Smackdown Spoilers for show airing on 03/09/07

You're delusional if you think there's even a 0.00001% chance of that happening.

From someone who has no bias either way, that looked like 100% Melina's fault. Why the hell was she gripping the top ropes instead of going with the move?

The alledged Randy Savage ban from WWE.

Randy Savage debuted in WCW in November 1994, a good 7 months after Hulk Hogan debuted in WCW.

It sure looks to me like WWE is dumping the brand-only PPVs. If they're not willing to half the price for the brand-only shows, I'm happy with this I guess. Doesn't matter to me much now since I only order WrestleMania nowadays. Now if they'd just officially dump the brand extension altogether, we'd be in business.

We don't shit on everything just to shit on it. If I remember, that crowd was red hot for Tommy Dreamer & Sandman vs. Test & Mike Knox. But Batista vs. Big Show was not something those fans came to see and if WWE wasn't smart enough to know that, they had no business digging ECW out of the grave. I had a friend of mine who only watches wrestling here and there. He was at my place for One Night Stand 2006 and totally fucking loved it, as did I. He demanded to be over for the first TV show two days later, and he said, "What the fuck? This is nothing like what they did the other day" and never showed any drop of interest in seeing it again. The insight of a non-fan can speak wonders. Face it, the Sci-Fi show was shit from day 1.

complete bullshit If the "old" ECW fans didn't shit on everything from day 1 maybe they wouldn't have done this. If the "new" ECW didn't suck from day 1, maybe we wouldn't have shit on it.

    The Old School questions thread

With WCW still intended to be a seperate promotion, the only major idea I heard for Hunter was for him to be the top star of WCW with everything built around him. I never, ever heard that. All I ever heard at that time was that the new WCW was to be centered around Booker T, Diamond Dallas Page, Buff Bagwell, & Rob Van Dam with Joey Styles & Jerry Lawler as the announce team.

The alledged Randy Savage ban from WWE.

I still never understood why people think Savage & WWE have problems. Savage was interviewed for the first edition of Smackdown magazine back in 2003. Also, WWE tried ridiculously hard to get Savage back in '96 and have him be the mystery partner at Survivor Series that year (which they ended up using Jimmy Snuka for when Savage wouldn't jump). Everything I ever heard was just that WWE never did anything with Savage because he asked for buckets of money to do even the smallest things.

Test is claiming he quit the WWE because he was sick and tired of all the politics that were going on when Paul Heyman got removed as ECW head writer. And it makes sense too. If you look at the wording on WWE.Com when people are fired, it usually says "WWE has released (name) from their contract." When announcing Test's departure, it said "WWE has come to terms on the release of Test."

Are you kidding me? Everyone except Donald Trump (unless he's a bigger fan than I thought) is eating a Stunner. Umaga, Armando, Lashley, & Vince. I'm betting Vince eats another Stunner after the head shaving.

WCW first began to pull away from the NWA in 1991 over the Ric Flair controversy. When WCW stripped Flair of the NWA Title, Flair refused to give the belt back because WCW Executive V.P. Jim Herd refused to return Flair's $25,000 deposit for holding the belt. The NWA still recognized Flair as the champion and refused to recognize Lex Luger as the new champion. Flair then quit WCW, claiming breach of contract when his deposit was not returned, immediately bolted to the WWF and took the NWA Title with him. Flair showed up on WWF television with the title, going after WWF Champion Hulk Hogan and proclaiming himself to be the "Real World's Champion". After a legal injuction filed by the NWA was granted, the belt was censored. Flair quit appearing with it when he won the WWF Title in January 1992. When WCW gave Flair his deposit back to get possession of the belt in summer 1992, the 16-man tournament in Japan was held in fall 1992 for the title that Masa Hiro Chono eventually won by defeating WCW U.S. Champion Rick Rude in the finals. So for about a year, WCW had two world titles. It wasn't until September 1993 that WCW officially severed ties with the NWA after another champion dispute. At Fall Brawl 1993, WCW booked an NWA Title match featuring Flair defending against Rude, with Rude scheduled to win the belt. The NWA board refused to authorize the title change and would not recognize Rude as the champion. That lead to WCW only referring to the title on the show as the "Big Gold Belt". When the pay-per-view opened, commentators Tony Schiavone & Jesse Ventura explained to the viewers that WCW was no longer a member of the NWA. The match went on as planned, and Rude won the "Big Gold Belt" from Flair. It wasn't until Halloween Havoc 1993 for the Flair vs. Rude rematch that the belt was officially renamed to the "WCW International World Title". The two titles were merged together at a Clash of the Champions in May 1994 when WCW Champion Flair defeated WCW International Champion Sting. WCW chose to use the NWA/Big Gold Belt/International Title as their title and retired the new belt they had made for Luger in July 1991.

