Florida Bill Would Allow Students To Sue Teachers
SuperJerk replied to Hogan Made Wrestling's topic in Current Events
Well, your college, according to every poll or study on the subject, is the exception, not the rule. S. Carolina, 1993-1998. And we're a "conservative" college in the eyes of fringe leftist psychos. -=Mike I feel your pain. I, too, have had crackpot leftists accuse me of being too conservative. -

Ok, finally this story is newsworthy. No shit. I have to admit, the only reason I'm even remotely paying attention to this idiotic saga is to watch the display of contortionist-like reasoning the conservatives are using to justify doing anything to keep the woman "alive". I find the obvious hypocrisy too deliciously amusing to completely ignore. -

Ann seems to want us to think that no Republican president ever used troops against other Americans, and no Democrat ever wanted to use military force against a foreign power. Maybe I'm reading too much into her statement, but that seems to be what she trying to convince us of. You lost me at "Ann Coulter trying to convince........." As if that is possible or something....... Since I never uttered that particular phrase, it would be impossible indeed. What I meant was that it seems like Ann's using the fact that Democrats have, from time to time, used armed federal agents against American citizens as proof that they only want to use armed federal agents against other Americans. What she forgets, or at least wants US to forget, is that Democrats and Republicans have both found it necessary to exercise this power against Americans. Acknowledging that Republican office holders have also done this (because some times it needs to be done) would render her only sliver of evidence (the fact that Democrats have done it) completely null and void, thus negating her totally idiotic point. She's actually saying that Dems have a history of using federal troops to engage in some truly horrific acts against innocent people, not that Republicans have never used federal troops when needed. -=Mike No, that couldn't have been her point, since her second example was not a "horrific act against innocent people". Wait...she thinks the Branch Davidians were innocent people? No wonder I missed her point. -
People like Lieberman, McCain, Hagel, etc. are often despised because they make it harder for intense partisans to demonize the other party as being too different or extreme. They're afraid if they admit they respect those on the other side, it'll make those "THE OTHER GUY IS SATAN" fund-rasing campaigns seem less credible.

The difference between a used car saleman and a soldier is that the used car salesman didn't agree to give up many of his rights as a citizen in order to take the job. People forget that being a part of the military isn't just a job, its a full committment of your life. THEY OWN YOU. Recruiters don't do a very good job of explaining this to the people who join, but the recruit training NCOs sure the fuck try to make a point of it.

I find it humorous when someone who joined the military of their own free will suddenly realizes they might actually have to do their sworn duty and take part in a war.

I keep hearing all these horror stories about how leftist professors abuse their power, but I can't imagine anything like that happening at any of the schools I've gone to. And, like I said before, the history department at the college I got my BS from was heavily populated with conservatives. Seriously, Mike, where'd you go to college anyways? 1970s Moscow? -
I have to say I admire the way Joe sticks to his guns, even if I don't agree with him a lot of the time. Did Joe ever try to make excuses for supporting the Iraq War the way Kerry did? Hell, no.

Another strategy would be for the students to organize and complain to the department chair or to the school's administration. That might work better, and a complaint coming from multiple people carries more weight and credibility. Traditionally, I think this is the way most students try to handle these things. I wish I'd known not to take so many morning classes. Hot chicks very rarely attend morning classes. I went to class with so many frumpy girls that I was starting to think our school uniform was sweats and a ponytail. I swear to God, this is the most educated wrestling mesage board in the history of the internet. We got math professors, law students, high school teachers, economists... We're the Smart Marks, and we got the degrees to prove it. -

Sometimes professors have to express a viewpoint in order to get it out there so it can be looked at critically. I think the problem is that a lot of professors express opinions without realizing how many people are unable to recognize that that's all it is. I've had tons of professors express opinions (liberal, moderate, and conservative), but not a single one of them made agreeing with that opinion a requirement for doing well in the class. Good luck finding one. One what? A liberal student or a conservative professor? I've met plenty of both in my time. I had tons. And for lots of kids, transferring would mean losing out on tons of money already spent on other classes because of one pyscho prof. And transferring out of the class isn't possible since sometimes the nutty one is the only class available and that class is needed to stay on course to graduate on time. Punishing students because of a professor is equally pathetic. It depends on how far along in your program you are. A lot of schools are pricks about transfer credits, but usually if you stay in the same state you'll be okay. I'll admit, schools are way too tidewaddish when it comes to keeping money for dropped classes, though. But dropping a class is cheaper than getting a lawyer. -

Maybe. Possibly. But DC has seemed to have planned their "event" miniseries with this in mind, so who knows? What's next? DC gonna release a cross-over mini-series called "JLA: The Watchtower Watchmen"? This idiotic milking of the "Crisis on Infinite Earth" title is ridicules, especially when the new series has nothing to do with that series. -

Their criticism was not liberal in nature, but of the "he's immoral/spends too much/too weak on national security" variety. -
Let the media frenzy begin!! "John Lennon must be banned from our radios and our record stores, as his music encourages teenage violence and aggression." Instant Karma's gonna get you...with an AK-47.

They're the ones who prefer not to be categorized. They think that they're too enlightened to fall into either the conservative or liberal camp...but they just end up being ultra-liberal. Oh, bullshit. I had multiple history professors who made it their mission in life to bitch about the Clintons and Ted Kennedy. -
I think he started that promo after he beat Austin at No Way Out 2001, except at least at that time it lead to a fairly entertaining match with the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. His telling of said promo was interupted by the quad tear.

Booker's past his prime, but he can still fire up a crowd and work a competent match.
