  1. Already on the list (#62 I think) but I thought that was a bit high personally.
  2. Rhodes is on the DL but will be back fairly soon. Yankees could probably have him for almost nothing as the A's have a roster crunch right now with a bunch of players coming off the DL. You know the A's bullpen has been much better lately but both the A's losses this road trip were due to the bullpen. It's so hard to think about how the A's would be running away with the West if they had a good bullpen this year. Maybe The Avatar will pitch like he did in 2002 tommorrow. And maybe Jimmie Foxx will rise from the dead and hit three homeruns for the A's tommorrow.
  3. So you hate him because he gave an effort? Okay. And it looked about 10 feet behind him. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer but jeez who cares if he at least tries?
  4. Why because he hustles and enjoys the game? Actually I'm not even a big Byrnes fan only because there is a growing group of A's fans who I refer to as the "Byrnes Nazis" who think he's the greatest thing ever and get on anyone who criticizes him. Dotel is soooooo Billy Koch 2.0. When I say that I mean when Koch was with the A's in 2002 and he had a good year. But just like Koch, it is an adventure every time with Dotel and like Koch he blows quite a few big games. Still better than Arthur Rhodes obviously but we're closer snobs in Oakland for obvious reasons and we expect our closers to slam the door 1-2-3 every time. Hope they can win this in extras since The Avatar is pitching tommorrow.
  5. Yup. They and Lithuania are considered the biggest threats to the U.S. in the Olympics. I didn't realize Germany failed to qualify as they had a great showing at the World Championships in 2002, winning the bronze.
  6. Still left are Vinitari's field goals (maybe just the first one as they might only be doing stuff through 2003) and Montana's winning drive in Super Bowl XXIII. Can't think of anything else that would be left for Super Bowls.
  7. #35: Rams wins Super Bowl with game-ending tackle
  8. Not one mention of Jeremy Shockey?
  9. Well Germany is a better team than Italy and they have home court advantage for this game so no shocker that it's close. Edit: Is there anywhere online to find updates for the game? Can't even find a score on espn.com.
  10. ESPN has their copy and paste block on so here is the link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1852002 I heard a rumor that this might be due to a substance abuse problem.

    ESPN 25 best records

That didn't happen in the last 25 years. Anyways I never watch this crap but took a glance at the list online the other day and noticed they left off Rickey Henderson's stolen base record. Call me crazy but a record that is never going to be broken should probably have been on there.
  12. Check the game online towards the end of work to see Mulder give up the three run homer but come home and they were up 10-4. Damn long commute. Four out of five wins to start the road trip. Color me surprised.
  13. I don't know what it is. He just doesn't simply lose to the Yankees everytime, he gets shelled.
  14. Then you'd have to keep home about half the U.S. Olympic team and a lot of foreign athletes as well. Olympics stopped being an amateur event a loooooong time ago. Part of the reason we have the pros in basketball is because other countries were using professionals.
  15. Okay now his Masters performance was incredible and deserves to be on the list...but the hug is the moment? Maybe it was just a bad headline. #36: Tiger Woods hugs dad after record Masters
  16. http://sports.yahoo.com/oly/news;_ylc=X3oD...ov=ap&type=lgns I don't consider myself overly patriotic when it comes to the Olympics but this is a disgrace. They better get their act together for the Games.

  18. For Kotz, Tennessee unveils their throwback jerseys (60's to 70's era) they'll wear for the opener against UNLV.
  19. #37: Nolan Ryan hurls record 7th no-hitter
  20. Fun fact: Kris and his college teammate Billy Koch both found their current wives at the same strip club. Who said true love is dead?
  21. Right now only Manny Ramirez has a higher OPS in the A.L. than Travis Hafner. He's currently tied for the league lead in OBP with Melvin Mora and 3rd in slugging.
  22. And the A's beat the Tigers, Reds, Orioles, Mets, Dodgers, Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Giants in postseason series and that's just in Oakland. What does it have to do with anything? The Yankees/Red Sox rivalry never meant much to me as a kid and it's continued on as an adult.
  23. I always love as an A's fan that no matter what the subject you can count on a opposing fan to say "well your team chokes in the playoffs", as if I have anything to do with their Game 5 failures. In any event, the overhype by the media of every single game they play is what turns me off to the rivalry and I typically don't care much about east coast sports teams.
  24. I can give one parallel and that was Mark McGwire when he was traded to St. Louis. Most expected him to be a rental and sign with the Angels (who he grew up a fan of) that offseason but he fell in love with St. Louis and signed an extension before the season was over. Maybe Nomar, another So. Cal guy who could end up with the Angels or Dodgers, will fall in love with Chicago. Unrelated, the A's take three out of four in Arlington which is just huge considering their road woes the last two plus months. Now more "fun" with New York and Minnesota next.
  25. It doesn't deserve to be higher than Joe Carter's homerun for obvious reasons. I seriously doubt Steve Garvey's homerun to win the 1984 NLCS is going to make the list if it hasn't been on already so no reason Boone's should be this high. #38: Messier leads Rangers to Stanley Cup win
