One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread
SuperJerk replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film
I get the feeling Ford hates Star Wars, but Hamill would've been great. I've always disagreed that they should've kept Maul around. Sure he looked cool, but he was really just a glorified button-man for Godfather Palpatine. He wouldn't have been able to carry the scenes the way Christopher Lee did as Dooku. Besides, you needed to get Obi-Wan over as a legit warrior by having him off a Sith. -
Hopefully the theme music for this one will be better. Or at least have songs that won't be recycled for use in a Mark Wahlberg movie. It'd suck ass if they got anyone but Peter Cullen to voice Optimus Prime.

I live in Missouri, a state with an extremely powerful pro-life lobby. The politicians here will be having a Battle Royal for the chance to be the one to introduce the bill that outlaws it. Until, of course, the voters start kicking them out of office. The reason I see humor in this is that I know the conservative's recent populist rhetoric is just for show. They only cite public opinion when it suits their interest (namely, to justify their opposition to liberal judges and gay marriage). Since every poll shows most people want abortions to be legal to some degree, their populist rhetoric will evaporate faster than an ice cube in the desert. Its just an act. This move was only because they were starting to believe that it would never be possible to get a total abortion ban. Once the Supreme Court has a majority conservative justices, they'll quickly revert to their "abortion is murder" rhetoric and move for its outlaw.

I thought that the "double super secret background"was just them trying to bust out an "Animal House" reference on us. -
I'm sure those Family Guy episodes were funnier than Jon Stewart even before they got moved to the new time slot.

Shit, put him in a turban and teach him the suicide dive on top of it. That's money. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> **chokes to death from laughing so hard**

Scott Keith's got DVD specs on his blog, though he doesn't list a source. http://www.livejournal.com/~rspwfaq/212155.html -
The best novels I ever read were "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving and "The Catcher in the Rye" by JD Salinger. I aslo recently read "A Hope in the Unseen" by Ron Suskind, which is a true story.

It isn't based on one individual comic story, but most resembles Superman and Batman #1-6 (collected as the "Spuerman and Batman: Public Enemies" trade paperback ($12.99)).

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/07/14/cia...s.ap/index.html I highlght my favorite part. What'd they think people would think Rove was talking about one of Wilson's OTHER wives? -
I have to admit there's a certain amount of entertainment value to a right-wing Supreme Court. For example, the religous conservatives trying to explain why a return to mandatory school prayer didn't automatically increase classroom discipline the way they've been claiming it would. Or seeing a few hundred pro-life poltiicians get voted out of office once Roe v. Wade is inevitably overturned.

Did that book come out a whole year ago? **pulls out personal copy** The cartoon in question appears on page 160, below a parody of a Doonsebury strip (which is just four static panels of a drawing of the White House with no captions). Above the fake Mallard Fillmore cartoon, this caption appears: The cartoon itself says: The cartoon is dated October 1, 1998 (Nothing particularly deragogatory there, except pointing out that the strip reads more like conservative indoctrination than an attempt at humor.) On the opposite page there's a Mad Magazine fold-in of Richard Nixon. On page 159 there's a fake Peanut's cartoon, with Lucy telling Pig Pen (who is holding a copy of "Socialist Worker"): "You're looking a little dirty there, comrade!" The fact that Fillmore's readers thought any of this was real kind of says something about Fillmore's readers...doesn't it? No, its not real. Nor are the naked pictures of the Supreme Court Justices. Morons.

Didn't he loose his law license, though? Not to mention the whole perjury thing... Looks like Bush might get two picks soon... http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/07/13/rehnquis...alth/index.html

No, I didn't see that. That kid who got cut in the first episode was singlehandedly setting public perception of gay people back 5 years everytime he spoke. I thought he was going to cry when they took away his cell phone.

Except Kurt Angle doesn't work for TNA, and I'm not sure who in TNA they could substitute for Angle. Anyone. As much as we all hate Jeff Jarrett, he is an effective heel and would've worked fine if he was willing to let Haas win the feud. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nevermind. I thought you were talking about having Haas beat Angle at the 3 minute Invitational and getting his medals, not the part about getting his armbands slashed. He could probably still use it.
-
It was two years ago, actually, so your "gave Cena as much as he's given anybody in a while" comment is a lot longer than you think.

Except Kurt Angle doesn't work for TNA, and I'm not sure who in TNA they could substitute for Angle. _________________ I found this interesting... The creative team's motto: "Never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity." Funny how much Haas sounds like one of those 12 year-old internet jack-offs on their parents' computer who don't know what they're talking about.

I'd makr out if he called him "Y2Jerk". 'Cause, you know...

I just realized its been a while since we had a Cena-bashing thread. If that means people have been storing up their Cena hated for a while, so this should get good....

Now that THAT'S over, its time for an update.... http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/07/12/sco...h.ap/index.html I love that quote from Laura Bush towards the end. CAN NO ONE IN WASHINGTON SPEAK WITHOUT SOUNDING LIKE A CAMPAIGN AD THESE DAYS?

Raymore, Missouri. And I'm not just saying that because that's where I just moved. No siree, Bob.

People who drop out of college and then complain
SuperJerk replied to Edwin MacPhisto's topic in No Holds Barred
I think this problem could be avoided if more people waited a year or so before entering college in the first place. I worked my ass off in college because I'd spent the previous year working my ass off for $6.25 an hour and didn't want to spend the rest of my life that way. Having the real world slap you in the face with its dick is an awesome motivator.
