I'll retract what I said then about the yelling, because yeah, it was pretty muffled. I tried hard to listen but couldn't hear anything. But what's yelling and screaming if you're not physically focusing on what's being attacked? When someone throws something on my arm, my first response is not to just lay on my back prone. I'm admittedly just reaching for stuff because you attacked my posting skillz, but still!

A shitty poster who could sell a chair attack on my arm better than you in my sleep. Seriously, for one you were staring right at the guy who clocked you with the belt for 2 or 3 full seconds before he even moved. And two, your idea of selling a brutal arm attack is to...roll over on your side for a second and then immediately just lay on your back with both arms outstretched so he can hit you again? Whether you're a wrestler or a referee, everyone's a human with a survival voice. You focus on your arm like it's being cut off and make those motherfuckers kick you back and hold you down to get your arm. Those guys were totally putting a number on you and you weren't even screaming or anything. At least yell like you're dying and then gradually lower the volume of your yells the more they brutalize you. They were really laying it in and you were selling like they were hitting you with a blunt pillow. Damn, dude.

That's some top-notch reporting, considering she was in the graphic shown on Raw. -

Damn. That would have been awesome. I'm hoping Lita is lying about not showing up like Paul Bearer did on his site for WM20. -

The entire reason Savage left in 1994 was because he wanted to be a full-time wrestler. His contract was up and Vince thought his days doing that were over. He wanted him to be a commentator that only ocassionally wrestled in special circumstances (such as the Crush angle), but Savage wanted to be full-time because this was money-fueled. Vince was going to pay him like he was a commentator, not a wrestler. Many feel like Vince wanted to keep Savage's salary the same because of the respect he had for him, but WWF business was in the shitter in 1994 and he needed to cut some corners. Vince knew Savage was going to WCW when he said that on Raw. In fact, I do believe they announced Savage was coming to WCW on the next episode of WCW Saturday Night after that Raw. That's how quick it was. It had to have happened way later because Savage was really close to coming back to the WWF in 1996 after his WCW deal expired. The mystery partner spot on Yokozuna's team at Survivor Series '96 was designed for him, but ended up being Jimmy Snuka when they couldn't get Savage back. They still tried to bring him back, but he ended up re-signing with WCW in January 1997. I do remember they had an interview with Randy Savage in the very first edition of Smackdown magazine that came out some point in 2003, although it was mostly about Elizabeth's death. I don't think the Stephanie story is true at all, because considering how little Vince thinks of him, I would think he would have done everything he could have to have Savage prosecuted for it. Not to mention, the timeline of that story is all wrong. And it's clear all these bad feelings Vince has for him haven't been there for a long time, considering the Smackdown magazine interview. Up until then, he had just been asking for too much money to do stuff. Maybe Vince got pissed at him for going to TNA? Who knows.

I remember Chuck Palumbo did an interview right after WCW got sold to Vince and wondered out loud, "I know we weren't doing the ratings we used to do and get killed every week by the WWF, but we're still consistently in the low-to-mid 2s every week. That's still better than 95% of cable." Once Ted Turner lost all control due to the AOL Time Warner merger, they got rid of wrestling. As mentioned, Time Warner wanted wrestling off for a long time but Turner wouldn't let it happen.

Test always came off as hugely camera shy to me. I saw him at non-televised events and he was seriously incredible, showing 100% more personality and getting way more heat as a result. But it seemed when he knew a camera was on him, it all went away.

Yep, I remember that. If I recall correctly, Vince came close to buying the company in October 2000.

The Tampa Tribune reported tonight that "prescription drugs, including painkillers and steroids" were found by authorities in the late Andrew "Test" Martin's apartment in Tampa. http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/article984517.ece

Someone dug up a video of Mickie James on The Jenny Jones Show way back from 2000.

It might help if they mentioned you as "cobainwasmurdered" and not "CWM"

His teeth were knocked out while he was in OVW. WWE thought it would enhance the gimmick, so they asked him not to get them replaced unless it was causing him pain.

Ha. I remember that. The Rock bought everyone Rolex watches, but he gave Faarooq a poster portrait of himself instead.

I thought it was weird that Gene cut everyone off on their promos.

Was the official DVD thread too good for you to post this in?
-
Har har.
-
That explains it. I was confused. I could have swore I typed in "WWF".
-
Who reported that?
-
Yes he was. Who knows where Test's career would have gone had he not broken his nose in late-99 and then re-broke it trying to come back too early.

The Rock turned the corner shortly after Summerslam 1998. He had a match on Raw where he beat Kane clean, despite Undertaker trying to fuck him over. The fans went nuts when he won. That was pretty much the true sign.
