deadline. Deadline #1: Thursday, September 28th, 6:00 PM EST/3:00 PM PST -Lose out on Thursday's game Deadline #2: Friday, September 29th, 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PM PST -Lose out on Friday's game Deadline #3: Saturday, September 30th, Noon EST/9:00 AM PST -Replacement picks, can't win by tiebreak Week 5 Match-ups #2 Temple (Ortonsault, 3-1) vs. #3 Oregon State (Princess Leena, 4-0) - GAME OF THE WEEK #7 Stanford* (Bored, 2-2) vs. #9 UCLA* PM (phoenixrising, 4-0) #1 Hawaii* (Will Scarlet, 4-0) vs. UTEP* (Angel Grace Blue, 1-3) #4 Miami* (Spaceman Spiff, 3-1) vs. Tennessee* (Sex Machine Gun, 2-2) #5 Syracuse* PM (CanadianChris, 4-0) vs. Florida State* PM (Kingofthe909, 0-4) #6 South Carolina* (Cuban Linx, 3-1) vs. Auburn* PM (Agent of Oblivion, 1-3) #8 Virginia* (Edwin MacPhisto, 3-1) vs. Ohio State (Gert T, 0-4) #10 Rutgers* (the pinjockey, 2-2) vs. Penn State* (UTBroward*, 1-3) Kentucky* (Danville Wrestling, 2-2) vs. USC* (Cartman, 2-2) Arizona State* PM (Spicy McHaggis, 3-1) vs. Oregon* (nogoodnick, 4-0) Georgia Tech* PM (iggymcfly, 3-1) vs. Miami of Ohio* PM (Hawk 34, 0-4) Texas A&M* (Secret Agent, 2-2) vs. Florida International* (Vitamin X, 1-3) Connecticut* (SilverPhoenix, 2-2) vs. Notre Dame* (Lando Griffin, 2-2) Michigan (Jimbo?, 3-1) vs. Minnesota* (Vern Gagne, 2-2) Florida* PM (Urban Warfare, 2-2) vs. Alabama (AlwaysPissedOff, 0-4) Buffalo (Carnival, 1-3) vs. Oklahoma* (Vampiro69, 2-2) Texas* (UTBroward, 2-2) vs. LSU* PM (teke184, 2-2) Maryland* (Lando Griffin*, 3-1) vs. Boise State* (bravesfan, 0-4) Kansas State (Loaded Glove?, 2-2) vs. Kent State* (JHawk, 1-3) San Diego State* PM (The Last Samurai, 2-2) vs. San Jose State* PM (kkktookmybabyaway, 0-4) Week 5 Games to Make Picks For THURSDAY BYU at TCU FRIDAY Rutgers at South Florida SATURDAY Navy at Connecticut Akron at Kent State Boise State at Utah Oregon at Arizona State Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech Texas Tech at Texas A&M San Diego State at San Jose State Central Michigan at Kentucky Troy at UAB Kansas State at Baylor Ohio State at Iowa Washington at Arizona Tiebreak #1: How many total points will be scored in the Oregon/Arizona State game? First Harris Poll released Didn't bother posting the rankings as there is nothing notable.
-
Bleh, A's lose 7-1. Clinching in Seattle is going to be boring.
-
Man I hate really hate the Angels. A's down 5-0 in the 5th. Why can't these assholes give up like a normal team who's down seven games with eight to play?

