I seriously doubt that. I'll give Vince credit for being a great promoter, but there's no way he'd know what the reaction would be from the fans. Its not like was sitting around thinking to himself "Wow, I really need to do something that'll usher in the Attitude Era." The idea was to create controversy, which is essentially what the Attitude Era was about. The product was headed in a new direction and this was the final nail in the coffin for the "new generation era". I think Vince knew that scewing one of his biggest stars at the time would create controversy and interest, maybe not at the absurd level it turned out to be in the long run, but he knew it would get people talking. I still believe all he was thinking about was how to get the belt off of Bret so WCW couldn't say that had the real WWF champion on their show.

Considering the way the JBL/Show feud has been built around Joy, there's no real reason their scheduled cage match at No Way Out needs to be for a belt. Angle should win and defend the title against HBK or Undertaker at Wrestlemania.

Hopefully Kurt Angle be defending the WWE title in the main event. (Considering the way the JBL/Show feud has been built around Joy, there's no real reason their scheduled cage match needs to be for a belt.)

Good to know. Well, they delivered it this morning. My plan is to use the zoom to cut off the top and bottom of the screen when I'm watching TV, and not play video games for more than 1 hour at a time. I've had Best Buy sales associates tell me stuff that was just flat out wrong about my JVC 32" flatscreen (which I STRONGLY RECOMMEND for its enhanced widescreen feature...the Best Buy folks had no clue how this feature worked) and my DirecTV (regarding the expense of obtaining a replacement receiver) before I bought them. Still, I'm sure there's lots of knowledgable and professional folks who work there I just haven't met yet.

You're an idiot! Well excuse the fuck outta me for not getting some obscure joke! You're not perfect either.

That lucky little bastard.

For those of you who don't know who she is: Not the best picture of her I've seen. She sang America the Beautiful at a Smackdown taping I was at once. She's even hotter in person.

Anyone else realize whoever typed "I just blew myself" on the descriptions misspelled "blew"?

Thanks. My friend, who I'll admit is not an expert, was telling me that the big screen TV sold today are less likely to have burn-ins than the TV of a few years ago. Anybody know if this is true?

Couldn't. Agree. More.

I was referring to the last ten years as a whole. UPN seems to have gotten a new lease on life with popular shows like "Veronica Mars" and "America's Next Top Model". UPN cannot match the WB network's track record for hit shows, though. Like I said, there have been years where UPN cancelled nearly its entire line-up (save "Star Trek"), while WB had shows like "Buffy", "Dawson's Creek", "Charmed", "Angel" (which was still pulling good numbers when it was cancelled), "Smallville", "Gilmore Girls" and "7th Heaven" which consistently pulled in good ratings for years.
-
^WB is part of the same company as TNT and TBS, though.^ A Brief History of UPN UPN has been around for 10 years now, and has only produced 4 memorable shows, two of which were Trek spin-offs. It was launched at roguhly the same time as the WB network (which has consistently aired popular shows like "Buffy", "Dawson's Creek", "7th Heaven", "Angel", "Charmed", "Smallville", and "Gilmore Girls") that regularly creams UPN in the ratings. After its first six months, back in 1995, it cancelled every show on its line-up except "Star Trek Voyager". UPN picked up the rights to "Buffy" and "Roswell" in 2001, but neither show helped the network much. ("Roswell" was never a hit on WB, and "Buffy" suffered tremendously in level of quality the last 2 years it was on.) Paramount almost launched UPN back in the late 70s, but plans were scrapped and its premiere show, "Star Trek: Phase Two", was changed into a feature film. It was widely reported that the network was on its last legs in 1999, before Smackdown came along. Kevin Smith turned down their offer to broadcast his "Clerks" cartoon because he was told the network was almost dead. He tells the story on the cartoon's DVD commentary and credits wrestling with keeping UPN afloat (even wishing he'd taken UPN's offer, since ABC ended up dicking him over).

I think Meltzer is right on this one. The Oakland Tribune reporter got her quotes from the Television Critics Association gathering last week where there were a lot of other reporters present. In order to believe her story, one would have to believe that she was the only one out of that whole room of reporters listening when Moonves supposedly announced the Smackdown "cancellation". Not to mention the "reporter" kept calling it "World Wrestling Federation."

I forgot to say "Please". PUH-LEEEEEZZZ????? Done! Thank you!

Psicosis to get a tryout match this Sunday
SuperJerk replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in The WWE Folder
After the way Ultimo was treated, I refuse to get excitied about this. -
^Wow...Meltz sure did an elaborate job explaining why he thought this/where he got the information.^ Directv price increase info Until March 1rst when all the packages go up $3. But thats another story. The $42.99 that I cited already INCLUDES the upcoming rate hike.

Heymans "Buy the DVD or we'll break your neck through a table" with accompanied ECW classic footage wasn't enough promotion for you? They did it on every show for about a month. Oh..and the Flair DVD set is better. And I can't believe most places want $29 for the ECW set. I was happy to find it on sale after Christmas for $22, just like last year with the Flair set (got it for like $24 after Christmas instead of $35). I must have lucked out. I bought it for $16 the day it came out with a free RVD figure.
-
Why don't you have cable? Well..in the literal sense, Cable isn't available to everyone..but he could get Satelite TV, but maybe he doesn't want to spend $50+ a month on it. DirecTV is $42.99 for one receiver with local channels. If they want SmackDown! on UPN in 2007, they will make Booker T champion. Where'd you guys get 2007 from?
-
People are still pushing for an RVD World Title reign? I know I'm out of the loop, so perhaps I've missed something, but RVD has been (rightfully) going through the motions since late 2002. RVD > Bradshaw. And don't give me that crap about "he's got an entertaining gimmick", because he doesn't.

I think Cena's 15 minutes of fame are up, the guy is beyond lame right now. And I blame Crapshaw for SD's cancellation. Hey, I said "might" didn't I?

Here's the full article: http://www.insidebayarea.com/searchresults/ci_2532085 I really love it when alledgedly professional websites can't get simple things right like how to properly space a paragraph or even the name of the company you are talking about correct. By the way, dumbasses, when you add text to a quote you're supposed to use these: [ ], not these: ( ). Also, the fact that "Star Trek: Nemesis" didn't do well at the theaters over two years ago is a stupid reason to consider cancelling a TV show.

^Dude, I totally hear Cornette's voice in my head when I read your posts.^

I quit watching Smackdown regularly when Bradshaw got his main event push. I only tune in occasionally to see if it sucks as bad as it sounds. I almost quit watching Raw right before Benoit jumped. I'm still watching Raw most weeks, mostly for Benoit and Batista.
