Technically, it was The Rock at WM2000. He won the Rumble but didn't win the match at WM2000.
-
Remember when they tried to make Bradshaw a main-eventer on RAW at the very beginning of the brand extension? Good times.
-
Meltzer explained this one. He said that she was the daughter of some independent wrestling promoter, and he wanted a son so badly, than when his baby was born a girl, he was so stubborn about wanting a boy, that he still named his daughter Mike.
-
Meltzer said his contract expires on 2/1/04, which makes sense since he was signed in January of 2002.

I remember when Triple H & Edge teamed on one of the first brand extension-era Smackdowns and Triple H told Edge if he wanted his respect, "To go win yourself some world titles."

What are your most memorable storyline abortions from 2003? I'll start it off with an excerpt from my TV report of the very first segment of the very first RAW of the year: Match #1 No Disqualification Handicap Match The Dudley Boys vs. 3 Minute Warning, Rico, & Batista The Dudleys' entrance takes the place of the opening RAW pyro. We find out that tonight, Scott Steiner and Triple H will take part in a Pose Down Challenge. What's that sound I now hear? Ah yes, it's television remotes being clicked over to Joe Millionaire. Bischoff comes out and mandates that some attitude changes will take place. Recap is shown of The Dudleys helping J.R. & Lawler beat Storm and Regal. It should be noted that J.R. is now 2-0 in his wrestling career. This will be the "Year of Eric Bischoff" supposedly, so expect WWE to lose $80 million. Bischoff introduced 3MW, Rico, and Batista. Batista will be one of the 15 RAW entrants into the Royal Rumble. The match is basically a looooooong squash as the Dudleys get zero offense. Hey, remember on the last RAW when Batista walked out on 3MW during their match against Kane & Rob Van Dam? And remember when 3MW teased a breakup? And remember when Batista and D-Von used to be friends\enemies? 3, count them, 3 storylines forgotten in the span of one segment. 2003 is not looking good. The match part of the pain ends at 4:28 after Batista hits D-Von with his Sitout Powerbomb. Bleh. The beatdown continues. Bischoff slaps D-Von then we fade into commercial. Winners: 3 Minute Warning, Rico, & Batista via pinfall

The Iron Man match was the most overrated piece of garbage. Ever.
-
Bischoff later said he was kidding.
-
Remember when RVD used to point to himself after every move he did in ECW? How fucking annoying.
-
I wonder what "Get Well" to Scott Steiner means.
-
Well... ...South Park's Mr. Garrison has become a household name.
-
It'll never happen because Vince McMahon's philosophy is that regular or small-sized guys will not ever draw money in any way.

What sense does it make to have Austin come out and Stunner Cena?

How are they going to clip it down to 8 seconds when the match itself barely lasted 8 seconds?
-
I consider Owen Hart to still be a part of the current generation of wrestling, so I don't think he should be in "Old School" status yet. Just my two cents.

I always thought that Nowinski should have won the male side for the first Tough Enough, because Nowinski had a natural heel aura and charisma that Maven was nowhere near. And I am happy to say that I was at the RAW when Nowinski made his debut, helping out Regal against Bradshaw I think. June 10th, 2002 in Atlanta, GA. Something else important happened that day...what was it. Oh yeah, Stone Cold walked out of the company.
-
Yeah, I love how Torrie Wilson conviently forgot that Dawn Marie sexed her dad to his literal death. I guess hatred for Shaniqua will drive a woman to that madness. Or something.
-
The Nowinski/Molly angle was just forgotten. That happened in mid-'02. Nowinski and Holly were about to have a mixed tag team match against Bubba Ray Dudley and Trish. Before the match, Nowinski was talking with Regal, and he was like, "Tonight, after we beat Trish and Bubba Ray...I'm going to break...Molly's...hymen."
-
Molly got laid out during one of the Hollys/Dudleys brawls and Hurricane came out and carried her away to safety. And the next week, Spike and Hurricane had a European Title match. Hurricane ran away and backstage she appeared with Hurricane as Mighty Molly.

I remember visiting the CNN Center in Atlanta September of 1996 with my 7th grade class. We were walking down a hallway and we saw Tony Schiavone and Dusty Rhodes in some room with glass walls doing some sort of voice taping or whatever. My friend David made a sign that said "nWo owns WCW" and Dusty shook his hands and ran to the door in an effort to shoo us away while Schiavone laughed. Seeing Dusty Rhodes try to run was worth that field trip.

This is what the preview says: What a year it was for RAW! Relive the action, excitement, and many of the highlights from 2003 next Monday when WWE presents the Best of RAW 2003 on Spike TV. 2003 saw new eras begin on RAW as Goldberg made his WWE debut and young guns such as Randy Orton made their mark for the first time. It also saw the end of other eras as WWE said goodbye to Stone Cold Steve Austin and, more recently, Mick Foley.

I would have loved for this to have happened before the 1994 steroid trial.

So did John Cena win the U.S. Title? Or was this yet another non-title match?
