    TWiB 7/17 - 7/23

Sorry if this brought up already, but big rumor here in Wisconsin right now is that the Brewers are interested in acquiring Bobby Abreu from Philly. I seriously doubt it will happen, but makes for some interesting sports talk.

How do you feel about Iraq?

The US people were in favor because of the evidence the Bush administration presented, which later turned out to be dubious.

    Middle East Tensions Exploding

Yes, I understand that, but the media spins it to "Israel is being unrestrained, and Lebanese people who have nothing to do with this conflict are being killed by Israeli troops yet again."

    Middle East Tensions Exploding

The problem with actually taking out Hezbollah is that inevitably, innocent Lebanese would be killed, and the Western media would portray it as Israelis slaughtering people indiscriminantly, not noting the fact that Hezbollah sets up in civilian neighborhoods.

How do you feel about Iraq?

How dare him blame the US for the war in Iraq! He should blame the U.S.government, not the U.S. itself. This is why it's a futile endeavor trying to argue with lovecraft (or Invader for that matter). Even the simplest concepts can be taken out of context or totally misinterpreted. No, it's a futile effort because you feel you're superior because of your "progressive" thinking.
  6. Won't happen, because Vince's stock is way more valuable than what is on the market. It just makes me think, though. I don't know how large the "IWC" is, but presumably there are tends of thousands of "smarks" on the internet at this point. If so many people truly hate Vince, you'd think we could do something about the way he's running the company that we all watch on a weekly basis.

    Middle East Tensions Exploding

Well, I'm agree it's not a small amount, but taken in context of overall US expenditures, it's still not all that much. I do feel government spending in general needs to be curtailed, but that isn't going to happen under President George W. Bush. Israel, does need to be supported by us, and should be supported by all the other civilized free democracies of the world.
  8. Or let Sandman go all out hardcore and cane Kelly right away, then beat the crap out of Mike Knox and set him on fire. That would be a fitting end to two useless "extremists."

    I miss Chris Benoit!

Do you watch TNA? Not all the wrestling is great, but there's some interesting stuff going on right now. (Senshi as X division champion, Samoa Joe feuding with Steiner, Christian slowly going heel, etc).
  10. Well, the question is...when do we as wrestling fans get completely fed up with this ego maniac and take matters into our own hands?

C-Bacon is a gimmick poster anyway.

Full audio of the new Killers single...

She Wants Revenge totally seem like Joy Division rip offs, except they're just basically two guys. Hell, I think they even used to be a Joy Division cover band. I mean, I love Joy Division, but She Wants Revenge's lyrics are just too copy-catish. Husker Du was awesome, but I don't really know anyone who's in to them. Their music is too harsh for a lot of people.
  13. I'm guessing Edge has moved on, being that he's WWE Champion. If I was Matt Hardy jobbing on Smackdown, I'd be fucking pissed.
  14. OK, does anyone here seriously think that the US didn't land on the moon?
  15. Man, I miss listening to Art Bell at night (I could when I was in college and stuff, but I'm too old to stay up that late now, plus his show isn't on any stations around here I can get easily anymore). I remember when he played the "tape from hell", and finding it really freaky (even though it was later exposed as a fake).
  16. I _hated_ when Bulldog made that return to the WWF. He didn't seem like Davey Boy Smith at all anymore...just some generic British power guy. The jeans look wasn't for him, and they gave him that awful generic music, instead of just having him use "Hail Brittania." Just a really badly booked character that didn't do anything memorable.
  17. The York Foundation were a perfectly good midcard heel stable, but they were never presented as anything more than that, which was probably for the best. Also, their tag matches never seemed that memorable.

    OAO Raw - 7/17

The problem is they were put into main event roles almost immediately upon debuting on RAW, were handed the tag team titles before they were really over, and are basically being used in the "Kane capacity"... "THAT DAMN DX! TONIGHT, IN THAT VERY RING, THEY'RE GOING TO FACE...THE SPIRIT SQUAD!" It's all stuff we saw during the Bischoff era for a couple years on RAW. Yeah, they're good wrestlers, but they're completely interchangeable. They're kind of doing the "Freebird" gimmick with the tag belts, where any two can defend them, but that hasn't been played up at all, or even explained. Plus, they haven't really gone over anyone cleanly, to be presented as a credible threat. (Unlike Kane, who people would actually have reason to be scared of in the ring.) Facing the Spirit Squad seems more like a meaningless chore, than a real punishment. Also...am I the only one who is annoyed that DX hasn't really dealt with the Spirit Squad in a meaningful fashion? I mean, week after week they have to fight them, and they win...but they've never really finished them off. I mean, last night they laid all of them out with chairs and a sledgehammer. At that point, if I were Shawn or Triple H, I'd be thinking, "Let's finish these idiots for good," and proceed to bash their brains in with the sledgehammer I already had in my hands. Just seems like a big logic gap, not that there's anything new there with WWE programming. For the record, I think they all seem like pretty good wrestlers. I just wonder if this gimmick is going to hurt them in the long run. I mean, it might be like "Oh, Johnny Jeter...he's that loser that used to do the cheers and dress in a track suit."
  19. Yeah, it was heavily rumored that Hogan and Nash (among others) told Goldberg he shouldn't work with Jericho, even though Jericho has stated in interviews that he didn't expect to beat or even get offense against Goldberg. I remember him saying that he wanted to help make Goldberg into "more than a one dimensional wrestler." Chris Jericho wanted to help make Bill Goldberg, and they didn't let him. And people wonder why WCW is dead.

    Yep.

    Middle East Tensions Exploding

Exactly. Anyone who's complaining about how much we spend on Israel is probably another "anti-Zionist", anyway.
  22. I'm sure we'll see the advancement of the exciting Mike Knox/Sandman feud as well, during Kelly Kelly's time waster segment.
  23. Dusty Rhodes in WWF was a really weird case. Obviously he was still a big name in parts of the country, but, personally our family didn't have cable in 1990, so I'd never heard of him until he came to WWF. To me, he just looked like some fat middle aged guy, and I just didn't get his appeal at all. But, he still was apparently quite over in parts of the country, so I'm surprised WWF didn't use him in more of a main event role, at least part of the time during his run there. I'm sure Vince just didn't want to push a WCW guy on top, though. You could say basically the same things about Ron Garvin in WWF.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

Just thinking about the Samoan family tree makes my head hurt.

    Most nonsensical debuts

You know, I remember seeing Animal and Chavo Guerrerro team up in a tag match in WCW, and thinking they were a really solid team. I guess I like those big man/high flyer tandems.
