Remember all that talk about torture & rape rooms?
SuperJerk replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
But I thought in Bush's Inaugural speech, he said he was in favor of expanding human rights worldwide![/naive] -
I forgot to say "Please". PUH-LEEEEEZZZ?????

I bought "WWE Theme Addict" and was shocked by how much better theme music is in stereo. Except Heidenreich's. His actually sounded worse. edit: HEY, I JUST REALIZED IF SMACKDOWN'S ON CABLE, CENA'S LYRICS MIGHT NOT SUCK ANYMORE!!!!!!!
-
Considering how good the Smackdown ratings are compared to 99% of all cable shows, they won't have any trouble finding a new network. To me this is a good thing, since my local UPN affiliate is a half-ass UHF station that broadcasts with horrible picture and sound.

Worst. Idea. Ever. edit: Okay, maybe not the WORST idea ever, but certainly a very, very bad one.

But, deep down, can anyone truly hate Bischoff? He's like Baltar on "Battlestar Galactica" or Dr. Smith on "Lost in Space". He's so slimey, he's cool, and you can't help but like him.

For what it's worth, the original plan was for Orton to win the title at WM, jump to Smackdown and turn heel. Currently, the plan is apparently for Batista to turn before WM, probably at the Rumble or Raw the day after, and Orton to go heel, with him still jumping to Smackdown, and the WM main event being a three-way with Batista, Hunter and Orton. Apparently with HHH coming on Raw the next night whining about how it took 2 guys to beat him.

You have to switch your DVD player to 16:9 mode. It then transmits an image to the TV if viewed on a regular shaped television would make everything look skinnier (which you can do on virtually any DVD player). On a 16:9 TV, it looks normal proportions, but its shaped like a movie screen. The "enhanced" mode is a slightly higher resolution picture because it makes better use of the space. Whether or not it gets rid of the black bars completely depends on how wide the image is supposed to be viewed at. For example, the "Spider-Man" DVD fills the entire screen. "Lord of the Rings" leaves tiny black bars at the top and bottom. Thanks for the feedback. I honestly don't play my X-Box that much, so maybe I'm just being paranoid. Still, were talking about a lot of money, even for the cheapest HD television.

Exactly. Batista will remain over if they continue to book him the same way. Step 1: Heel blathers on and on Step 2: Batista makes a subtle threat towards the heel that makes him sound cold and badass. Step 3: Repeat step 2 for awhile until the fans are rabid for a Batista ass-kicking of heel. Step 4: Batista kicks heel's ass. That's all they have to do. Think about heel Edge right now. Whining about being screwed out of title shots. Now imagine Batista responding to an Edge promo the same way he treats HHH. It would work. If you want to totally destroy Batista: 1. As Brian says, book him like Brock. For the millionth time, Undertaker did not put over Brock. Brock jobbed in a HANDICAP match to Taker, for crying out loud. 2. Turn Batista into a crowd-sucking up gosh-gee-willickers face. "Come on everyone! Boo the evil foreigners! USA! USA! Your hometown sports team is really cool!" 3. Have him go against HHH for the belt and fail, turning him into loser #489 who can't get the job done against HHH. Vince, hire this man.

It was $249. $100 better than the one Circuit City was pushing. Even with the warranty (yeah, I bought it because its good for 4 years and I did have a monitor go out on me once before), the monthly payments are less than $40 a month. I've heard about the problem with putting it on pause also, but wouldn't any score icons or ammo numbers get burned into the screen as well? They usually stay on the screen for most of the game, right?

