I guess I can agree with that. Clearly, certain wrestlers are going to be more appealing in different parts of the US than others. And of course, Canadian wrestlers are always way over north of the border, for obvious reasons. I don't think that means certain cities are more "pro-heel" than others, as has been stated elsewhere. I also think it's evident that WWE really hasn't kept up with the times as much as they say they have. They claim that the fans decide who gets cheered and booed, and the whole "shades of grey" thing, but sometimes they still book feuds and angles like this is 1985.
-
I don't buy that different cities are more biased for or against face wrestlers, etc. I think it has more to do with how often WWE runs in that particular city. I think the reason the Long Island crowds suck is because WWE used to run there like, once a month at least. They get bored, so they sit on their hands or turn against certain wrestlers.

Yes, I have seen one bear in the wild (it was a very young one in a trap). My in-laws had about 19 bears either trapped or shot on their property a couple years ago (they live in Northern Wisconsin). I've never seen bear bones, but I could if I wanted to, as my wife's uncle shot a large adult bear last year, and I believe he still has part of the carcass. Can't say the same for Bigfoot. Yes, the Pacific Northwest is very dense, but probably hundreds of people have gone there over the last 50 years or so looking for any sign of a Sasquatch or similar creature, and no conclusive evidence has been found. Of course, this is just the old "make me prove a negative" argument. No, I can't prove that there _isn't_ a Bigfoot. I can't prove that there aren't magical woodland fairies either, because they could be invisible or very small.

Don't you mean SMARTBALL~!? This is going on everywhere, it's the new sexy because of the White Sox and because steroids are no longer being used by anyone (hehe) that homeruns are suddenly going to stop being hit so everyone has to resort to manufacturing runs. Actually I flipped on the Padres/Rockies game very briefly and the Rockies announcer essentially said the above about homeruns, this coming after an 11 run first inning. I felt my brain leak out of my ear a little after this. No "smallball" is a term that's been around for years. It means a general game strategy of not relying on home runs and slugging. "Smallball" would include things like the bunt & run, sacrifice flies and grounders, base stealing, etc. Instead of hammering base runners in with power, you're using speed and contact hitting to move the base runners, if that makes sense. ... Uh, yeah, that's what he's talking about. He said "smartball," because that's what that genius Ozzie Guillen calls it. We know there's more than one way to win a baseball game. I don't see why so many suddenly think every team in the bigs should be laying down bunts, stealing bases, and all that. Some teams just aren't built like that. It's foolish to try and force your team to be something they aren't. I complain that the Cubs are too impatient and don't score enough with RISP and less than two outs. But that doesn't mean I want to see Aramis Ramirez laying down a bunt to get Derrek Lee over to third. Square peg, round hole and all that. OK, I didn't realize that was Ozzie's term for it. I think one thing as a fan I get frustrated with...is in a situation where the team needs a run and there's a runner on third with less than two outs...even if the player is a Derrek Lee or Aramis Ramirez, they don't have to be a hero and swing for the fences. Just put the ball in play and get that guy home. Converting RISP to actual runs is what separates winners from losers, obviously.

Yeah, you're probably right. Now that I remember, didn't he use it on Diesel at least once, maybe in '95 or early '96?
-
It feels like he's still around, since WWE has canonized him as "St. Eduardo Guerrerro of the Blessed Virgin, Patron Saint of Hispanic Sports Entertainers."

Something makes me think that management won't want 19 of their 81 home dates playing in front of an empty stadium when out of towners all but guarantee sell outs. Baltimore is a nice town and you guys have a well above average stadium, so take it as a compliment that so many people are willing to travel. Miller Park has the same problem when the Cubs and Cards come to town, since both teams have huge regional fan bases, and a lot of fans make the (relatively) short trip to Milwaukee to cheer their teams. Yeah, it might suck that 50% of the crowd is made up of fans cheering the away team, but if their money helps to sign a key player to an extension or acquire a free agent, I couldn't care less.

Well, there were the FIVE MOVES OF DOOM: - Vertical Suplex - Russian Legsweep - Backbreaker - Elbow Drop from Second Rope - Finally, the Sharpshooter (not necessarily always in that order, but usually close to it). He also used the cornerpost figure four later in his career (I believe exclusively in WCW). Other moves he'd bust out would be the hanging clothesline, dropkick, DDT, hip toss, bodyslam, etc.

