If the D-Backs make the World Series, I wonder if we get any more of Eric Byrnes' wacky antics on FOX.

(Put this in the discussion thread, but thought this should have it's own topic) Question: Is 2007 going to go down as the most disastrous year in WWE history? Look at everything that has happened this year: - Chris Benoit kills himself after murdering his wife and son. Huge media coverage ensues. - Drugs scandals become public, and WWE is repeatedly mentioned in a negative light in the media (more so than usual). The Wellness Policy is publicly derided as a joke. - The "Who Killed Vince?" storyline is abruptly aborted, due to the Benoit tragedy. - The current "Who is Vince's bastard son?" storyline has a lousy joke payoff (of course, this could change). - Booker T quits. Ric Flair supposedly threatens to quit. - RVD apparently leaves the company, leaving ECW without their top face. - Marcus Cor Von drops off the face of the planet, while being lined up for a push in ECW. - Pretty much every SNME has had bad ratings, and bad reviews. WWE has basically no mainstream exposure at this point. Ratings for other shows, notably RAW, get to their lowest point in years. - A ton of people are fired, or quit, including a good portion of the ECW roster. Some even while in midst of pushes (Cryme Tyme). - Everyone who wins the World Heavyweight Title ends up injured (Undertaker, Edge). Kennedy also gets injured after being the heir apparent to the title. - Bobby Lashley gets injured in the middle of a huge push. Rey Misterio is out for a good portion of the year with an injury, and is mentioned in the drug scandal. - Triple H gone for much of the year due to injury. - Brian Adams dies and is linked to WWE in the media. - Something like a dozen people are suspended for drug issues. I'm probably forgetting a bunch of stuff, but wow, is that a lot of junk that has happened this year, and it's only September. There were some positives, especially at the beginning of the year. You could argue that the Donald Trump angle was a big thing for WWE, but other than that, it seems like a pretty rough year. Sure, they're still making money, but this company seems like it has some serious issues to come to grips with. However, with no company giving them a serious run for their money (maybe if TNA ever gets their act together), it doesn't seem like there will be another "boom period" anytime soon.

Yeah, back in the good old days, say the 1950s, another citizen would have stood up and either punched him or wrestled him to the ground, rather than wait for the cops. People used to not tolerate idiots acting like complete douchebags in front of an elected official.

Yep. Just goes to show what a mess this is...companies make a boatload of money, do a bad job, and make even more money, without any repercussions for their failures. This stuff is why the Bush administration needs to be punished for how they've conducted the war. It's just flagrant how this is basically just a big money grab.

Watched this tonight for lack of anything else catching my attention. It wasn't horrible like I was expecting. Some of the jokes actually made me laugh a bit. Overall, I'd say it was pretty average for a sitcom.

Yep, that's why the White Sox almost relocated to Milwaukee in the late '60s. They even played a few games at County Stadium, and it basically saved them financially. Oh, and Czech, you have to explain it since you were the one harping on the Rockies, basically inferring that they shouldn't be in the playoffs because their fans have been fickle.

I don't see why we need a replacement for drivers licenses. I also don't see why you shouldn't have to show a photo ID in order to vote.

Just heard on the radio today that MLB's season attendance was just under 80 million fans, setting a new record. Oh, I'm sure all those fans are only in New York, LA, and Chicago, so only those teams should be in the playoffs, right? This is a great time for baseball right now.

Yeah, like make a scene at a speech by a US senator, when protesters have gotten dragged out of Congressional hearings.

The best part was where they put him in prison, and then surgically removed his organs for sale to foreign purchasers before they let him die. Oh, well, I thought we were talking about China from some of the reactions here.

Well, he makes more sense than most of the candidates out there. *drum roll*

Maybe the UN could do something about Myanmar's situation, like with Darfur. Oh, wait...
-
I thought Vince said a while ago he wouldn't be wrestling anymore. F'ing liar.
-
Funny how JR is wondering how Triple H will stop Umaga, since he just murdered him about three weeks ago.
-
Well, it's worked with Cuba. Oh, wait... Myanmar is a messed up country. Maybe the UN or someone in that part of the world could step in and actually do something about it? Life is cheap in countries like China and India, so I doubt they really care, though.

Though I kind of like Pierzynski, all these re-signings by the White Sox seem to be the opposite of what they should be trying to do right now. They need to re-build, to a point, but it seems like they just want to hold all their current cards and stand pat.

After Triple H basically murdered Umaga on RAW a couple weeks back, would the marks even buy into Umaga as a threat to the Dead Man? I know they'd probably have him come out and lay out 'Taker, while Cole screams "No one has ever man-handled the Undertaker like this!", but would anyone really care anymore? You could say the same in reverse about Henry going to RAW.

Not to take anything from Tazz, but I bet RVD would be able to beat him up pretty well in a legit shoot.

I think the Brewers are just trying to re-live that magic 2005 season, and see if they can secure a winning record in their final two games of the season. Good job coming out on top, Cubs.

I don't know, maybe he was going for the David Duke vote.

Like I've said before, the only thing that seems like it could create change in the direction this country is headed is a wave of assassinations, sad to say.
-
It's definitely gotten a lot better the last few years, in terms of competitive parity. Some of those bottom teams need to get rid of their crappy owners (something the Brewers did and now they're in the middle of the pack in terms of spending). Nationals can be excused somewhat since they're basically in an expansion franchise situation.

I know this isn't "correct baseball" but I would've brought in Cordero in the eighth once Turnbow loaded the bases. It was clear he was useless. I don't know if the decision to leave him in was Sveum or Yost's, but it was stupid. Turnbow didn't have it, even though he did get one out. Of course, it didn't help that the offense left like 10 or so guys stranded on base last night.

I hate to say it, but from the little I saw, Hillary made some decent points about illegal immigration and law enforcement, even if I don't agree 100%.

Yeah, the legislature has been about as "do nothing" as it can get, that is true.
