He's exactly right. O.J. Simpson is no longer regarded as a legendary football player. He's regarded as a murderer who got away with it. And O.J. didn't even kill a child in cold blood. -

What is insane is that the fans were chanting "WE WANT BENOIT" at a point where he was likely inside his house with his dead wife and dead son inside it. Morbid. -

LATEST FROM DAVE MELTZER The WWE web site reported that Chris Benoit sent some curious text messages early Sunday morning, which concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, WWE's VP of Government Relations to call Fayette County sheriffs on Monday to check the residence. Benoit sent the text messages to Chavo Guerrero, one of his close friends. The story said WWE officials learned of Benoit's death at 4 p.m. from the local authorities. They gathered the wrestlers to the ring area where they were told only of the deaths of Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel. They were told the live show was being canceled. WWE will go on with regular programming tomorrow in San Antonio, with Raw & ECW tapings not based on either a tribute to Chris Benoit or continuing the Vince McMahon angle. -

"Well, I wouldn't be crying, I'll tell you that. This has been a terrible day, and sadly it's probably going to get worse from here. There is a lot coming out and a lot that has yet to come out, and unfortunately I don't think anyone should be waiting on a potential best-case scenario." -- Bryan Alvarez -

If those details are true, this is sick. What was going through his head during the time she was dead and Daniel was still alive? How was Benoit hiding the fact he killed Nancy away from Daniel for 24 hours? Did he actively know he was going to kill Daniel before he did it? I really hope he left a note or told Chavo or Dean or anybody something detailing his thought process during this whole thing. I really want to know what was going on in his head when he did this. This is all so very sad. -

They said there was "an instrument of death" at the scene, so he definitely didn't do it with his bare hands. -

They were somewhat close. Benoit's first ever match in WCW in July 1992 was a tag match with Wellington as his partner. -

I also feel terrible for Benoit's immediate family. His parents and siblings were on the DVD (their segments were also shown on Raw tonight) and they all seemed like geniunely sweet people. -

I've loved Benoit ever since I was a little kid when he first started in WCW. I remember when I met him backstage after WCW Nitro in May 1996 (the Scott Hall debut show) and he was so nice to me and my friend, I never forgot any of it. The last time I have (and likely ever will) freaked out in happiness because of wrestling was when he won the belt at WM20. This whole thing is just completely deflating me. -

FROM PWTORCH WWE.com is reporting that the Fayette County Sheriff's department in Georgia has informed WWE that Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit died as a result of a double murder-suicide. As reported by the AP and local Atlanta TV affiliates, an autopsy performed on Tuesday will reveal more about the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Official toxicology results will not be available until early July. WWE provides a timeline on the events in the deaths: - Benoit was not at the Smackdown/ECW house show in Beaumont on Saturday, or in Houston for the Vengeance PPV due to what Benoit informed WWE as a family emergency. - Benoit sent "curious text messages" to friends on Sunday morning, and concerns over the messages were relayed to WWE representative Richard Hering. - Richard Hering spoke to local authorities on Monday morning, requesting a "wellness check" at the Benoit residence. - Local authorities found the bodies of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel at 2:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon after. Initial evidence has led authorities to believe Nancy and Daniel were killed sometime during the weekend, then Benoit killed himself on Monday. -- WWE officials in Corpus Christi were informed of the deaths at 4:00 p.m. WWE then held a meeting with wrestlers and talent, informing them of the deaths. -
