    Batista out indefinitely

That wouldn't be very smart. Meltz said TNA already has an offer prepared for Benoit in case he does not re-sign, and they are offering a lot more than WWE is. Also remember, it's a lot more money for a lesser schedule.

TNA Announces Major debut @ Genesis

Jay Reso used the name Christian Cage on independents before joining the World Wrestling Federation in 1998, where his name was shortened to just Christian.

Is anyone out there thinking... Mr. Kennedy?

    Batista out indefinitely

JBL is totally about to luck into another title reign. You watch.
  5. QuestionMan

    Batista out indefinitely

Either that or JBL will get it back. JBL seems to be Vince's go-to guy when they need to take the belt off a face suddenly. If I had the booking wand and we needed the belt off Batista A.S.A.P., I'd have JBL and Batista argue about who is the captain of Team Smackdown, JBL start trashtalking him, Eddie get all headstrong and be like "JBL, Batista could beat you in a title match anytime! Like tonight!" Then when Batista is supposed to walk out of the ring, no one shows up. JBL walks back through the curtain and he comes back dragging Batista's unconscious body through the curtain with the help of...Eddie. It's assumed Eddie beat the shit out of Batista backstage (not visible though because 'Tista can't take any bumps or whatnot), and they both roll him in the ring for JBL to get the easy pin on and the World Title. Yeah, it's lame as shit and reminds me a lot of the Fingerpoke of Doom, but the World Title already had a vacancy less than a year ago, and it doesn't need another lineage break so soon. And you can't just have your World Champ sit on the sidelines for months. That's what Paul Heyman did with Shane Douglas in 1998 when Douglas destroyed his elbow as ECW Champion. He was so desperate not to break the lineage that he just let Douglas sit out as the ECW Champion for 8 months. Needless to say, those 8 months were not nice to ECW. Plus, you get the surreal image of JBL & Eddie helping each other and embracing, and Cole & Tazz could sell it as so repulsive that Eddie was so seething with jealousy that Eddie would betray his friend by helping the guy (JBL), who gave his own mother a heartattack a year ago, beat him for the title. And JBL could name Eddie Batista's replacement. Lame, but I feel it's the best you can do and just let JBL be a heel transition champion for Benoit (given he re-signs), Undertaker, or get crazy and let Mysterio have a run.

    Batista out indefinitely

The problem with putting the belt back on Eddie is that there is a precedent already that Eddie can't handle the pressure of being champ when business is bad. He was overanalyzing all the low PPV numbers and bad house show numbers when he was champ, and was basically turning himself so nutty that Vince felt he had to take the belt off of him to keep him sane when he was pegged to be a long-term champion until at least November 2004. Who's to say he wouldn't do that again? That's probably why Eddie won't get it again.

Any guy that looks at that picture and the most they get out of it is critiquing Trish's face needs to have their penis removed.

    Older WWE DVDs......

Hulk Still Rules was one of the last DVDs that came out before the transition from WWF to WWE took place, so that DVD is out of print as is everything else from the "WWF" era.

The OAO RAW thread - 11/07/05

Jonathan Coachman and Todd Grisham talked about Joey Styles during Greg Helms' match on WWE.Com Heat. On it, Coachman says "I'm fine with being the straight man in the middle, so let's just quit talking about Joey Styles." Sounds to me like they are going back to the 3-man setup.
  11. QuestionMan

Okay, someone explain this to me...

I've always thought they should go in there and use CGI or some shit to overlay the WWF symbol with the WWE symbol
  12. QuestionMan

Okay, someone explain this to me...

According to Meltzer... In 1994, Vince McMahon & the World Wildlife Fund made an agreement that Vince would never market his company as "WWF" outside of North America. The Fund is based out of the United Kingdom. Vince never once followed this agreement, and when business in North America started tanking due to the botched InVasion angle and they made plans to go to the UK a lot more, the Fund got pissed and finally filled a lawsuit in late-01 and in April 2002, a judge ruled in favor of the Fund. The reason the block logo doesn't have to be censored is because in that 1994 contract, the Fund signed away it's consent for Vince to use it under any circumstances, so it can't be changed. But they never agreed upon anything on the scratch logo that was installed in 1998.

    Vince isn't happy with Coach

No, he can't. Coach replacing JR has completely exposed how horrible Lawler has become. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You apparently did not watch Taboo Tuesday. Lawler put on one of his best performances in years with Styles to carry him along.

    No Mercy buyrate is in

Freefall is losing $80 million in one year like WCW did in 2000. WWE is still nowhere near that, financially. They are just as much adept in the financial apartment as their creative team is not adept at putting on good TV.