Good enough that they are finally getting some recognition from ESPN, which is nice. Danny Kolb gets the win, which ends Turnbow's save streak at 4-0, but that's OK. Prince Fielder also homered and had three hits, so it looks like his early season offensive struggles are over for the most part. I will be at Miller Park tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing if the Brewers can complete another sweep.

I could see a Lashley/Benoit semi-final where Lashley pulls an upset. Either that, or the Lashley/Finlay feud continues with Finlay costing Lashley the match against Benoit. That would probably make more sense, as they could then do Lashley/Finlay at the PPV in a grudge match of some kind.
-
I don't know... I don't think that bracket is so bad. There are plenty of good workers represented. Lashley/Henry will probably be a stinker, but other than that the matches should be pretty decent, IMO. Btw, are all these matches going to take place on one PPV, or just the finals? Nevermind...I checked the Smackdown results and noticed the matches start next week.

A couple days ago a virus popped up on my computer. I believe I've eliminated most of it. However, I get green links popping up all over text in IE. Any ideas how to find/fix this problem? Norton doesn't seem to be helping. Also, Windows Firewall got turned off by something and I can't access it again. I've since downloaded and installed another firewall program, but it's annoying that something is blocking access to a vital program.
-
You'd think by now they would've decided to mix up the American Idol panel a bit. Paula generally adds nothing from the episodes I've seen.
-
The only problem is, I don't know how well Benoit could play the mentor/leader role on TV. He comes off more as a loner type than anything. Maybe they could do an angle where he gets more and more tough on his "trainees", slapping them around if they lose matches, etc. Finally he snaps and puts one of them in the crossface after they lose a title shot, turning heel against them. Problem is, the crowd might cheer him if he did something like that.
-
Well, somehow I got Windows Firewall back on (still using ZoneAlarm, though). I found a way around the link problem in IE...use Firefox. Much less prone to viruses and such, apparently. IE is still messed up though...I get popups almost right away if I boot it up.

Chris Benoit & Harry Smith: British Bulldogs 2.0...or maybe the Commonwealth Bulldogs at least. I hope Harry Smith doesn't get squashed on his first TV appearance like Ray Gordy did against the Boogeyman. I'm guessing he'll get a good push, since Vince seems to like 2nd and 3rd generation guys (Orton, etc).

I think it's pretty much been proven that WWE can't just take two midcarders and make them into a tag team. If you take two guys like Viscera and Val Venis and slap them together, no one is really going to care. The example of the New Age Outlaws was brought up, but that was different. They didn't just come out one week and start wrestling as a team. There was actually an angle and buildup to them. Plus, they were booked strongly, winning the tag belts from the LOD pretty quickly. WWE never books current "thrown together" teams well. They go out, win one or two matches on RAW, and then disappear to Heat or whatever, then come back to RAW and job a couple times before the team is forgotten or breaks up. The key is to bring in teams and present them as a contending tag team right away. Make them unique and give them an angle or gimmick. This is why MNM has outshined the entire rest of the tag team division. They came in and were presented as a tag team with a unique (but not stupid) gimmick right away (Hollywood "hipster" types). They had a manager (something most tag teams used to have...) who could talk. They use double team moves and have a unique finisher. How many other teams have gotten similar treatment?

Brewers are 4-0, after at 3-1 victory over the D-Backs last night at Miller Park. Starting pitcher Dave Bush, acquired in the Overbay trade with Toronto, looked very good. Derrick Turnbow now has four saves. Go Milwaukee!

There is no Bigfoot. At least in North America. With all the yahoos out looking for him, at least a skeleton or some fur would've turned up by now. All they've ever come up with are blurry photos and disproven video footage. I could buy that there's a "Yeti" type creature in Asia, since the idea of a mountain gorilla thing that lives in a remote area is at least believable. But there doesn't seem to be any conclusive evidence that there could be a sustainable population of "Sasquatch" in any part of the US.

Well, I just got back from Miller Park, and I got to see the Brewers finish sweeping the Pirates tonight, which was fun. Prince Fielder finally got his first hit of the season, and Derrick Turnbow gets save #3 of the season. I had a brat (with secret stadium sauce), a few nachos, and two MGDs, so I'm a happy man tonight. As of 11:37 PM CST tonight, the Brewers have the best record in Major League Baseball (3-0).

Who's established nowadays?
Dobbs 3K replied to rising up out of the back seat-nuh's topic in No Holds Barred
I'm established as the pro-Milwaukee Brewers "Yeah, and it rocked, IIRC" and "anti-Muslim barbarian terrorist" guy. . . . . And I love it!
