Okay...I guess we should all clarify how we interprete "for a while." I'm taking Marvin to mean decades or ever, since he's worried about socialism.

The "Troopergate" report came out, simultaneously declaring her guilty and not guilty... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/11/us/polit...trooper.html?em

I rest my case. did you read the link? The decision of the feds to buy into smaller banks is imminent. Its going happen, not a question of if but when. Okay, yes, it is now public knowledge they're buying stakes in the banks, you were half right. But you're still worried "they won't be cashing out soon" which is still unfounded speculation, in my opinion. Also, the government's stock purchases will be of nonvoting shares so it will not have power to run the companies.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis
SuperJerk replied to Cheech Tremendous's topic in Current Events
The economy doesn't work instananeously, though. The bail-out was only passed about a week ago. The $700 billion hasn't been spent yet, and nobodies even sure exactly how its going to be used. Stock prices are still dropping because there's still a lot of anxiety and uncertainty on the part of the traders, because people are trying to dump too many stocks at once. We need to give it a little more time before we decide if this worked or not. -
<raises eyebrow> So you are admitting that socialists and the Democratic Party are, indeed, threats to America? Thank you. No, but are you admitting that the socilaists and the Democratic Party aren't one and the same? Thank YOU.

Let's hope that report's wrong.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis
SuperJerk replied to Cheech Tremendous's topic in Current Events
This killed the article for me: I don't agree that the importance of banks has been exaggerated, given how important credit is to the purchasing of manufactured goods, and what an important sector of the economy that is and will continue to be. -
I rest my case.

the US Government now has a vested interest in the Mortgage Industry, and there are talks of the Government buying into banks in the next few weeks. If you dont see that as leading down the path to socialism, then I guess we just wait til they offer to buy some other industry up. How about the Auto Industry? Reports are saying the Global Auto industry will COLLAPSE by next year. The government would almost certainly have to buy out the Big 3 to keep all those high paying jobs from disapearing overnight...though you know somewhere up a tree there is an environmentalist going crazy at the thought of there being no more cars to pollute the Earth..but I digress.. You're trying to pass off speculation as fact.

I hardly think the number one threat to this country right now are either the socialists (all 7 of them) or the Democratic Party.

I was usig the 4 minutes time between your post and mine to find a hot picture of her, so in that respect I think we all win. _______________________ I'm sure there's some real morons at Obama rallies, but DAY-UM...

Meghan McCain. She wrote a "children's" book called My Dad, John McCain, and has a blog about life on the campaign trail at http://www.mccainblogette.com/.

Bob is 100% correct on this.

I don't think it was a big deal, other than for the creepiness of the look on his face when he said it.

Barack Obama won. John McCain lost. The person I'd visit in the middle of the night would be Cindy, but not for the reason you mentioned.

According to amazon.com, the list price for an overhead projector is $189.99. A home-planetarium projector is $299.99 (list price). But, both are under $130 on amazon.com (with free super-saver shipping, I'm sure!), which even John McCain would agree is an awesome way to cut federal spending if he'd ever fucking learn to use a computer.

And he also ignored the Israel question...because it was STUPID. I disagree. I really like CNN's political team, as you get a bunch of varying viewpoints from both sides of the aisle analysing the debate. They're not telling you what to think at all. I think I wanted to mention more about analysts in general, but I tend to agree with you here. For the most part, CNN's not bad, but this analysis is nauseating. Definitely from the Ohio voters. Wolf Blitzer = the John Madden of CNN, always stating the obvious.

Cindy McCan looks like she's dressed like a purple flight attendant.

"What don't you know, and how will you learn it?" That's totally a question you hear in teaching classes.

You know how why I think Obama's saying lots of deep, nuanced things about foreign policy? Cuz he's boring the shit out of me right now.

Would we wait for UN approval to defend Israel? What American politician in his right mind would say they'd ever do THAT?
