Translation: Any black person who votes for another black person is only doing it because they're black. Also, Powell should be loyal to the Republicans because they helped his career, even though he thinks Obama's the better candidate. It is as if there haven't been many white conservatives endorsing Obama because of their disillusionment with McCain in past few months, or Powell's career is more important to him than the future of the country. The disgust everyone else has been directing at Glen Beck, I gladly project in the direction of Rush Limbaugh.

See, here I was all this time thinking neither candidate was running for the position as representative of a major religion, but for chief executive of a representative democracy. To me, the idea that divine intervention in the election is required, because someone who is well-liked by people of different religions might win, is appalling.

I'm developing my own crush on Holly.

I watched part of the last Trek movie, "Star Trek: Nemesis," on AMC tonight. Yeah, let's reboot this bitch.

I heard someone on the radio refer to "Sexdrive" as "this generations' Superbad." Um, I thought Superbad was this generations' Superbad.

Maybe the new movie and DVD sales of the first season are playing a part in this?

Marvin's like the punching bag for kids that bounces back every time you hit it. You knew it was pointless, but you just couldn't resist slugging away every time it came at you.

So, I was flipping channels Joe the Plumber was a guest on Fox News' new talk show with Mike Huckabee. I'm trying to figure out why Huckabee has his own show, and why this guy was on it. Hell, I wouldn't even consider it a talk show, but an infomerical for the Republican Party. Also, apparently they were borrowing Maury Povich's set. Maybe in a future episode they'll tell George H. W. Bush: "You are not the father!"

Of course this is coming from a Real Estate Agent so..yeah. I don't think anyone is confident that a recession will be over by the 2012 elections. They'll "let" the recession happen? What kind of bullshit is that? Recessions don't happen at the nod of the head of state. That, and (a) Hoover was Secretary of Commerce from 1921-1929 so he had something to do with the economic policy that helped lead to the Depression, (b) part of the reason people were so pissed at him was because people wanted him to DO SOMETHING about the Depression and he mostly declined, and © hardly anyone knew we were in economic trouble until after Hoover was elected in 1928, but people in 2008 are already aware of the problem and probably won't blame the problems on the person who hasn't taken office yet. So, basically, you don't need any knowledge of U.S. History to sell houses.

To quote Dave Cross, not all Republicans are racists or homophobes. Just most of the people they elect to represent them. The rest just want their tax cut. I wasn't sure if this had been posted yet, but I'd like to comment on it. I'm sure you noticed all she she can say are combinations of the words "anti-America," "pro-America," "liberal," and "far left." What's sad is that, even though I disagree with her, I can piece together a more intelligent and persuasive way to state her point than she can. She keeps repeating saying what she IS saying, but won't clarify what she means or state what she ISN'T saying (despite being asked to clarify). The most idiotic thing about the Bill Ayers/Jeremiah Wright strategy has been that the politicians who are trying to use it to their advantage always stop short of actually saying what they mean. They keep calling Obama's associates un-American, but they refuse to fully commit to the idea that this alledged anti-American-ness was transferred to and instilled into Obama. At the same time, everyone (but McCain) flat refuses to draw any kind of line between Obama and the people they are accusing of anti-American-ness by repeating their talking points without actually elaborating. It is like a guy trying to sell you a car, and he keeps saying that the other model you're thinking about isn't as good a value as his car, but when you ask him if he means the other car has worse gas mileage, resale value, or size, all he does is go "I'm not saying that, I'm saying those other cars aren't as good a value."

Why is everyone about the same age? Sure, Kirk and Spock probably were, but Sulu and Uhura?

Isn't one science-fiction fantasy about the year 2010 enough?

Mitt Romney reveals the 2 things he was lacking to become McCain's running mate.

Does that also mean we can finally drop the "Nixon really won in 1960" nonsense that the Republicans have been reciting for almost a half-century? (Yeah, I didn't think so.)

Source I like the last paragraph: This article presents speculation as fact, since there's no way to test their hypothesis. The argument that people couldn't afford goods because wages were too high is preposterous and self-disproving. While unemployment remained high, America was back up to pre-Depression levels of productivity by 1937. Many New Deal programs were repealed, and things got worse, not better. So why did WW2 end the Depression once and for all? Full employment caused by government spending for the war. So, ultimately, it was government action that ended the Depression, not markets acting on their own.

For some reason I can't explain, this pic seems to make me feel like they're on the right track.

Despite my disagreement with his views, Beck seems like a geniunely nice guy. The thing about Fox that bothers me most isn't their bias, but that all their hosts seem like assholes.

I'm kind of wondeing...Does the charge of "SOCIALISM~!" really have the scare-factor it did 20 or even 10 years ago? After hearing so many McCain-backers use it as a buzz-word, and seeing video of the people at his rallies throw it around as an epithet, I'm wondering if the charge really does have as much power to frighten ANYONE into voting Republican?

FDR was such a bad president that he got elected 4 times, reshaped American politics for the next half-century, and was ranked by historians as our 3rd best president. So, yeah, he was pretty horrible. Anyhoo... http://www.pe.com/localnews/inland/stories...16.3d67d4a.html

I thought Al Jazeera News was nothing but people burning American flags, interviews with terrorists, and live footage of beheadings.