Why ? One possible scenario: Batista wins the belt, beats the piss out of everyone for a year which the people go nuts for. Meanwhile, a face/heel gets built up and built up for a year, all the while staying away from Batista. Then, come the Rumble, this wrestler wins the Rumble, faces Batista at WM XXII, and beats him for the belt. Batista gets over with a year long reign that the people, presumably, would go nuts for, and the unnamed wrestler gets over for being the guy to finally end the reign of the beast that is Batista. Hunter might not like that idea, because it means him not being the top guy for an extend period, but Batista would go for it, because he'd be in the Billy Graham role. That'd be a good way to book it, of course, but I can't see Batista holding the belt past Summerslam. You're right, though, the more I think about it the more it makes sense that the Batista/HHH *MUST* be for the title. Especially since Batista's obviously winning the Rumble. I'm some what amused by the prospect of 2 months of HHH trying to convince Batista to jump to Smackdown and challenge Bradshaw.
-
I see your point, but longterm-wise there's nothing they can do with the guy once he wins the belt.
-
That would be a really bad idea. If Hunter is dropping the World Title to Batista at WM XXI, then he'd have to get the belt right back, and a quickie title change right now, when they've only just filled the vacancy, would take even more edge off of the World Title, and they absolutely should not be doing that. For better or for worse for the long term, right now, Hunter, as World Champion, needs to be kept strong so it means more when he loses the title to Batistia. The idea I was trying to convey was that the HHH/Batista feud shouldn't be for the title.

Yeah, the NWA replica is here to stay.

Hass of Pain's avatar really forces me to take his comments more seriously. (Not that they weren't well reasoned to begin with.)

Am I the only one who thinks Orton should win the title at the Royal Rumble, then turn heel the next night on Raw? If they were going to do that, this might be a good test for reaction.
-
I don't usually visit this folder, but I have to say this is the stupidest thing I have ever read.
-
I wouldn't put money on this since they haven't pushed him as the "Legend Killer" for months. It makes no sense for Orton to put Taker over, and I doubt Taker would put Orton over. Plus, someone would have to turn heel for it to work.

Did Dave say this, or the interviewer? Its a great observation either way.

If they put Rey in a title program I might actually start watching regularly again. I've only watched sporadically since Big Show threw Angle off of the balcony. I could see that they were building the show around Bradshaw, one of the most boring wrestlers alive. Everybody keeps talking out how he's risen to the occasion with his matches and cuts great promos, so I finally tuned in again the week he wrestled Kurt Angle, since many who'd already seen the show said it was a good match and his opening celebration/confrontation was entertaining. I hated it. Bradshaw simply bores the hell out of me. I hate watching him, and I certainly don't want to watch him wrestle for the world title. He only uses five or six generic hoss moves (the Undertaker is Ricky Steamboat by comparison), and his promos still don't rise above the generic "your hometown sucks/I'm better than you" heel promos. Regardless of whether or not the ratings and buyrates are good, or if people will tune in just to see him get beat, but I can't stand watching him at all.

Unless they had another one that I'm unaware of, the match was in 02. I know because Taker was champ when that match happened, and it ended in a pin/submission spot where no one won. Real good match, but that was two and a half years ago, when Kurt was healthy, and Taker was less broken down. Really doubtful that they can replicate that one, even if it IS the biggest show of the year. They had another one. Angle was champ. It was in NO. Finish was UT hit Angle with the Last Ride but Brock ran in to stop the pin. As I already posted, they had matches on both July 4, 2002 and September 4, 2003 that were quite good. Smackdown episodes from July 4, 2002 and September 4, 2003 say different. SEE??????

Stone Cold Steve Austin & Vince McMahon.
SuperJerk replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm with Vince on this one. The only movie I've seen of the Rock's was "Scorpion King", and it sucked. -
BBQ jokes? Or masturbation. Or masturbation with BBQ sauce.

Making the title the centerpiece of a feud is gratifying if you think of it as a reward for a wrestler who has done a good job, but at the same time its also a crutch for writers who can't give anyone anything else interesting to do. Part of what frustrates me so much about Triple H is that he's only had one program in 3 years that wasn't about a title (the feud with HBK in the summer of 2002). I'll admit it bothers me a little bit because I see it as someone not being allowed to live up to their potential. Its hard to get over and entertain the fans when all your allowed to do is sell for 5 minutes, get in some token offense, then get pinned.
-
Yes. And my point is that they didn't need a bunch of titles to do it.
