WWE General Discussion - April 2009

DirecTV's listing for the new WWE Superstars show on WGN lists former WWE announcer Kevin Kelly as returning to host the show. Kelly was released from the company shortly before WrestleMania 19 in 2003. After his release, he was publicly critical of Triple H's political power in storylines and match results.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

Then why does the original King of the Ring poster have a picture of Taker and Ahmed on it? I don't know, but Ahmed did wrestle on the KOTR ppv, losing to HHH in one of the semifinals. He turned on Taker and joined the NOD 8 days afterward. He didn't really turn on Taker. He came out and told him to stop listening Paul Bearer, who was commanding him to beat the shit out of Faarooq after beating him. When he kept ignoring Ahmed, Ahmed beat the shit out of him. It didn't come off like an official heel turn because he didn't show any compassion to Faarooq.

The Savage / WWE bad blood

I call bullshit on that. Vince tried fanatically to bring him back in 1996. Also, Vince publicly saying goodbye to him and wishing him well doesn't jive with that either.

    24/7 Shorties

A guy named Tyler Mane. He never worked for Vince. He was in WCW in 1989 as Woman's bodyguard for a short time, then disappeared to Puerto Rico and Japan before coming back in 1993 as Big Sky. His second run was just as short as the first one and he retired from wrestling in 1996 to pursue acting. His highest-profile role was Sabretooth in 2000's X-Men, a role that was originally meant for Kevin Nash but he couldn't take because of WCW conflicts. He pretty much sucked as a wrestler.

WWE General Discussion - April 2009

In my opinion, Smackdown and Raw should be the WWE "brand". They are just two different shows that would focus on the same roster. ECW should be treated as a developmental promotion, with mostly younger stars and a few veterans mixed in to help teach the new guys. They should just tape ECW every few weeks instead of pairing it with Raw or Smackdown tapings and give it a smaller, distinct look in smaller venues to allow a more intimate, indy feel. ECW, being on Sci-fi, could also be pushed as a more teen or adult friendly program by featuring more hardcore style matches. I never understood how having Smackdown and Raw separate would help differentiate house shows. For years, WWE always had 2 or 3 different touring teams for house shows since the roster was generally big enough to support it. They didn't need brands to do this. Yeah, there were always an A show and B show on the road back as far as I can remember.. Yup... the WWF Champion would usually headline one and the IC Champion would usually headline the other. They would also have C-level shows sometimes headlined by the Tag Champs back when that title actually meant something.

    JBL Says Goodbye

It sounds like he's totally disassociating from wrestling, aside from funding OVW.

WTF? Steamboat's comeback will end as well as Paul Orndorff's if they aren't careful Steamboat doesn't have an atrophied right arm like Orndorff does.

I never even spotted Sunny in the match. I also thought it was sad that the announcers didn't notice Molly Holly until she was eliminated.

I'm not a CM Punk mark, but how cool would it be to see him cash in his title shot tonight if Orton wins the title to finally get his revenge over Orton screwing him out of the World Title?
