Did the Rock do anything besides that crappy song about Pie? He had a guest vocal on a Wyclef Jean song.

Nothing wrong with that. Each match can get 20 minutes! Each match will NOT get 20 minutes.
-
God damn it.

I'm thirty. Assuming I'll live until I'm 80, $4 million would give me $80,000 a year. Of course, by 2055, $80,000 a year might be minimum wage.

Mike just can't let stuff go, can he?

He could be on there multiple times with years cited denoting when those opinions were held.

So...being denied the right to eat a Grand Slam omelette is worth $4 million?

Wow, 6 scheduled matches.

My favorite part was always when the soldiers would run around the auditorium at the very beginning yelling and pointing guns at audience members.

And "mainline" or "oldline" Protestantism is dying. Fast. Evangelicalism is growing steadily and the Southern Baptists are the single largest Protestant denomination in the US. Pentecostalism is also growing quite rapidly. How the hell is Pentecostalism growing? I thought that was an 80s fad not unlike Lycra and Duran Duran. Pentacostals uses the most hardcore scare tactics to win converts I've ever seen. At a church I went to in my misspent youth, they'd do a Christmas play every year. In the play, the Anti-Christ had already taken over the Earth, and on the eve of Jesus returning for the Battle of Armageddon, a lone Christian family (who weren't saved until after the rapture) evades the Anti-Christ's army and recollects how the Earth had fallen under his rule (including an assasination on the Anti-Christ, and his subsequent resurrection at the hands of the False Prophet). At the end of the play, several members of the family are captured by soldiers, but still refuse to take the Mark of the Beast. Jesus returns in the nick of time to save the family right as the soldiers are about to execute them point blank. They still do this production every Christmas season, complete with actors in soldier costumes with guns, guardtowers, search lights, and "Hell" set. http://www.tribulationchristmas.com/

Famous quote: "What's good for General Motors is good for America."

No, but good ol' Strom Thurmond sure filibustered his hardest to delay the vote. That's why comments like Czech's "We need more pointless bullshit being spoken in the U.S. Senate. Yay Democrats." like this is something new will never stop amusing me. '64, was Thurmond even a Republican by then? Guess we're equal, since I'm still chuckling over how you were waxing poetic about an ideal Communist state. Strom joined the Republicans in September of 1964 in protest of the Democrats' support of the 1964 Civil Right Acts. Its not like the guy's positions changed when he switched parties.

He's been working in comics since World War 2.

This is horrible... Just horrible...

I'd be interested in seeing a source on that.

You'll excuse me if I don't share the view that everyone on welfare got there due to poor decisions, rather than economic and social obstacles.

Texas Legislators vote to ban gay foster parents

If you carefully examine Stalin's regime, you can see that he was trying to follow Marx to the letter. Even Lenin realized towards the end that Marx's ideas were unworkable, but it was only after it was too late to reverse the damage. I think the basic ideas of communism are more stupid than evil, but the execution of communism (even according to Marx) is definitely evil. Even as fucked up as it is, I have a hard time pointing to communism as unabashedly evil, though, because it was based on idealistic goals. -
Ditto.

The whole "like a bride" idea is a metaphor taken to literally.

I'm trying hard to think of a political philosophy that doesn't incorporate violence to some degree. Some of problems with Communism in Russia and Cuba is that it was imposed by a tiny minority on an agricultural society. That's not what the system was ever intended to be. That's not to say that even under the conditions that Marx actually described, communism was either (a) a workable plan, or (b) contrary to human nature. Its failure as a system was and is inevitable. Basically, what I'm saying is that the idea behind communism, people working collectively for the good of society without ownership, is more misguided than evil. However that theory, as we well know, is unworkable without some major acts of evil to back it up. -

Let me totally blow everyone's mind here for a second and admit something: I agree with Mike on this one. The US Senate collectively represents the people of all 50 states. Senators are directly elected by the people. If the Democrats allow the up or down vote to happen, then they can turn how crappy these judges may or may not be into a 2006 issue. In the mean time, they just look like a bunch of sore losers.

This report is indeed awesome.
