One of those chicks looks like my ex-fiance, and another one looks like her sister. Seriously...I almost married her. The resemblance is frightening.

Yeah because girls who grew up on the beach in $25 million mansions are total white trailer trash. Beat me to it.

    Campaign 2008

Or, maybe he's disagreeing because he doesnt think the Iraq war and the Patriot Act were the right things to do in the war on terror...or maybe hes secretly rooting for the terrorists to win! I'm not talking about just the war. I'm talking about how some people feel like the Democrats should take contrary positions just to make themselves look different than the Republicans (in response to your "Yeah, hed be alot better off if he agreed with all this administrations's policies..." comment). I don't know if that assessment applies to Feingold himself, but I do beleive it applies to some of his supporters. The question for the year 2008 is will the anti-withdrawal or pro-withdrawal factions organize around specific candidates, and which will end up controlling the nomination process? Or will party unity and Bush-fatigue unify everyone into supporting whoever ends up with the nomination, regardless of what the state of Iraq is. This could easily turn into 1968 all over again if they're not careful. The mindset I already described, if prevalent, does little to help party unity.
  6. The only people who ever claimed prayer was banned in school were either a few school administrators who didn't know any better or right-wingers who wanted to have an issue to scare their constituents with.

Don't think so. But for some sick reason, even though it wasn't necessarily a BAD film, I'd have liked to see them do "Transformers: The Movie". I mean, after how Crow and Tom reacted to "Robot Rumpus", imagine how they'd react to all the robot deaths in that. ...and, in my mind, I picture Tom and Crow fighting over who is in love with Arcee more. I can't see them doing a cartoon. They did a clip of Armageddon on one of their summer preview shows, but God damn it if I would pay a lot of money to see them rip the whole fucking movie.

I feel that Bayh does have the best chance of winning. That's not the same as me saying I think he'd make the best president.

Weren't you advocating disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing with your previous comment? Or did I completely misunderstand you?

I almost replied that I didn't see how they could ever build Booster back up into a believable hero, but then the name "Hal Jordan" popped into my head.

Feingold just needs to wear a t-shirt that says "EVERYTHING ABOUT THE WAR ON TERROR IS WRONG!!!!!!!!" and he'd never have to give another speech again. He will alienate half of his own party and give the other party a 22% margin of victory? Yeah, hed be alot better off if he agreed with all this administrations's policies... Taking a different position just for the sake of taking a different position makes no sense. No one is right or wrong 100% of the time. Sadly, Arnold Vinick is a fictional character.

    Good Night and Good Luck

I finally saw this movie, and decided to look for a pre-existing thread about it. I read MikeSC's post and was surprised no one did a rebuttal to it. MikeSC is around to do a counter-rebuttal, so I trust that anyone reading this has or will see the movie themselves and come to their own conclusions as to whether or not the film had "any actual basis in reality." The Murrow incident was not the end of McCarthy, but merely one stop along the path of professional self-destruction. But no where in the movie is the idea that Murrow ended McCarthyism ever stated. This is no way contradicts what was presented in the movie. Irrelevant. The perceived importance of the McCarthy/Murrow incident relative to Murrow's other journalistic accomplishments is not something which the film attempts to explore. Unless you have access to the original footage and compare it to the footage shown on "See It Now", there's no way to verify this claim. The fact that CBS could've been making more money from other programming is something which is talked about at length in the film. The film is framed using a speech Murrow gave several years later in which he discusses the dangers of letting television be a purely entertainment driven medum, rather than a medium to discuss important matters of the day. Based on this, would say the lesson the filmmakers intended us to walk away with isn't so much that McCarthyism was reckless, but that television has a responsibility to feed the public discourse and bring important matters to the public's attention. This a point which many critics of this film have completely ignored. The two sides had sharp disagreements about whether the piece should air, but its not as if the Air Force was shown threatening to blow up CBS or anything. Since this is a movie about Murrow, and Murrow really did a show about Moss, I fail to see how this could be considered to not have "any actual basis in reality." And I do not beleive that "See It Now" was attempting to defend Moss's innocence (to my knowledge, no evidence of Moss's guilt exists other than what is cited in the film), but to show how McCarthy was only interested in showboating, and left the hearing only after a few minutes.

    That front page is hideous

Back when I made a stink that there wasn't enough new content on the main page, someone came up with the idea that new articles must also coincide with a style revamp. I would've settled for just new content.
