  1. God these Alabama fans are annoying yelling "balk" every time the North Carolina pitcher makes a move to first just because the Alabama pitcher got called on a clear balk the previous inning. I had no rooting interest in the game but the crowd now has me rooting for the Heels.
  2. Georgia Tech is the first team in the College World Series as they eliminated Charleston today 12-3. ESPN2's regional coverage starts today at 7 EST/4 PST.
  3. I hadn't known this before hand but according to this article the blood test for HGH can only detect HGH if the individual injected it right before the test. They had it in the Athens Olympics and to no surprise not a single athlete tested positive.
  4. Okay feel good story and all but come on Mike Rouse player of the game? Difference in the game? You know there was that two-run homer by the Big Hurt in a ten pitch at bat that was pretty important. Awww Timmy so upset over Jeter not coming thru in the clutch today he can't say anything at the end. Maybe they can clutch each other after the game.
  5. In fairness to Proctor he should have been out of the inning and Johnson's hit was a bloop.
  6. Why did I not have the mute on or otherwise I could have avoided Buck/McCarver popping boners over Nick Swisher, the team's best hitter, bunting. Ya brilliant fucking strategy. Chavez's back is still bothering him. He's looked awful up there today.
  7. Mike Rouse: Yankee Killer
  8. Street is starting to get my confidence back him in. But he did it against A-Rod, OMG THE MOST UNCLUTCH PLAYER OF ALL-TIME SO IT DOESN'T COUNT!!! Had to win tonight, Saarloos/Mussina is going to be a massacre.
  9. Aw dammit the game has started back up. And Giambi promptly hits a three-run homer, lead down to two. Why do they always prove me right?
  10. But he's a PVC~! I wish they'd call the A's/Yankees game. The A's are perfectly capable of blowing a five run lead late in a game and I'd prefer they not have the chance to do so.
  11. Wow looks like they are airing almost all the Super Regional games on ESPN or ESPN2. Coverage map for tommorrow's games
  12. Perez was 1 for 33 this year before that homerun. Okay maybe it is time for Randy Johnson to retire. He also gave up a hit to light hitting, emergency call up Mike Rouse tonight. And now he walks him. Ouch.
  13. The A's may very well be this year's Dodgers with injuries just killing their season. Both Eric Chavez (back) and Bobby Crosby (hand) are questionable for the entire Yankees series, both out of the lineup tonight.
  14. I really have a hard time believing Grimsley's attorney on the wiring to get Bonds. Could they really be that stupid to think Grimsley could get Bonds to confess what he does when Grimsley probably doesn't even know Bonds?
  15. Amphetamine use has been known for decades and really has never been hidden. Willie Mays and Hank Aaron used them.
  16. Funny I don't remember Yankee fans whining about Jeter's lack of "clutch" last season when he just .261 with a pathetic .355 SLG with RISP. Jeter is off to a hot start and we'll see if he can keep it up. Maybe he can actually have a better year than A-Rod for the first time in seven years.

    2006 MVP Watch #3

No I know I need to start typing these entries in Word first. I originally thought I was going to have Mauer in the Top 10 but he got squeezed out as Ramon Hernandez being tied for the league lead in Win Shares threw me for a loop. Mauer was probably 11th or 12th.
  18. I joked last week he'd be on the DL two weeks later. Apparantly I gave him too much credit. I've officially given up on him ever being healthy enough to reach his potential and I think I'm starting to side with re-signing Barry Ztio even at a ridiculous contract.

    2006 MVP Watch #3

Ugh, I had almost finished the entire entry and my dumbass clicks the back button by accident. Click forward, nothing there. So fuck it I'm not typing all that out again so here's the quick version of the Top 10 for each league and maybe I'll edit in some numbers later. Pujols still has a huge lead although it could be gone if he misses the full six weeks like many think he will. Edit: Okay I've put the numbers in now. National League 10. 20. Ouch, ratting out other players. Ya he won't be very popular in the clubhouse tommorrow.
  21. To show how slim the chances of Piazza becoming a star, nevermind one of the best hitting catchers of all-time, were just look at the other top players drafted from that decade and you see there is only three of them drafted after the 20th Round (John Smoltz, Mark Grace, Kenny Rogers) with Rogers being the next latest pick in the 39th Round. It's also ironic that the Dodgers #1 pick from the '88 Draft didn't even make it to the Majors.
  22. Super Regionals are set, best of three series start on Saturday. Oral Roberts at #1 Clemson College of Charleston at #8 Georgia Tech Missouri at #5 Cal State Fullerton North Carolina at #4 Alabama Oklahoma at #2 Rice South Carolina at #7 Georgia Miami at Mississippi Stanford at Oregon State
  23. The draft is tommorrow so I've decided just to do a quick list of the top players of each draft from the 1980's per Win Shares with a couple of other things thrown in. Now when putting this together I was quickly skimming over the list of players who played in the Majors from each draft so it's entirely possible I might have missed a key player or two so feel free to point out any omissions. 24. N.C. State knocked off defending national champ Texas and then STANFORD~ crushed the Wolf Pack 17-7 to advance to the Super Regional. Clemson, Oral Roberts, College of Charleston, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Miami, and Oregon State all advanced today as well. Cal State Fullerton and Fresno State are just underway. Fullerton advances with a win, Fresno wins and they'll play again tommorrow. Monday's Games (all regional finals) Missouri vs. Pepperdine Rice vs. Baylor (Baylor needs two wins) Oklahoma vs. Wichita State South Carolina vs. Evansville Georgia vs. Florida State Cal State Fullerton vs. Fresno State (if necessary)
  25. The big storyline was ended last episode so I'm not surprised that the "finale" was more of a set up for the final eight episodes. We know that whoever that guy is in Phil's crew (did we even get his name?) definently has a hard on for Tony. Damn and how does A.J. get a piece like that?
