How do you feel about Iraq?

Chris Matthews was trying to get Howard Dean to say the US needed an immediate withdrawal, and that by not doing so he was kind of betraying his position that the war was a mistake. Matthews really needs to read the first post of this thread.

Santorum is conceding, and wants to thank God. That makes two of us.

The governor's races don't concern me personally. The stem cell intiative is really modelizing people for Talent, as opponents are claiming that it legalizes cloning. Multiple recent polls have given McCaskill the advantage, but her lead is within the margin of error. My prediction is that the Senate outcome will be 49-49-2, with Lieberman and Sanders caucusing with the Democrats. The outcome won't be know for a while, though, because of absentee ballots. The biggest reason for this is that not enough Republican senators are up for re-election to make that big of an impact. House: 230-205 in favor of the Democrats.

Democrats are counting on the anti-Bush vote this year. I don't think that's limited to just one demographic anymore.

    Stranger Than Fiction

I've liked all of Jim Carrey's dramatic parts. The fact that "Ace Ventura" was a bigger hit than "Eternal Sunshine" or "Man on the Moon" says more about the movie-going public than it does about Carrey's acting ability. Back on topic...Um, err... Will Ferrell...? SHAKE AND BAKE!!!!!

Michigan's economy has been suffering, though. Unemployment is above the national average, and Democrats are associated with higher gas taxes and fuel economy standards that are percieved by many to hurt what's left of their auto industry (because, you know, its the DNC's fault that only Honda and Toyota build cars that get 40 mpg). CNN has their results page already up: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/
  10. They need each other. The Democrats need him so they can save face with the public and in terms of raw numbers. Lieberman needs them because a senator is only as powerful as his party allows him to be, in terms of chairmanships, committee seniority, and cooperation on the liberal issues he supports. Without a party backing him, he's got nothing.
  11. http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/11/03/ct....e.ap/index.html Anybody think Joe will rejoin the Democrats? He wasn't actualy kicked out of the party as this thread's title suggests, but was told he couldn't be CT's senator by some primary voters. The DCCC didn't back him, but could they legally? The real test will be if Christopher Dodd and Liebermann can reconcile their differences. Dodd will probably reveal at some point that he voted for Liebermann in either the primary or the general election. And you have to appreciate that the official Republican nominee is only pulling 5% in some polls.

    Battlestar Galactica

They're making a prequel called "Caprica" that might explain that.

    Saddam sentenced to death

Invasion and Occupation of Iraq? $379 billion. Cost in human life? Approximately 663,000. Saddam Hussein being put to death? Priceless.

    Battlestar Galactica

Baltar probably has some connection to the Cylons he doesn't realize, but were he one he'd have gotten sick like the rest. Before the holocaust, Baltar was the foremost expert on computer engineering. I still don't buy they've given us the real explanation to what Head Six (Baltar's delusion/angel/cylon chip) is, if the writers actually know themselves. The Baltar saga is far from over.

    Battlestar Galactica

He appeared with her in some DVD bonus materials. Richard Hatch was alos very critical of the new BSG early on, and we saw how that turned out. (Hatch has been fantastic as Zarek, in case that hasn't already been said.)

    Marvel's Civil War

Did anyone else read the abortion that was the latest issue of Fantastic Four (#540)? NOT ONLY did they do a seperate version of the Reed/Sue break-up, which cannot in any way be reconciled with the events of Civil War #4, but Reed has suddenly turned into Richard Nixon. Suddenly Reed favors blind obedience to the law just because its the law? The guy who once took over Latveria in violation of international law to keep Dr. Doom's weapons out of the hands of the world's governments? The guy who just got done fighting the U.S. Army to keep them from duplicating his famous rocket trip? THAT Reed Richards?

    The Office, Season 3

The fact that Ryan and Kelly are still dating kind of pushes my suspension of disbelief to the brink. It seems really out of character for Ryan to still be with Kelly, though the Ryan/Kelly gags are hilarious. I'm not saying they should break them up, but they should find some reason to explain why they're still together when he obviously can't stand her.
