You heard wrong.

But their movies suck too. So...what does that tell us about their wrestling product?

The problem is nowadays, we have emergency scenarios that can require students to remain sheltered in their classrooms away from pay phones, offices and parents. There was a recent situation in Maryland a few days when a student with a gun allegedly entered a high school. Other students were kept in their classrooms but were allowed to contact their parents by cell phones so the parents could be reassured. Yeah, that's what I want. Kids talking on their cell-phones during a life-threatening emergency instead of staying quiet and listening for directions from the adults. Fuck it if the kids get hurt, but their parents need to be called right away so the parents will feel better.

WWE doesn't need to have a good wrestling show anymore. Hasn't everyone heard? They make movies now.

Stacy Keibler suffers seizure: rushed to NYC Hospital
SuperJerk replied to Dangerous A's topic in The WWE Folder
We're not arguing "who is the biggest box office draw", we're arguing "who is considered an A-list celebrity." You don't have to be the "main star" to be considered an A-list celebrity. You have to be a big enough name that grabs people's attention when they hear it. They are sought-out to be associated with projects because it makes people feel better about the project to have them on board. Samuel L. Jackson is a big enough star that he got himself parts in many of the major films of the last 10 years. THAT is the A-list. -
That joke always kills me. It pops out at me randomly, and cracks me up everytime. You're right.

Genius!

Yes, corporations like to pay former government officials to sit on their boards. That's because they think it'll will get them preferential treatment with federal regulators, not because the banks control the CIA. My favorite, though, is... I'm sure if we tried really hard, we could link all of these people to Kevin Bacon.

Who here supports the current administration?
SuperJerk replied to Your Paragon of Virtue's topic in Current Events
No. You should vote GOP because they are less likely to raise the taxes your currently pay. I'm a little more worried about whether or not my daughter will inherit a $8 trillion debt and have clean air and water than I am with getting an extra $50 in my paycheck. -

If Avengers Disassembled/New Avengers is exhibit 1 towards Bendis being a shit writer, then "The Pulse" is exhibit 2 towards Bendis being a shit writer. It's even worse than Alias, what with the fact that Bendis turned Spider-Man and his entire Daily Bugle supporting staff into impotent, cowardly pussies just so he can have his Mary Sue and Gary Sue characters Jessica Jones and Luke Cage single-handedly bring Norman Osborn to justice for all of his crimes and vile acts against Spiderman and his supporting cast as the Green Goblin, complete with Luke Cage of all fucking people unmasking Norman as GG...... Tell me that didn't really happen.

Have you ever heard of a band call U2? Maybe you've herard of them. They've had a 20 year career and have won multiple Grammys, and have sold out arenas all over the world. Ring a bell???? So...Sam Jackson, Harrison Ford, and Bruce Willis aren't A-list, but Jessica Alba is? Please slap yourself silly. Immediately. -
"This week, Tom Hanks...you'll be facing...KANE!!!!!"

Stacy Keibler suffers seizure: rushed to NYC Hospital
SuperJerk replied to Dangerous A's topic in The WWE Folder
A-list: Harrison Ford, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert DeNiro, Bruce Willis, Bono, Oprah Winfrey. People who have had multiple hit shows/movies/albums and are world famous. Those are the top of the entertainment industry. Alba's famous for being an internet masturbation darling and has only been in one successful movie. Simpson somehow managed to turn a failing music career into reality show stardom and has a become a supermarket tabloid regular. In short, they're not in the same league. -

You have a funny definition of A-list. -
I didn't hate Disassembled because of what happened to the Scarlet Witch. What happened to her was actually a logical continuation of what happened to her waaay back when John Byrne was writing West Coast Avengers. No, I hated Disassembled because of what happened to the Vision, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and the She-Hulk. I've given New Avengers a couple of chances, but I really hate the way the characters are portrayed. The dialogue style doesn't suit them, and I just can't wrap my head around the idea of Wolverine joining the Avengers, given he already appears in 3 other books.

"It's a portable phone!" Didn't That 80's Show star the dad of Unhappily Ever After? Sadly, yes. Oh, come on....I can't be the only one who liked "Unhappily Ever After". You got to love a show that's self-aware of its own low quality.

Could one of you guys catch me up on the Marvel Universe?
SuperJerk replied to haws bah gawd's topic in Literature
He died in 1999, in a mini-series that was supposed to lead to the introduction of the "Infinities" (a bunch of cosmic bad guys mentioned in "Avengers Forever") but the plotline got pushed aside for the "Maximum Security" crossover instead. Galactus was resurrected in the pages of FF and Abraxas was created to replace the Infinities instead as the threat Galactus warned everyone about before dying..... Oh. You know, until I read your post, I forgot "Maximum Security" even existed. -
You are correct. I'm not happy with the direction Booster has gone in since 52 started. Maybe if they explained his motivations better, I'd buy it. Yeah, I know when he was created in the 80s he was supposed to be the sell-out super-hero, but he's developed so much since then it seems wrong to send him back to square one. And his costume reminds me of Capt. Amazing from "Mystery Men."

We live in a world where business leaders help set education policy. Pro-active mission statements are all about the corporate mindset.
