Contrary to concerns he had at first, Barack Obama felt his first meeting with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich went well. The two became fast friends, though Obama was surprised because the former speaker always looked so much taller on television.

Your choice for U.S. House of Representatives and any other local offices should count for something.

There are still 3 variables in this election, which we've addressed to some degree before, which no one knows what impact they'll have: Will the 7% undecided break in favor of for Obama, McCain, or be split down the middle? How much, if any, impact will the so-called "Bradley Effect" have on Obama's numbers? What, if any, impact will mostly young and lower-income people who use cell-phones as their primary telephone, who are not included in most polling samples, have on the numbers? ________________________ http://www.palinaspresident.us/ Just randomly click on stuff...especially the door, over and over.

I must have missed the speech where Obama encouraged supporters to take control of the means of production and adopt a state of collective ownership of all property.

Someone should ask John Edwards, Joe Lieberman, Jack Kemp, Dan Quayle, Geraldine Ferraro, Walter Mondale, or Bob Dole if THEY consider being a failed vice presidential candidate to be stepping stone to the White House. In all of American history, it has only happened once.

I saw him on Fox News recently and he predicted that the race would either be really close or a blow-out. As noted before, he seems to make a billion conflicting predictions about 1 thing, then announces he was right. Plus, he was Clinton's pro-Republican campaign advisor in 1996 who was fired for leaking government information to a hooker. I was a little surprised Andy Griffith is still alive. Hey, anyone else remember that episode of "Happy Days" where Richie was campaigning for Adlai Stevenson, and then Fonzy made that speech at the end endorsing Eisenhower?

But which one do you think made a more positive impact on the campaign?

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

I think At Home summed that up nicely. Another thought on 2012...if Palin does run, to say that I will find great amusement in seeing the other candidates attacking her is putting it mildly. I really enjoyed the "Gaffe-In" segment on the Daily Show last night, especially the John Kerry comedy album (minus Jon Stewart laughing at his own jokes). http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jh...;title=Gaffe-In

I'd also say being tied to the current state of the economy as well. You're right. It should have said:

I don't think anyone but NBC has the rights to the stuff from the 70s. Back in the 80s, they'd rerun 30-minute versions of them on Nick at Nite, but except for when they occasionally rerun one on NBC, I have not seen them since. I think the only place the Ebersol years will ever see the light of day again is on possible Eddie Murphy compilations. Virtually everything good about those years is already on the "Best of Eddie Murphy" DVD.

You know what I'm least looking forward to about an Obama victory? All the insane rationalizations for McCain losing. Republicans won't be happy with the real explanation: We nominated a grumpy, fumbling candidate even WE didn't like, and who took a ton of self-contradictory positions on issues and mishandled a major crisis. We centered the campaign around two people who turned out to be almost complete frauds: Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. The electorate just wasn't in the mood for our usual sales pitch, so we kept telling people what we were against, and never told them what we were for except lower taxes. On top of that, we were constantly getting tied to two of the most unpopular things in the country: the Iraq War and George W. Bush. They'll probably just do what they usually do: blame the media and claim the electorate was punishing them because they weren't conservative enough.

I missed the full implication of that the first time. This show really requires multiple viewings to catch everything, though not as much as "Arrested Development" did.

I don't know for sure, but I think this idiot is serious.

I'm aware of that, but I can't bring myself to believe she's really in the positions she's in, because for someone in her position to be so misinformed or underinformed is sickening. The VP shouldn't be a walking talking point in human form. And for McCain? Anyone ever seen the 2006 documentary Why We Fight? McCain was interviewed in it, and THAT John McCain is a thoughtful, intelligent man with not just knowledge of issues, but well-thought out (though I don't always agree) ideas and who can think for himself. He is SO MUCH BETTER than this albatross of a VP candidate that's been tied around his neck by his campaign advisors, it makes me sick.