Benoit's contract up in 3 weeks

The paydays for the Italy tours are supposedly mindblowing.
  17. QuestionMan

Benoit's contract up in 3 weeks

I'm pretty sure this is a new deal. I don't see how WWE would have signed him to a near 6-year deal in 2000. Their standard contract length is 3 years.
  18. QuestionMan

Benoit's contract up in 3 weeks

Man, WWE is practically begging TNA to get big. They better be glad Tajiri signed a new deal, or else he probably would have went to TNA too. But if they were to nab up Jericho, Benoit, and Christian, that locks up the TNA market for Canada. They could flesh out so many arenas with those guys alone.
  19. QuestionMan

Benoit's contract up in 3 weeks

Well, Paul Heyman made a suggestion to the bookers about Benoit vs. UT at WM21. He wanted Benoit to return to Smackdown (with a made up contract rule about when he lost the World Title he had to return to Smackdown), turn heel and Heyman would be his manager to build up to Benoit vs. UT at WM21. Since it was suggested by Heyman, it was promptly denied.
  20. QuestionMan

    John Cena

The problem with that call is that Cena was the U.S. Champion at the time. The belt hadn't even been active for a year, and it would have damaged it terribly if the lineage got broken so quickly, although some would argue that Big Show winning the title in October 2003 and not making his first title defense until February 2004 against Billy Gunn did enough damage.

    Austin Walks Out Again

The original plan going into the PPV was that Jonathan Coachman would defeat Steve Austin after interference from Mark Henry. When Austin (who would have been wrestling his first official match since Wrestlemania XIX vs. The Rock in March 2003) learned of the plan, sources indicated he was extremely upset over the creative direction, which had led to issues between he and WWE. Issues could not be resolved to Austin's liking, so Austin's match with Coach at Taboo Tuesday is off. credit: PWInsider EDIT: Meltzer says that Austin actually suffered a back injury over the weekend moving furniture, but numerous sources said it was nothing Austin couldn't have worked through without a pain pill if he was inspired, which he obviously was not when he found out the planned finish of the match and the angle. It was told to Austin on Sunday that the angle would not result into J.R.'s return to TV, so Austin pulled himself out using the back injury excuse, as he felt he didn't want to be involved anymore with J.R.'s storyline removal and since he thought it made zero sense to do the planned finish, since obviously a feud between Austin and Mark Henry is not in the cards. As a point of reference, Austin's unhappiness began when he saw the angle where he stunned all 4 McMahons at WWE Homecoming used as the storyline excuse used to take J.R. off TV, as he was told nothing of the sort before he did the angle. Austin felt he was intentionally misled, as Steph & Vince knew that if Austin knew the real purpose of the angle, he wouldn't have done it. Needing a suitable replacement for Austin, World Heavyweight Champion Batista will now face Coach (with Goldust & Vader in his corner) at Taboo Tuesday. J.R.'s job status is no longer on the line.

    24/7 Online November Line-up

In the build-up to Survivor Series, Ludvig Borga faced Tatanka, who was undefeated at the time. Yokozuna came in when the ref was down, banzai dropped Tatanka twice, and Borga pinned him when the ref recovered with one pinky finger. It was announced that due to injuries Tatanka suffered from the drops, he would not be medically cleared to compete at Survivor Series. They announced The Undertaker as his replacement, complete with UT opening his coat with the American flag embroidered inside it. The next week, Lex Luger faced Quebecer Pierre on RAW. In retaliation for what happened to Tatanka, Luger used his "loaded" forearm to knock out Pierre to win the match. It was announced on the Superstars before the PPV (which was on Wednesday) that Pierre would not be able to wrestle due to injuries from the forearm shot. He was replaced with Crush. In about April or May 1993, Crush faced WWF Champion Yokozuna on RAW, and they had made a big deal about Randy Savage sort of mentoring Crush for the title match. Yokozuna wiped the floor with Crush and finished him off with the banzai drop. After the match, Crush banzai dropped him 3 more times while Savage just sat idlely at the announcer's table. When he returned a few months later, he did a deal where he called Savage into the ring. He confronted him about how he left him alone to be attacked and eventually started dropping hints that he had been conversing with Mr. Fuji, mentioning hat Mr. Fuji was from Hawaii like he was. Then Yokozuna, Fuji, and Jim Cornette came out and Savage bowed up, while Crush completed the heel turn by attacking Savage from behind and mauling him. He then became an associate of Yokozuna and Mr. Fuji.

    TNA Gets Monday Night Special

TNA Wrestling has been granted a 2-hour, Monday night special on Monday, February 13th, 2006 on Spike TV at 9pm, RAW's old time-slot on the network. RAW is pre-empted that night due to the Westminster Dog Show on USA Network. RAW will instead be taped that week and air as Saturday Night's Main Event on NBC on Saturday, February 18th, 2006, going head to head with TNA Impact. It should be noted that when WCW Monday Nitro debuted, RAW was pre-empted due to the U.S. Open (tennis) on USA. Spike TV will be keeping their eye on the Monday special's rating closely and if there is a marginal spike in the rating, the odds of a new Monday Night War taking place will be extremely better. credit: PWInsider Elite

    Austin Walks Out Again

As far as I'm concerned, Austin has the right to call bullshit on anything he thinks is stupid because if it weren't for him, Vince McMahon would have gone out of business (they were near bankruptcy in 1997) and Eric Bischoff/WCW would have won the war.
