The opportunity cost is that the money is used to create jobs in the public sector rather than the private sector. I'm not arguing for socialism here or anything, but I also don't believe that the private sector is the utopia of efficiency and job creation that libertarian economists make it out to be. Consider how low taxes were and how unregulated the economy was before the New Deal. It didn't stop recessions and depressions from still happening. Is the fear of putting yourself in a higher tax bracket really enough to keep people from trying to become rich? I doubt it. edit: That's not to say that I'm not open to looking at data that supports the theory (as opposed to the anecdotal stuff people usually give me), but I have yet to see any that was convincing.

I think he's just trying to argue that he doesn't care. Mike's premises shift so much its hard to tell sometimes exactly what it is he's proposing.

They didn't admit that the right doesn't exist, they admitted it wasn't specifically mentioned in the Constitution. WHAT YOU'RE FORGETTING is that the 9th Amendment exists specifically so not every right needed to be laid out in the Constitution. How about we create two Americas? One where people have a right to privacy, and one where people do not have a right to privacy. Which one do you really want to live in? If you truly believe you have no right to privacy, then would you mind if I posted your social security number, bank account numbers, and credit card numbers? I didn't think so. No, not out of thin air.

I don't think I have ever once heard a non-religious argument against abortion. While I'm sure such arguments exist (ex: medical complications), I've yet to hear any from pro-lifers I know, and I've been on both sides of the debate Most anti-abortion people may be religious, but being religious doesn't make you automatically pro-life. And being non-religious doesn't automatically make you pro-choice. The two things simply are NOT the same.

More quotes from the Roe decision.

^Exactly.^ You think they don't know about all that already? Jesus, everybody's abortion position is only flaunted for all the media to see every election round. The people overwhelmingly support the banning of partial birth abortions. Do you think forbidding judges from outlawing it will play well? What the fuck are you talking about? Judges don't have the power to outlaw partial birth abortion. This entire argument is a red herring. Umm, they can EASILY rule in cases that bans on partial birth abortions are perfectly legal and Constitutional. But that's not what you said. Ruling "in cases that bans on partial birth abortions are perfectly legal and Constitutional" isn't the same thing as "forbidding judges from outlawing it". In order for the partial birth abortion bans to be considered Constitutional, they would need to still be allowed in cases where it is "necessary, in appropriate medical judgment, for the preservation of the life or health of the mother" (quoted from the Roe v. Wade decision).

LOL -- Do you also guess what the topic will be about? I usually bat around .150 when I try this... That's an amusing twist. Maybe I'll try doing that.

People need to stop equating being anti-abortion with being religious.

And who is in the PTC? Former vice-presidential candidate and DEMOCRAT, Joe Lieberman. Yeah, we get that you're a Republican. Lieberman being attached to the PTC doesn't mean that the majority of it's members aren't the religous right as mentioned above. Just making sure that was known. Except that Joe Lieberman's not actually *in* the PTC.

Hey, I'm not the one who wrote Episode 3. -
Good lord, that second one is gay... I'm digging the blue one for some reason, but the first one is the best.

I figured out everythig I ever needed to know about Kevin Dunn when, during the first "Tough Enough" audition, he recommended keeping the "Bobby Jo" chick based purely on her looks, despite the fact she openly said the only reason she wanted a job in the company was so she could pose for Playboy. Of course, the bitch quit after like 2 or 3 weeks of training. Don't forget he's a buck-toothed jackass who was behind hiring all the "pretty young male" announcers, and was responsible for the Torrie-Dawn angle. Don't forget his crown achievement, Katie Vick. That was Dunn's idea? I thought it was Gerwertz. It was Kevin Dunn that came up with that idea. I've heard Gerwitz before but Dunn is the one that most people point the finger to and blame for Vick. There's no denying that Dunn is great at his job, just keep him away from creative. Whether or not he came up with Katie is a moot point now, we've established that Dunn is a piss-poor booker. Dunn is a great television guy, just keep him away from booking. Part of being the executive producer of a television show is making sure the writing isn't God awful and there aren't a steady-stream of production fuck-ups. I'll cut him a little slack on the production fuck-ups because its live TV, but he still deserves part of the blame for the shows sucking.

Bobby Jo was on the show for at least a month before she quit. It was the idea that he thought she was a potentially good women's wrestler BASED PURELY ON THE FACT SHE HAD BIG TITS that bugs me. There were lots of other bone-headed comments he made during the TE auditions, but that's just the first one that comes to mind.

The title apparently changed hands five or six times the night Trish won it. -

I always thought JR's title was "Vice President, Talent Relations".

Its good when wrestlers remember they were once fans themselves.

I know I wouldn't mind seeing Victoria wrestle herself.

I guarantee that, wherever he is right now, he's not putting anyone over.

As fond of her as I am, I still think she's only still around until they can get a Playboy pictorial out of her. Then she'll get kicked to the curb as well. Apparently she wanted to do the pictorial for this year's WM promo issue. I remember readin she was on a radio show last year saying she'd love to do a shoot with PB. This comes up every time she's a guest on Byte This. Look at it this way, if she posed for Playboy and it got her more over, she'd have a job for life as long as she didn't get a big ego about it.

Imagine if the Monday after Wrestlemania, Batista beat the guy who'd just beaten the Undertaker. By losing, Undertaker would have elevated two guys instead of zero guys. Then when Orton came back in 3 months, he could claim Batista only won because of his battle with Undertaker the night before, and that if Orton could beat Taker then he'd have no trouble beating Batista now that he's healthy. Did it make sense for Orton to go over? Not only yes, but hell yes.

The decline of former Hardcore Champions

Booker T and Trish were hardcore champs? (Wait...did I just use "Trish" and "hardcore" in the same sentence?) Seriously, though, since for 90% of its existence, the Hardcore title was the undercard title, it doesn't come as a surprise that many of the folks who held it have been released. That 10% was when RVD got it over to being a legit upper-midcard title, and faced guys like Jericho, Angle, the Rock, and Undertaker for it.
