Well, I keep worrying about the Brewers handing the Cubs the Central, but it's looking like the Cards are the ones to worry about. It's disheartening to cheer this team...Braun and Fielder both homered in the first inning, and they lose 4-12. Chris Capuano does not belong in the starting rotation right now...the Brewers are 0-15 in his last 15 starts. I worried about this team relying too much on the youngsters before the season started (at least on offense...they really need a veteran elite bat in their lineup), and I think those worries were accurate.

None of this debate really answers the question of why we can't have a secure border. We can have a safe border, and a process for allowing workers to temporarily enter the country, without the complete anarchy of illegal immigration.

The agenda to tell people that 29 (or whatever) guys he has wrestled against have died, and that's not counting other people he worked with but didn't wrestle. It's a pretty shocking statistic, either way. It's not about pointing fingers at any one person, but accepting the fact that this is a problem. I mean, can you imagine if someone like Roger Clemens had played with 29 other players who died in baseball? It would be a big deal...but people on the other hand just accept that wrestlers live risky lives, and if they die, what does it matter?

Vince McMahon.

So, will they stick with Kennedy as Vince's illegitimate son? Obviously the crowd was already in on it last night, and they nodded to it with Vince staring down Kennedy at the end of that first segment last night. Just wondering if they stick with that, or maybe this is a swerve and it will end up being someone else.

I don't know...but I was really liking Regal's in-ring work on Smackdown, so I hope he still wrestles occasionally. -
I can see it both ways, regarding the DH. On one hand, I do think it is a little silly to have pitchers hitting, when they clearly don't have the discipline or training to do it properly anymore, because their arms are so valuable to their teams. I mean, yeah, you have the odd talented hitter like Carlos Zambrano, but most NL pitchers can't hit for crap. On the other, I do appreciate the added strategy that the lack of a DH requires in the NL. The NL managers have to work a little harder than the AL ones in those situations, I think.

It's pretty shocking and sad to see how many heart attacks are on that list.

I do agree that I'm surprised they didn't do more with his face run in WWF. He had a good look, and seemed pretty popular and over at the time. He almost won the IC Title, IIRC, but they opted to keep it on Shawn Michaels I guess.

I think I'll believe it when they're actually out on the road doing shows. I can't believe Eddie's son is the bassist now. Michael Anthony was the man.

Yeah...Brian Adams did play quite a few characters, or variations on the same character. First he was Demolition Crush, then Kona Crush (which was weird because they didn't really acknowledge that he'd been in Demolition, even though it was obviously the same person), then evil ninja Crush, then ex-convict Crush, then DOA Crush (kind of the same as the convict gimmick). And then you can go into all his characters and gimmicks in WCW.

I almost hope they try. There'd be riots in the streets, and government officials would be getting death threats. Maybe that would finally bring our troops home.

Like I said in the other thread, I think it's sad to hear. I always liked him, for some reason. He'd be a guy that wouldn't really do a lot in the ring, but would then bust out some weird move like an indian deathlock or something. Plus I marked out for the head vice and heart punch finishers he used in WWF. Does WWE ever stop to think maybe people aren't watching as much because they're sick of their heroes passing away so young, or the fact that the guy they're cheering today might be dead tomorrow?
-
That is too bad about Crush, as I always kind of liked him, even when he was in WCW as a generic nWo tough. As far as Sylvan Grenier, I think La Resistance was fine as a heel tag team, but they had nothing for them once they were broken up. Heck, they even tried doing a reunion of them in ECW, and that went nowhere. WWE doesn't really need any more pretty boy heels at this point, so I can't say I miss any of the three.

I think a lot of teams are going to be in rebuild mode after this season. LaRussa will not be the Cardinals' manager next season either.

I do agree that we have to accept we are in a global economy. Like I said earlier in this thread, that old mill or factory in a town isn't' going to sustain the local economy forever. Communities have to diversify or whither. Some jobs are going to move overseas as the US moves to more of an information/service economy instead of the traditional agricultural/industrial economy.

"Legends Defeated - as legend killer, Orton has "killed" the legends of singles wrestlers and tag teams alike: The Fabulous Moolah Shawn Michaels - Unforgiven 2003 Stone Cold Steve Austin - Survivor Series 2003 Sgt. Slaughter Rock 'n' Sock Connection (Mick Foley and The Rock'- WrestleMania XX) Cactus Jack (Mick Foley) - Backlash 2004 Chris Benoit - Summerslam 2004 Ric Flair - Taboo Tuesday 2004 Jake "The Snake" Roberts Jerry "The King" Lawler D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) Rob Van Dam - One Night Stand 2007 Dusty Rhodes" That list is from wikipedia...so it is likely incomplete or partly incorrect. Of course, some of those are arguable, too.

The Team 3D funeral was really good. Too bad they couldn't do more (good) segments like that. It seemed like in that one they just kind of let the heels do their thing, rather than really scripting things out. I could be mistaken, though.

I do agree that the increase in green card fees may be excessive. If the real costs of the processing, background checks, etc...do necessitate the increase, then so be it. If it's just the government shoring up losses in other areas, or a short sighted attempt to keep people out, then it should probably be re-evaluated.

I don't think the plan was ever for Furnas and Lafon to become full members of the Hart Foundation. They were basically booked as associates of them to do the Canada vs USA thing at Survivor Series. Kind of silly, since only one member of that team was actually Canadian. It's too bad WWF didn't do more with that tag team...they really were ahead of most other tag teams in the US at the time.

I don't understand why border security and economic interests have to be mutually exclusive, as some seem to be saying. Stuff like that article I posted regarding San Francisco is just totally insane, though. Aren't our politicians supposed to be looking out for American interests, and not doing what's best for the nation of Mexico? It wouldn't surprise me if some of these people were being paid off by the Mexican government through the drug cartels, frankly.

Brock Lesnar would make me watch TNA again.

Glad to see the Brewers won't the only team the Rockies decided to punish with a blowout win this week. And how about Rick Ankiel, eh?
-
I thought this was hilarious: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/staticarticle...ticle57096.html What kind of dementia affects the politicians in San Francisco, I have no idea.

You're right about that being an impressive list of wrestlers...but the thing about the Heenan Family was that it was basically Heenan managing these guys individually. Sure, they teamed up once in a while for the Survivor Series and stuff like that, but how often did they actually work together as a group? I remember Barbarian and Haku (I think) helping Mr. Perfect against the Big Boss Man, but that's about the only instance I can think of right now.
