OMG! KI~! VS JOE~! VS AJ~! VS FALLEN ANGEL~!!! Why doesn't this company just sign everyone who's ever worked ROH and be done with it?
-
That's so stupid. Joey Styles is paid to announce and put over the product of the company he's working for. How come he got a free pass from people like Rudo when he was announcing for ECW, but when he goes to work for WWE, he suddenly becomes a whore? I think people put a little too much stock into the legend of ECW, and how everyone there was doing it because they loved the company so much. They were doing it to make a living, just like anyone in WCW or WWF. Yeah, some of them stuck around because they were loyal, but they still had jobs to do. From what I've read, yeah, Styles was making good money in sales or whatever before signing with WWE, which means they probably offered him a very good deal. Not too hard to figure out.
-
Yeah, I agree with it. Taping it before RAW and/or Smackdown would just equal a WWE-ized "ECW-brand" show, with none of the original feel of ECW.

The thing with Bret/Owen is that it wasn't a traditional opening bout, which would usually be two lower card guys going at it to get the crowd hot for the rest of the show. That match was a main event level match at that point, but was run first due to the "mini-tournament" format of the show, since Bret was going to be wrestling again later that night. It's kind of an unfair pick.

It's a shame most of us are too young to remember, because Gordon Solie surely should have been brought up somewhere by now.
-
Yeah, but where would they actually be showing the TV show? They don't have any "Heat" type shows they could replace on TV anymore? Maybe it will be an internet only thing?
-
What's even more funny about SBTB, is that the plots seem like they'd fit almost perfectly on an episode of "the Brak Show" or "Aqua Teen Hunger Force."
-
I don't think he's saying "fuck" there, but it's pretty hard to hear what he's actually saying due to the laugh track. But yeah, I loved watching this show after school as a kid...I was right in Nintendo's target demo and ate up anything Mario related at the time. This series was definitely superior to the later one based on Super Mario World. The Zelda cartoon rocked...the only crappy thing was there was a pretty slim number of episodes of it, so it seemed like you'd see the same ones over and over. The animation was better than the Mario cartoon, it seemed like.

Movies that everyone loves that you cannot get the love for

I really need to see at least the original "Night of the Living Dead." -

Sorry for the double post...Firefox sometimes likes to time out on me after I click "submit." "Yeah, and it rocked, IIRC." -

I don't know...I used to have about a 25 minute commute to work each way with my old job...I didn't mind so much in the mornings, 'cause it gave me time to drink some coffee, get focused, etc. However, in the evenings, after a long day, I just wanted to get home, and driving home at night (like if I had to close the store at 9 PM), especially during winter, isn't such fun. -
Where the hell in Wisconsin do you live?? I'm in MN, but I always thought things were fairly comparable between the two states. There are som dollar theaters around here you could pull that off at, but you could pretty much rent any movies they get by the time they get them. If you want to see anything current, it's gonna cost you at least 6 bucks a ticket for a matinee. There's a reason I only saw like 3 movies in the theaters last year. Well, I live in Whitewater, which is between Madison and Milwaukee (and slightly to the south). We actually went to the movies last night in Janesville at the larger multiplex, and it was 16 bucks for two tickets (we didn't get any refreshments since we had just eaten at Red Robin, which is pricey enough, 30 bucks for dinner for two with tip)...but this was on a Friday evening, which is the most expensive time to go to that theater, AFAIK. Getting back to the topic, someone else mentioned how many people live up to or beyond their means. You know...people that basically spend all their money on eating out, entertainment, buying stuff they don't need, and then after bills are paid they have nothing left in savings. Most people these days don't know how to budget their income and living expenses, which is too bad. Also, they don't have any investments, etc....which is going to make it pretty hard to retire before they're 70 or so.

Yeah, my commute is only about 15 minutes right now, but soon to be more like five minutes when we move next month. Of course, that's just my drive to the office...I have a sales job, so I'm on the road quite a bit during the day. At least work pays for most of my gas expenses. -
You'd have to do it as, like, at least a three disc set. Maybe something like this: Disc 1: Best of '85 - '89 Disc 2: Best of '90 - '95 Disc 3: Best of '96 - '01 This would cover from roughly the start of WCW (from after GCW and Mid-Atlantic) to the purchase by Vince McMahon.

I don't know. I can see this story both ways. On the one hand, maybe the mother is just over-reacting. Also, how do you get a fever from being hit on the chest? On the other hand, it's not like it's unbelievable that a group of pro-wrestlers would take some "liberties" with a trainee, either. I mean, how often do we hear stories about new wrestlers getting harassed in WWE?

When was the last time Cannon was even on TV? I honestly don't remember.
-
That press release is obviously a joke. I think it's pretty funny. I watched one of the SBTB eps earlier this week, and down in the corner of the screen it said something like [crappy '80s live action TV show swim].

It's not like the Tribune have been great owners of the Cubs though...they basically make them good enough so that people in Chicago stay interested, and keep flocking to Wrigley. They don't have the mentality of wanting to win a World Championship.

Dobbs 3K replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in Current Events
Oh, OK...3.5 hours one way is a little more believable (though still too damn long as far as I'm concerned). It seemed like they were saying his one way trip was 7 hours, probably to sensationalize it a bit more. But yeah...I know unleaded regular gas in some parts of California is up to four bucks a gallon...who the hell would want to spend that much driving to work in one day? -
Well, this film will go over huge at a liberal college like UW-Madison. Oh, and that has to be one of the most biased "articles" I've read in a long time. Whoever wrote that should probably work for Rolling Stone, they'd fit right in.

Dobbs 3K replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in Current Events
I'm guessing he doesn't work a full shift every day, because: 7 hours X twice a day + 8 hour work day = 22 hours a day So, does he only sleep two hours a day or what? In retrospect, that article was really short on details. I assume he's making a ton of money to justify that drive, and I doubt he works a full five days a week. Maybe he only goes in two or three times a week, and works out of his home the rest of the week, or something. -

Double post...deleted this one. -
I hate how none of TNA's themes have any vocals, so basically none of them are memorable at all. Jeff Jarrett's is the only one where I know who is coming out right away...oh, and Chris Sabin's because of the "Hail Sabin!" thing at the beginning. Team Canada's theme is recognizable, even though it sucks ("Oh Canada" is a fine tune, but the recording of it that they use is annoying).

Controversy: A word that gets thrown around all too much in pro-wrestling circles, especially when there is none.

What people don't understand, is that the minimum wage wasn't designed to provide jobs where someone could be self-sustaining and provide for their family. It's designed to guarantee a basic level of pay for all jobs, primarily part time jobs and jobs for people still in school, etc. Basically the whole argument that the minimum wage needs to go up so people can support themselves with it is bogus. Oh, and btw, paying $15 to go skating is nuts. Here in Wisconsin, two people can go to a movie for about that (and that includes popcorn and soda at smaller theaters).