I think this is lazy booking at it's finest and is going to make the match a complete trainwreck. "Hey we have nothing for all of our upper card guys since we're focus all of our attention on the main event matches of each brand how about we throw them all in a Money in the Bank Match?"... Edge, Booker T, Punk are in with Orton, Kennedy and Jeff Hardy strongly rumored. That leaves two spots one SD! and probably one more ECW. Benoit, MVP or Finlay will likely be the SD! representative with Holly or Snitsky being the ECW rep. Where's the OMG!!Workrate!! match this Wrestlemania? Chavo vs Helms, maybe? I'd laugh if they gave Chavo vs. Helms anymore than 5 minutes.

Why does WWE bother giving people long-winded names when they debut when they know they will be shortened later? William Steven Regal --> William Regal Carlito Caribbean Cool --> Carlito Armando Elejandro Estrada --> Armando Estrada Anymore examples?

    Shawn Michaels

You're trying to tell me that somehow, The Rockers vs. Power & Glory and Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, & The Hurricane vs. Triple H, Ric Flair, & Randy Orton are better matches than the WM10 Ladder Match? Your polls = waste of time.

    Mike Awesome dies

As sick as it is to say, with how wrestlers usually die, it's almost comforting to know that it was suicide instead of more drug-related crap.

    Mike Awesome dies

Mike Awesome's match against Masato Tanaka at One Night Stand 2005 was Awesome's last match. He blew out his knee again during the match and hadn't wrestled a match since. It's a fucking shame he's dead, but what a hell of a match to go out on.

It was reported a week ago that Vince McMahon made the decision to no longer team MNM and The Hardys together and to keep them on their respective brands. That effectively shelved the scheduled Armageddon rematch for the Tag Titles. The Ladder Match featuring Brian Kendrick & Paul London vs. MNM vs. The Hardys vs. William Regal & Dave Taylor was changed to Kendrick & London defending against Smackdown's newest team, Deuce & Domino. Late this week McMahon changed his mind again and will continue to keep teaming them. With this in mind, Chris Benoit & The Hardys vs. M.V.P. & MNM has been added to No Way Out. This brings the official scorecard of non-Smackdown wrestlers on the show up a few notches. Raw wrestlers John Cena & Shawn Michaels are in the main event, the Divas from Raw and ECW will be a part of Teddy Long's Diva Talent Invitational, ECW Champion Bobby Lashley defends his title against Mr. Kennedy, and now, Jeff Hardy and Johnny Nitro from Raw will officially be a part of the show. Also just announced is a Cruiserweight Open, which features recently-moved-to-Raw Scotty 2 Hotty and ECW's Shannon Moore. There is a potential, if you count all the women from Raw and ECW, of seeing 19 non-Smackdown Superstars on No Way Out, a Smackdown PPV.

Serious question here since we've been debating the merits of John Cena's status. I have a feeling Steve Austin wasn't satisfied putting over The Rock in his last match since The Rock bolted permanently for Hollywood a month later, save for WM20, the two Raws before it, and Raws where he put over Eugene in a promo and during DivaSearch '04. I get the feeling Austin has an itch to do one more match to put someone over big. Let's face it. Whethere you love him or hate him, you have to admit that John Cena is easily the biggest star of the after-Attitude era. Given Austin's comments in his book about how he felt he "had" to put The Rock over at WM19, I would be hard-pressed to believe that would be how Austin wants to end his personal legacy in terms of confirming a man's place as a star like Bret Hart did for him. So what would you guys feel about potential John Cena vs. Steve Austin match at a future WrestleMania?
