Calling him "Jericho" could make sense if the "save_us" promos really are tied to him, and he comes in with some sort of pseudo-messiah type gimmick. "I, JERICHO, will save the WWE from the evils of Triple H! Join me in my crusade!" or something like that. Otherwise, I doubt hearing him called "Chris Jericho" is instantly going to remind people about Chris Benoit killing his wife and son. As far as Batista, I always thought calling him "David Batista" would have sounded better. "Dave Batista" is kind of lame sounding.

Where were these "Gabe ECW ideas" actually reported? The RoH message board?

He got injured. I think he had a bad back before even becomign Waylon Mercy and it was only a matter of time. I seem to recall he was injured in a match with Kevin Nash.. Not sure about that. It's possible, but I'm pretty sure Spivey had some pre-existing injury when he came to WWF, and they were hoping he could just work through it. His character didn't really call for him to be a high impact type of worker.

One thing I was thinking about the other day...I remember an episode of RAW, probably in '97, where I believe Davey Boy and Owen were wrestling the Headbangers. After the match, Jim Cornette came out and introduced his new team...the Headhunters (though he didn't name them). They attacked and laid out the Headbangers. The next week, the event wasn't mentioned and completely forgotten. What happened here?

But that's not going to happen. TNA is more incompetent in many ways than WWE is. Those holding out hope for TNA to be the saviors of wrestling are deluding themselves.

Were you high when you typed this?

Even if WCW had stayed around, I don't think they would have been serious competition to WWF like they were in the mid to late '90s. A lot of crap was happening with the main eventers in WCW...I bet a lot of them like Hogan and Goldberg would have ended up leaving, because any new entity buying WCW wouldn't have been able to afford them. Maybe a few like Sting or Flair would have stayed out of loyalty, but I kind of doubt it, since Sting seemed to be considering retirement and Flair was clearly burned out (read his book). They probably would have had to cut a lot of production costs, and maybe position themselves as a more mainstream ECW-like alternative, with a lot of young guys as the focal point. Also, they would have had to find a new TV outlet, presumably.

I don't know. Guys can get confused and burned out pretty easily on a touring schedule like that. I know a guy who was an enhancement talent for WWF in the late '80s, when the schedule was way worse (three different tours, two shows a night, etc). He told me a story about being in a hotel one time, going down to the front desk, and asking the attendant "Where am I?" The person said "The Hyatt (or whatever)", and he said "No, I mean, what city am I in?"

People are right that WWE is boring right now, and they need a big storyline to kick things into gear. What I meant by RAW being the same as '98, is that you still have the evil authority figure, and a babyface hero forced to "overcome the odds" (Cena, now Triple H). It's basically just recycling the same plots as before. The whole feel of RAW is really stale, too. I wish they'd ditch the red and black color scheme and go with something new, or at least do a complete set redesign, not just little tweaks like adding a new screen or adjusting the incline of the entrance ramp, etc. Also, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler should be broken up or shown the door (and I know a lot of people don't like to hear that, but I feel it's true). Anyway, yeah, RAW isn't going anywhere other than USA, but USA has a right to want them to put on a better product, too.

I don't see why there's any confusion or interest anymore...Shawn Michaels admitted on TV a few years ago that he was in on the screwjob all along.

Giuliani was popular after 9-11. Other than that, opinions on him were very mixed, like someone else stated here.

Well, like I said, I don't think it's needed. I think everyone should have a DL or some form of government ID, not necessarily some national ID card. Basically the whole ploy with people not wanting states to require IDs when voting, is that they want to allow illegal aliens to vote, who most certainly would vote for the Democrats.

People actually want Vince Russo back with WWE, now? Why? Has he done such a great job in TNA? As far as the TBS/TNT suggestions, we need to get out of the Monday Night Wars mentality as wrestling fans, like I've said before. This isn't 1998. WWE should take that to heart as well, and completely overhaul their product, especially Monday Night RAW, which is just beyond stale. I think that's the main problem with WWE...it's basically the same show it's been for the last 9 or 10 years.

Yeah, really. Illuminati-Freemasons-skull&bones-latestbestsellerplot for real. "don't taze me, bro" guy was right, and the government got him!

Today marks 10 years of Kane and Hell In The Cell
Dobbs 3K replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
Yeah, but even though a lot of his storylines have been pretty terrible (the Katie Vick storyline, his feud with Shane McMahon, getting used as Bischoff's perennial cliche enforcer) he's always been booked as very dominant, and often unbeatable. It's hard not to stay fairly over with that kind of character, coupled with him being a solid big man worker, at least in terms of WWE. -
Can we drop this yet? Why single me out for saying it when several others made the same comment? You were the last one, that's all. Nothing personal. Like I just suggested in the chat, I wish WWE would just have a team of masked generic jobbers for crap like this. They could just over sell everything to at least make it entertaining.

Yeah, I've gotten good deals on music stuff before on eBay. Not _that_ good, but pretty good.

Really, a street fight just implies two guys fighting with no referee. There shouldn't even be a pinfall...just one guy walks away, and one doesn't.
-
Is there much difference between Falls Count Anywhere and a Street Fight, other than in a street fight, you can only be pinned in the ring, I guess?

Dobbs 3K replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
The sad thing is, that I don't think there's much point to Kane being in WWE anymore. He's done basically everything he can, aside from an extended World Title reign, which probably won't happen. I wonder how close Glen Jacobs is to retirement at this point, anyway. -

To be fair, on that RAW, I think they billed it as a sort of "Hell in the Cell preview", rather than an actual match. Kind of tricky, but I don't think they ever said it would be an actual in-ring contest. -
Chris Jericho "Role Model" WCW Theme
Dobbs 3K replied to hbkhhhmark4life's topic in General Wrestling
You know, for some reason I always liked Jericho's first theme in WCW, when he was a fairly generic babyface...the one with the saxophone in it. -
They were a streaky team all year and had a bad streak in October. That's not ironic at all. It sucks, but it's not ironic. Again, you're a fucking idiot. The Brewers were still worse than the Cubs, and this changes nothing. If to you, this somehow mitigates finishing in second place, okay, hang on to that losers' mentality, but I still think you're a fucking idiot. I didn't really get any enjoyment out of the Astros being swept in 2005, or the Cardinals in 2004. The Cubs still sucked those years. There's nothing for me to derive from other divisional teams' failures. Again, that's because I'm not a fucking idiot like you are. Yeah, if your best argument is "you're a fucking idiot", you must be making great points. Although I found your last sentence to be ironic. I love how every Cubs fan/atheist/left winger/whatever always resorts to name calling with me on this board. You don't see me calling people "fucking retards" or whatever. A message board would be pretty damn boring if we all sat around making agreeable statements all the time. I mean, I'm sure even you would be bored if this thread was just a big Cubs fan circle jerk. Anyway... Perhaps irony was a poor choice to use. That said, it doesn't change that I am most pleased about the outcome of this NLDS. You bring up the Brewers...yes the Brewers finished with a worse regular season record than the Cubs, but they also won the same amount of post-season games as them, so it doesn't really matter too much at this point.
