New Bush Press Secretary is former Fox News Host

Nixon went to China to get leverage against the Soviets so they'd sign the SALT treaty and pressure North Vietnam into a cease-fire. This was, of course, after he'd bombed the hell out of Cambodia, Laos, and North Vietnam. -
I'm sorry, but I just can't believe that there are people who are only going to see a movie about one of the most popular fictional characters of the last century because Kevin Spacey is in it. This is Superman we're talking about here, not Pay It Forward.

Fortunately, we have hindsight to tell us otherwise. If you go to IMDB, you'll see that M:I rates slightly better than M:I2. I think a lot of people said it was better because it wasn't as complicated as the first one. Personally, I prefer action movies with a mystery story attached to them to a pure John Woo-style shooting/chase scene/explosion formula action flick. The backlash was from people who were marks for the TV show, and specifically from Peter Graves, who didn't like the way Phelps was portrayed in the movie.

If he's not a liberal plant, this dude really needs to be kicked in the balls a few hundred times. Why are right-wing pundits being totally silent on this guy? If a liberal activitist started protesting military funerals, they'd be all over him. An anti-gay activist does it? Silence. edit: I stand corrected.

I remember that. It was terrible. Isn't that song available on the Smallville CD soundtrack? The longer version of "Save Me" is actually quite enjoyable. Its on the Remy Zero album "Golden Hum." If you like "Save Me," you'd probably like a few other songs on the album.

I might see it just because JJ Abrams is involved. The dude was resposible for the first 2 seasons of "Alias", after all (back when it was good). edit: I just want to emphasize my use of the word "might," by the way. This is also the guy responsible for the show "Felicity." Plus it has Tom Cruise in it.

I'm sure this isn't considered fluff by the Pillsbury family. They're probably worried sick about the little guy. And isn't the Pillsbury Doughboy a veteran of World War I? Come on, have some compassion here, people.

Yea Jefferson doing the LA Purchase keeps him off of the bad list entirely. Much of Jefferson's legacy comes in his pre-presidential years than when he actually took office but his election was crucial to the presidency because it showed that the country would practice what it preached by having a peaceful transfer of power from the Federalists to the Democratic-Republicans. Also good points. -
I think Bob's lying to us.

Since OYL started, they can't fall back on their gimmick of showing the rest of the story in the regular monthly books, because all the current books take place a year after this issue. Sadly, they're still acting like they could.

The Defenders version of Nighthawk is dead, according to the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Book of the Dead. He died in Defenders #106.

I want to know how Shawn Michaels is going to rationalize being an obnoxious pervert on TV again.

The thing you got to remember about when historian rate presidents, is they generally like to use words like "effective" and "leadership" instead of best and worst. That way you can have someone like Jackson on a top list because he was an effective leader, even if he did some horrible things in office. -

Point of comparison here... Polk stole a lot of land from Mexico, and Jackson stole a lot of land from the Native Americans. Jefferson made the Louisiana Purchase, and actually PAID FOR IT. -

Harding's encouragment of American isolationism and the protectionist Republican economic policies that helped lead to the Great Depression created the environment in which something like World War II could occur. That's not the same thing as blaming it on Harding. It just shows what a massive failure, in the long term, Harding's policies were. -

Goldeneye was the best Bond film since Live and Let Die, but this looks like it could be better.

Put me in the "liked the first, hated the second" camp as well.

The changes didn't ruin the movies, but many parts did decrease my enjoyment of them. For instance, I liked the fact that Biggs was added to ANH, but a couple of pretty neat model effects shots were taken out for no reason. There were also some pretty non-sensical changes made that, I feel, hurt the films. The SE were still solid movies, mind you, but did lack some of the charm of the original versions.

Except, you know, his economic policies helped create the economic environment that allowed the Great Depression to occur, and his isolationism and trade policies encouraged the conditions that would help lead to World War II. Creating the Dept. of Veterans Affairs hardly makes up for that. Saying he would have cleaned up his cabinet is like saying John Kennedy would have gotten us out of Vietnam, or Lincoln would have had an inclusive reconstruction. The simply fact is that he did not do it, and we can never for certain what he'd have done had he lived. In fact, he's the person who appointed all of these crooks in the first place, right? Everything I've read suggests he was simply a crooked politician who was appointed the nominee via backroon deals, and gained the White House in the general election by exploited the public's paranoid overreaction to America's involvement in global affairs during the Wilson Administration. -
All I remember is watching it on TV and wondering just what the point was. Here's a funny quote: Someone forgot to tell Coulter that he wasn't actually flying the plane. And what was up with G. Gordon Liddy complimenting the size of Bush's dick?

This thread is beginning to look like a transcript of the Watergate tapes.

Yeah, what gives? The big horrific tragedy that neccesitated the government crack-down was . This isn't "one big story". Its Marvel trying to milk its readers' pockets. Still, Capt. America = beyond cool.

Yes, armed Mexicans crossing the border really stand a chance of winning a gunfight with the American military.