Game of the Day: Notre Dame 40, Michigan State 37. It was almost like the Spartans decided they'd have a game that would mirror the way they usually play every season. Hot start, then a lousy finish. Being that this was on ESPN on ABC on ESPN2 on Disney this is now "one of the ages" or something. Of course if this game had been played in South Bend and thus been televised on NBC, ESPN probably wouldn't care that much. ESPN did nail it though in what this game meant as Notre Dame just earned $14 million last night with this win, though they seemed to celebrate the fact more than look down on it. The Irish simply don't have another challenging game the rest of the year until they travel to Los Angeles and even they get humiliated in that game they will still be guarenteed a BCS bowl. Like I said last week they will play themselves back into the national title picture whether you like or not. WTF Score of the Day: Georgia 14, Colorado 13. There was no jaw dropping upset yesterday (sorry Ball State, you're barely I-A as it is) and this was as close as we were going to get. The Bulldogs were the Top 10 that was a mystery to people coming into this week. The mystery is over, they aren't a Top 10 team. Other Games that I Make Little Analysis and Lame Jokes About Arkansas 24, Alabama 23. You know people have been lynched in Alabama for a lot less than what kicker Leigh Tiffin did yesterday. Time to transfer to Florida State, kid. I'm guessing the good feelings Tide fans had for Mike Shula last year will dissapear in a hurry this year. SMU 55, Arkansas State 9. Isn't there something in the NCAA rules that if you lose by more than 40 to SMU you are demoted to Division II the next day? I mean god damn, it's fucking SMU! Let's not forgot Arkansas State is the defending Sun Belt champions. I think a 46 year old Eric Dickerson could run circles around a Sun Belt defense. Maryland 14, Florida International 10. Maybe it's time Ralph Friedgen started putting weight back on as the Terps were much better a 100 pounds ago. Ohio State 28, Penn State 6. I was watching the A's game so I missed most of this one and I unfortunately missed sideline reporting about Joe Paterno almost shitting his pants during the game. Houston 34, Oklahoma State 25. I only mention this game because Vern reads the blog and I won my match-up against him in my pick 'em contest yesterday because of this game. Kevin Kolb is yo daddy Vern! Whack Pac Wrap Up California 49, Arizona State 21. God damnit. Washington 29, UCLA 19. Newsflash, the Huskies don't suck this year. Isaiah Stanback is becoming quite the competent quarterback. USC 20, Arizona 3. Zzzzzz. Good lord was that boring. That Emmanuel Moody though is pretty damn good. Oregon State 38, Idaho 0. If you're still wondering how Michigan State coul blow that game last night then remember that they acutally made Idaho look halfway decent in their opener. Washington State 36, Stanford 10. Hey the Cardinal defense allowed 238 rushing yards, their best showing of the year. Progress! I wanna cry.

The new #1 is the old #1 as I'm sure you could figure out by the results, but Ortonsault still had a relatively strong showing so only drops one spot. Of course the CONTROVERSY~ will be my ranking even though I'm only 2-2 but I'm tied for 3rd in correct picks so there's your answer. Ya go ahead and call me dirty names like "Pac-10 referee" or something. But I'm not the only 2-2 team that cracks the Top 10 as you'll see. The other controversy will be the still missing nogoodnick. Sorry nick your 20th in correct picks right now at just 58.9% so you've been lucky. A lucky win for fellow undefeated phoenixrising cost them in the rankings. Veterans of the contest will know that rankings in even weeks always give some odd results because there's a bunch of teams at .500 which causes havoc with the rankings. Also the large number of no shows this week also screwed things up a bit. Oh and the new feature that I mentioned last week debuts. Since I expaded to 40 teams this year, which I'm now thinking wasn't the best idea, I considered expanding the BCS rankings as well. Instead though I decided to go with an "Other Receiving Votes" category. This will be the teams ranked 11th thru 14th although they'll be listed in alphabetical order so you won't know your exact ranking but you'll know if your on the edge of the Top 10 or not. Bored Championship Series Rankings thru Week 4 1. Hawaii - Will Scarlet 3.5 2. Temple - Ortonsault 3.75 3. Oregon State - Princess Leena 3.9 4. Miami - Spaceman Spiff 4.7 5. Well this certainly turned interesting.
-
Your mildly interesting, sort of upset scores. Army 27, Baylor 20 OT Mississippi State 16, UAB 10 OT Sylvester Crooms' job is saved! Okay maybe not. And so much for the progress Baylor made last year.
-
Even though his track record has been spotty since, Tyrone Willingham leaving the school was the worst thing that ever happened to the program. Given the limitations they have due to their academic requirements he acutally did a very good job recruiting and they were always competitive under him. Today with Mark Bradford out for the season and Evan Moore now out for a month they started a walk on and a true freshman at wide receiver.
-
Someone forgot to tell the Angels that their season is over. Oh well. Hope they win tommorrow though as there needs to be a little payback for the last two years where the Angels celebrated in Oakland.
-
Okay finally saw highlights and it was indeed Tulsa 24, Navy 23.
-
Anyone have the correct Navy/Tulsa score? I'm seeing different results everywhere I look.
-
It's not on ABC, it's on Fox Sports Net.

Jimbo and Loaded Glove failed to submit picks. Jimbo told me he was still in the contest but who knows. I'll use Spicy McHaggis as replacement for Jimbo and Sex Machine Gun as replacement for Loaded Glove.
