From PWTorch: Randy Orton didn't suffer a concussion. That appears to be part of the storyline of the match and may be part of where they're going from this point with Orton. The concussion storyline could possibly play a significant role in a shift of how his character is portrayed. With Batista taking over what was originally scheduled to be a Rumble win by Orton (months ago, when the original idea was that Orton was going to have to win the Rumble to earn a title shot against Triple H at WrestleMania), Orton has to change to not appear lost in the shuffle. It's acknowledged - even by him - that his character has gone off course, so some moves will be made to give him a new direction.

Orton being in the title match at WrestleMania 21 would make zero sense. He's not deserving of a title match anymore after HHH beat him clean at the Royal Rumble. At least Shawn Michaels had the excuse that he was never truly beaten by HHH that let him squeeze into the title match. It would be just as stupid as Kevin Nash being named #1 contender to the NWA Title, despite being the first person eliminated from the triple threat match at Final Resolution.

A further backstory to this is that Cena was already teasing a heel turn. Kidman & Cena were teamed up in the WWE Tag Title Tournament (that Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle won), and Kidman got pinned in a match agsinst Reverend D-Von & Ron Simmons I do believe. And Cena got pissed at Kidman and was teasing a heel turn.

The story, which would have been heavily reported within the TV industry if true and well known immediately within wrestling circles, was from from several days ago, passed along on the net over the past two days, nearly a week after it was originally published. It was then repeated without being checked.

Another positive from this is that if Smackdown goes to a basic cable network, they don't have to worry about stupid crap. You know how idiotic it is for it to be 2005 and the word "ass" still has to be censored? Also, I bet John Cena is salivating at the prospect of not having to cleanse his raps to a certain degree. And to burst everyone's bubble about Smackdown being UPN's highest-rated show, it's not. America's Next Top Model creams it in ratings whenever it's running fresh episodes. In response to the Bay Area article, it shows you how prepared Mrs. Susan Young was. She still called the company the "World Wrestling Federation." Also, how awesome is it that Smackdown got cancelled during JBL's reign? That can't look good on a resume.

Exactly. Same here. And plus, the UPN channel here is owned by a bunch of religious people, so all during Smackdown they flood the commercial breaks with messages about how they don't condone what is being aired at the moment. And yeah, the video quality is crap. Sometimes I only watch Velocity just to see what Smackdown would look like with good quality picture.

Seconding this thought. Did they not realize that having a PPV on a work day when the buddies you split the bill with (assuming you have them, and many do) are busy and unavailable is a GOOD IDEA? I guess 180,000 buys was considered a success. Unless that is the case, I don't know what the hell they're thinking.

If they were ever going to do a War Games match, it'd probably have to be RAW vs. Smackdown.
