  1. Hey I'm glad I decided to tune into Tuesday Night Sun Belt Footbaw for the last 45 seconds as MTSU wins on a hail mary, all be it a short one. And apparently ESPN had some goofy live chat thing going on the whole game on the top screen.
  2. Boo-urns. The Rays now have to win the pennant. No other result is acceptable.
  3. Yes it's White Sox closer John Jenks! Thank you Dick.
  4. If Brewers/Phillies goes six games, it will be truly amazing. BUT YOU CAN'T SCRIPT OCTOBER!!!! After long deliberation, I've decided I will root for the Phillies to win the N.L. pennant. Did I just jinx them?
  5. I'm confused by these TBS playoff promos. Did Bon Jovi win the Wild Card or something?
  6. Well poop.
  7. 6:30 PM CST on TBS. And go Twins.
  8. With the always hilarious Harris Poll out we can now start to talk BCS rankings. Currently their are four of the six computer ratings that are available public so we can get a decent idea of what the BCS would look like at the moment (official release is in three weeks). Here is the unofficial Top 14 per collegebcs.com. 1. Oklahoma 2. Alabama 3. LSU 4. Texas 5. Missouri 6. Penn State 7. Georgia 8. South Florida 9. USC 10. BYU 11. Utah 12. Texas Tech 13. Ohio State 14. Boise State The most interesting thing right now is the computers are in love with Utah as they are ranked #3 based on the computer averages behind Alabama and Oklahoma. On the other hand their rivals BYU are only #14 with the computer averages.
  9. Hey look, a poll! After what transpired this past week and the craziness of last year, it's safe to say that week to week you can never assume that the big dogs will survive unscathed, especially in conference play. LSU is off this week and BYU might as well be as they play Utah State on Friday but the other six Top 8 unbeatens all play in conference against unranked opponents that they should beat. Of those six teams, the one we know the least about is Texas Tech as I think this will be the first time this year anyone outside of Lubbock will even see one of their games as they played a laughably weak non-conference schedule (Eastern Washington, Nevada, SMU, UMass). For the Top 25 games this week, I'm sure as early as two weeks ago ESABCPN was thrilled about their primetime regional games for this week but both games have lost a lot of thunder. Ohio State didn't put up any sort of fight in their much hyped game against USC and then Wisconsin had an epic fail in the second half against Michigan on Saturday. Oregon, who I think is now starting the equipment manager at quarterback, was upended by Boise State the week before last and we all know about the Trojans being clamped down by the Beavers last Thursday. The night will end with two very disappointing, two loss teams. In other Top 25 match-up we have the biggest game at Vanderbilt since well, ever? Auburn comes to Music City and not only that for the first time ever Gameday will be at Vandy. Is Vandy for real? Probably not, but it's still fun to see them in a game of national importance. Hey you know the baseball regular season is over now when we get Tuesday Night Sun Belt Footbaw! I know I'm excited. And finally, remember when people actually gave a shit about FSU/Miami? Seems like a long time ago now. 10. ESPN2 will televise the White Sox game tomorrow so there's your non-Hawk option.
  11. Twins are up 6-0 in the 8th and still batting. So barring a 9th inning meltdown it will be a must win for the White Sox tomorrow to force a one game playoff on Tuesday.
  12. A failed bridge? I'll probably jinx it, but I'll be shocked if it's not Cubs/Phillies in the NLCS. Most people thought that last year. At least there isn't a completely undesirable NLCS match-up out there like the Rockies/D-Backs last season.
  13. Damn and just to make it hurt a little more, Church nearly hit that one out.
  14. White Sox win 5-1 so the make up game will be necessary. It will be nationally televised on WGN tomorrow at 2:00 PM EST/11:00 AM PST. Of course that means if you are home during the day tomorrow you'll be watching with the mute on.
  15. Uggla goes back-to-back to make it 4-2 Marlins and then Ryan Braun hits a two run homerun to make it 3-1 Brewers. Poor Mets fans.
  16. Wes Helms goes deep, 3-2 Marlins in the 8th.
  17. First Harris Poll of the year You remember the Harris Poll, right? Its that poll that no one pays attention but does count for one-third of the BCS rankings. Hey look USC is #7! Woo hoo! And somebody gave Tennessee a vote.
  18. You've seen the rest, now you'll see...more of the rest. It's my own personal college football Top 25 that shouldn't be read by anyone. I did this for about a month last year before getting Bored with it and I expect the same this year. We're not even halfway through the season but were already down to 13 BCS conference unbeatens and 18 total in Division I-A. My feeling is at this point if you are still undefeated I'm going to rank you, regardless of schedule and conference affiliation. Also I try to keep the rankings based what you've done so far this year and who you've played which will explain why I have Texas Tech so low as they should be embarrassed for scheduling such a weak non-conference schedule and there is no justification to rank them in the Top 10 at the moment. I'm sure I will end up contradicting myself as early as this poll though, plus I'm taking about ten minutes to put this together. 1. Alabama 2. Oklahoma 3. Penn State 4. LSU 5. Missouri 6. Texas 7. BYU 8. Utah 9. South Florida 10. Boise State 11. Vanderbilt 12. Auburn 13. Georgia 14. Kansas 15. Wisconsin 16. Florida 17. USC 18. Northwestern 19. Connecticut 20. Ball State 21. Oklahoma State 22. Tulsa 23. Kentucky 24. Texas Tech 25. Virginia Tech

  20. New Coaches Poll No surprise Oklahoma is #1 but Alabama only gets to #4 behind LSU and Missouri. Penn State jumps to #6, BYU had a great practice this week as they jump to #7 and are in fantastic shape to make the MNC, USC only drops to #9 so they are still alive, Georgia to #10, and Florida to #13. In the AP poll Alabama did jump to #2 but it doesn't count.
  21. I was disappointed when they first revealed the plans for Cisco Field that the foul territory was going to be relatively small as that's the one thing that still makes the Coliseum unique.

  23. The Monkey Man, ouch. Carnival, double ouch. It was an ugly week and it's created a big shake up in the Top 10. Now logically you would think Mecca being ranked #2 last week and now one of only two unbeatens left would take top spot with Vampiro69's stunning loss. If you are using logic, then you don't understand the BCS! Mecca not only does not take over #1, he drops in the rankings due to a lackluster 6 for 14 performance. The plight of still fly has been documented the last couple of weeks and he finally gets a little bit of respect from the "voters" and rejoins the Top 10. Also Agent Bond34 thinks he's back in the Top 10 but he thought wrong! The big winner of the week though is our new #1. Bored Championship Series Rankings thru Week 5 1.
