QuestionMan replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
Bret Hart was approached by WWE to be on Raw on Monday, but he turned them down. On TSN's "Off the Record" last night, the host asked Hart about the show and he said, "I don't think you'll see me on that show anytime soon." -- PWT ==== Gangrel, Jim Neidhart, and Mae Young are confirmed for Raw. -- Meltz -

Yep, that's where Vince came up with the gimmick way back in 1990. When he told Vince he had a mortician's license, Vince turned him into Paul Bearer. -
So much for that APA reunion. Or was JBL in his APA garb? And is this airing after Armageddon? If so, I'd think this kind of gives away the result of Jericho/Orton.

Paul Bearer was invited to come to the Raw 15th Anniversary show. Though he wanted to, he declined the invite, stating that the funeral home he now operates on the gulf coast of Alabama requires him to be on call 24/7 and couldn't risk being so far away if he was needed. No word if they wanted him to appear with Undertaker or in a seperate deal. -- PWI -

Sunny is now being advertised on WWE.Com as part of the Raw 15th Anniversary show. She had previously been told that they weren't going to advertise her and wanted her appearance to be a surprise. -- Meltzer I don't see this mentioned on WWE.Com anywhere. -
In a pre-show meeting with all the talent this afternoon, TNA President Dixie Carter offered releases to anyone that was unhappy and wanted out. Senshi was the only one who accepted the offer, so he's gone from TNA. His departure will likely be explained on TV as him being the one who got the box with the pink slip. -- PWTorch

Without Ric Flair and a largely flat show - not to mention up against a close New England Patriots game as they tried to remain undefeated - Raw dropped this week by nearly 10 percent. The first hour rating was a 3.2 (3.24 to be precise) and a 3.2 in the second hour (3.23 to be precise) for a 3.2 overall rating, down from last week's 3.5 rating. This week's rating is considerably lower than the rating for the first week of December last year - which was 3.7. The last time a rating was lower than this week's for the first week of December was Dec. 1, 1997, which drew a 3.0. -

I think "Doom" and "Southland Tales" are more damning than making an appearance on WWE once every three years. -

I agree. It wouldn't kill The Rock to show up, talk shit for 10 minutes, makes jokes about Vince and Hornswoggle, and beat the fuck out of Coach again. -
Edge looked like he had a bit of a gut on Smackdown.

-Scott Hall's last voice contact with anyone was Sunday morning. As the afternoon went on, and he didn't show up on time and wasn't answering his phone, concern grew he was going to no-show. There was hope even during the show that he'd finally make it to the building. Then he sent a text message or voice mail saying he had food poisoning and couldn't make it. -Kevin Nash was disappointed and felt let down by Hall no-showing. -Samoa Joe was asked to go to the ring, cut a promo on Hall to try to take the heat off of the company for a major star no-showing, and then shift to putting over the guys on the roster and finally introduce Eric Young as the replacement. Joe's promo went more than five minutes longer than planned and incorporated a lot more content, especially that aimed at Nash, than was planned. -When Joe leaned over the top rope and asked someone off camera if they were mad, then shrugged and said, "Go ahead and fire me, I don't care," he was looking at TNA President Dixie Carter. She was legitimately upset with him "going into business for himself" and taking so long. Nash was legitimately upset that Joe turned Hall's no-show into a rant against him. (What's ironic is that Nash is one of the key people who pushed hard for an extended period of time to get TNA management to take interest in signing Joe when he was in ROH; Nash was a big fan of Joe's ROH matches he saw on DVD.) -After the match, Nash returned to the back right away and waited for Joe. When Joe returned to the back, Nash confronted him and a heated verbal exchange with some shoving ensued. Joe backed down and avoided the situation escalating. -At an all-talent meeting today, Terry Taylor brought everyone's contract with him. Dixie Carter said that if anyone was upset and unhappy with their job in TNA, they would be willing to void their contract on the spot. Senshi took them up on the offer. (Senshi also happened to be one of the people who grabbed a brief case in the "Feast or Fire" match.) -Joe was the first wrestler to speak at the meeting. He gave an emotional apology for going overboard the night before and said he hoped his apology would be accepted. -Booker T and Kurt Angle gave pep-talks about staying positive and keeping things moving in the right direction. -- PWTorch

Kelly Kelly was said to be devastated backstage after her match with Layla on ECW Tuesday night. She spent a lot of time training and practicing her handspring elbow with Layla and hit it numerous times before the show, but botched it in front of the live crowd. She won a lot of respect backstage for taking it so seriously. -- PWInsider -
I thought ECW was the top rated program on Sci Fi? It is.

Watch SD programming on an HDTV and you'll want HD for everything. It hurts.

I thought that Regal/Benoit match was the Brian Hildebrand show? -
Weren't there reports recently that Sid wouldn't be making a comeback because he told Vince he couldn't pass the new drug tests? Maybe that's one of the things they are "working out".
-
During a recent interview with Live Audio Wrestling, former WWF and WCW Champion Sid Vicious confirmed that he was in talks to return to WWE and mentioned that he had spoken directly to Vince McMahon about it on more than one occassion. "We have been talking for a while now and trying to get things worked out," Sid said. When questioned about TNA, he said, "I think TNA is great for the boys to have another place to work, but they can't help me reach some of my renewed goals, such as performing in front of 80,000 fans again." Sid, who recently turned 47, is said to be in fantastic shape for his age and fully recovered from his horrific broken leg at WCW's "Sin" PPV in January 2001. He said his main reasoning for wanting to return full-time to WWE is to see the world again. "There are a lot of guys who hate the road and the travel. Not me. I absolutely love seeing all this world has to offer and never get tired of it. It's why I want to come back the most," Sid said.

It's a shame Austin walked out and messed up everything. I was really digging the Flair, Anderson, Benoit, & Guerrero group they had on Raw for a little bit and was looking forward to Austin vs. Guerrero at King of the Ring that year.
-
Well, Flair was feuding with Steve Austin at that point, so he definitely was a heel. The Raw in question was the night after Judgment Day, where Flair put himself in a Handicap match with the Big Show vs. Austin.
-
I only saw it as a way to say, "Hey everyone, LOOK! Ric Flair's really a heel now!"

Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL), chairman of a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection, said he plans to convene hearings on steroids in sports, focusing on baseball and professional wrestling, when Congress returns from its winter recess. His remarks came one day after the indictment of all-time MLB home run king Barry Bonds by a federal grand jury for four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice, all felonies. Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), the top-ranking Republican on the subcommittee, has been publicly critical in the past of WWE for what he thought was an insufficient response to the subcommittee's written, specific requests for information on WWE's Wellness Policy. TNA recently trumpeted the hiring of Booker T. who recently quit WWE and was publicly critical of his suspension for violating the terms of their Wellness Policy. Both WWE and TNA are expected to be involved. -- Baltimore Sun & Dave Meltzer =================== Thoughts on what will come of this?

RVD was a total misuse. The fact they waited until 2006 to put the title on him was a huge blunder. He was ready to be champ in 2002 when he was clearly the top face of the company (when Rock and Austin weren't around). What HHH did to him in 2002 completely ruined any chance for the company to make any real money off of him.

I liked how J.R. totally blew off Jericho trying to get over the name of his new finisher.
