Possible case of human to human spread of Bird Flu
Dobbs 3K replied to RepoMan's topic in Current Events
Well, at least with our tight national security, the chance of someone with bird flu getting into the US is almost nill... Oh, waitaminute... -
"Lex Warrior" That rocks.

I see the point, but it hasn't been factually demonstrated that ECW will be produced as a separate entity from WWE (ownership of the company aside). If it's obvious from the get go on TV that ECW is another "brand" of WWE, then there is no point in having a separate ECW folder. Also, how can you say ECW has better main eventers than TNA when we haven't seen one episode of an ECW TV show?

So, did the guy in that pic burn to death or what?

The Great Debate: Spirit Squad vs. UMAGA
Dobbs 3K replied to King Cucaracha's topic in The WWE Folder
How does Umaga "suck ass"? I think his offense is unique, he doesn't seem to botch any moves, and he works fairly quickly. Certainly there have been _many_ far worse "big men" in WWE than this guy. Yeah, the gimmick is pretty ridiculous for 2006, but so is the concept of five guys doing cheers in a wrestling ring. -
JBL might retire? Damn, that sucks. He's one of my faves to watch on Smackdown.

Latest from Meltzer: "An article in tomorrow's Hollywood Reporter lists ECW starting at 10 p.m. on Tuesdays on 6/13 for a short-term deal on the Sci-Fi Channel. Our information is that the time slot was just confirmed today for 9 p.m. Eastern, and the show will be airing live. On East Coast shoots, Smackdown will be taped from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday before ECW. On West Coast shoots, ECW will be done from 6-7 p.m. and Smackdown from 7-9 p.m." Um, OK, this is getting confusing. From reading what Meltzer says, the show will be airing LIVE at least some of the time???

Bentsen probably would've been a much better campaigner, and was definitely a better public speaker than Dukakis, so yeah, I think he could have beat the Bush the Elder.

If I were a parent (and I'm not), I couldn't see letting any of my kids have a cell phone until they turn 18 (when they're legally an adult), and then I'd make them pay for their own bills. The only exception might be those set ups where you get two phones and they can only call each other. That would fulfill the supposed emergency or after school needs the kid might have.

Yeah, I seem to remember Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell being involved in that...I think it may have actually happened later, like in 1998.

You nailed it.

I'd be really surprised if Lashley was Panamanian. My understanding is that most people there are more Hispanic in their ethnicity (like Carlos Lee of the Milwaukee Brewers) and not black.

Seems like a neat idea. Hopefully the governments they go to actually, you know, distribute them freely.

Someone brought up Hitler...in the original Wolfenstein 3D game for PC (from like '92 or so), Hitler is the final boss. As far as video game villains, I think you have to go with who the most memorable ones are, and I'd say Bowser and M. Bison are definitely up there.

I remember seeing a couple episodes of "That '80s Show" and thinking it was decent. Not great, but no worse than most shows on FOX around that time. It seemed like the show had some decent potential, and I'm kind of surprised FOX killed it so quickly. Frankly, a lot of the early episodes of "That '70s Show" were no better...lots of time specific humor and slang, but thin on plot.
-
Yeah, how'd they get away with that anyway?

I tried to watch one episode of "Minoriteam", but it annoyed me so much I had to turn it off pretty quickly. What the hell is supposed to be even remotely funny in "Tom Goes to the Mayor?" It's just like "here's a couple people talking and saying weird stuff", with a plot that goes nowhere. I'd rather watch old Saved by the Bell eps, than either of those two shows.

The Worst Wrestling Show of All-Time
Dobbs 3K replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in General Wrestling
How was the Nitro Grill anyway? WCW never really hyped it up as much as WWF did with their "WWF New York" restaurant/club. -
He was nicknamed "Mr. Ass" for a while. I actually liked when he was called "The One" Billy Gunn because at least that name didn't have the word "Ass" in it, so you didn't have to be embarassed when he came on TV. "Booger Red" was a stupid nickname for Undertaker, but that was really just a Jim Ross-ism. No one else referred to him as that. "The Big Valbowski" always seemed pretty lame to me. I don't like some of TNA's current ones, like "The Playa from the Himalaya", especially. Also, I don't think "The Samoan Bulldozer" quite works for Umaga.

I think Adam Bomb was leaving WWF already, wasn't he? I think they also were gearing up for doing an Earthquake/Yokozuna feud, so they probably wanted Tenta to look strong.

The Great Debate: Spirit Squad vs. UMAGA
Dobbs 3K replied to King Cucaracha's topic in The WWE Folder
I think Umaga has been entertaining in his matches so far (even if they are just squashes). He has a unique offense, which is a nice break from the usual vanilla WWE wrestling we almost always see on RAW. I also think Estrada is doing a very good job as a manager, and it's nice to see a male manager who is a good talker again. As far as the Spirit Squad, I admit I don't hate them as completely as I did when they first debuted. To me, they seemed like a bad rip off of those Will Farrell SNL skits. My main problem with the Spirit Squad is that they're in the main event slot on RAW almost week after week, and they really aren't over enough to justify that. Hell, they haven't come close to earning it. I don't mind them holding the tag belts, but the belts seem more like a prop for them at this point, since they haven't had any serious title defenses or anything as of yet. Also, I don't see the justification for them being Mr. McMahon's underlings, since they seem like the kind of people Vince would hate (on camera, I mean). They've even already done the "Spirit Squad is running this week's show" angle they love to do with every main event level heel, which was way too soon for these guys. That said, they do seem like good wrestlers, and I hope Kenny (Doane) gets to break away soon and maybe do a face turn, since he seems to have a huge amount of potential. -
I remember that. That was pretty weird.
-
I don't like them, but I think Pearl Jam might be up there.

Again, I'll go back to the story of my wife, who is in university grad school, and she had this night class where literally someone's phone would go off almost every class period. This is in college...I gotta imagine it's pretty bad with high school kids.
