Last year someone used our building email to spread the old "Oliver North/Al Gore/Osama bin Laden" myth. I did an all-building reply with a hyperlink to the Snopes page that debunked it, and the guy later apologized. I don't know that myth. Could you link to it here? http://snopes.com/rumors/north.asp

Women died from over consumption of water
SuperJerk replied to milliondollarchamp's topic in Current Events
Yeah, well I didn't not know that it was not possible to not know you could die from drinking too much water! Hah. -
Yeah, he's the most endearing stalker since Benjamin Braddock.

Helo being a Cylon would be both a mind-fuck and make a lot of sense (except for the whole Helo and Sharon having a hybrid baby together angle).

They really crossed the line with the Danny Trip character in that last scene last night. The whole FCC subplot seems pretty far-fetched as well.
-
Yeah, I agree.

I never said that he was. I was only noting what I'd heard. I honestly don't know who the most successful solo Beatle was (my guess would be Paul). But for Incandenza to say he had "the least commercially and critically popular solo catalog" discounts how popular his early solo work was, and also how you define "solo" since a great deal of Paul McCartney's later success was when he TECHNICALLY wasn't solo (i.e. songs released by Wings or when he was collaborating with Michael Jackson).

"Saving my money, dreaming of glory, twitching like a finger on the trigger of a gun...leaving nothing but the dead and dying back in my little town." Good stuff.

I'd wager Dean's substantially more popular within the party than Kerry at the moment. I backed Kerry because I thought he was something he wasn't. I think Dean wouldn't have done as well in the general election (given the mindset of the country in 2004 and Bush's 51% job approval rating at the time), and I still wish Kerry would have won, but Dean was ultimately proven to be correct. I can't help but wonder how Edwards cozying up to Kerry and scorn for Dean will impact the 2008 race. I'll save the rest of my thoughts on this for the 2008 thread.

I don't think Howard was on very good terms with the press, either. I was a John Kerry supporter from day 1, so I was glad Dean was out there sticking his foot in his mouth so my guy would look good by comparison.

The scream incident happened after he'd already lost the Iowa Caucus and was already slipping in the polls in NH.

The main point of difference between Libertarians and the Green Party is the amount of government regulation they deem necessary. Both parties tend to answer every question with the same answer, either more (Green) or less (Libertarian) government regulation.

They were talking about Romney on "Hardball" the other day and Chris Matthews kept going on and on about how Romney looked like a president. One of the reasons I like our current primary/caucus system is that candidates are forced to interact with small groups of voters and the hype becomes less important.

I knew Animal Man couldn't really be dead.

Hopefully now people see where I was going with this.

McCain on today's "Meet the Press" What struck me as oddest is this whole song and dance he's doing about the war. McCain's strategy seems to be "suggest something, then disavow it when it actually happens." He's been one of the biggest cheerleaders for this war, but now he's trying to act like he had nothing to do with its failure. He's trying to have it both ways. I think a draft Chuck Hagel movement will gain momentum in the next few months. Article comparing and contrasting John McCain with Chuck Hagel.

The only person on that list I'd consider to have star power is Guiliani. Romney and Huckabee have real potential. After this morning's episode of "Meet the Press," I'm not at all worried about McCain.

Since the season started, they seem to be doing everything in their power to make almost every character as despicable as possible. That might be why the rating have dropped so badly since the premiere.

The only movies I've seen him in were Crash and Mr. Holland's Opus. Since I didn't eve realize those two parts were the same guy (though the movies came out a decade apart), I'll assume he's a good actor and take your word for it that he'll be great in Iron Man.

I love how "if u dont like me u r racist" is a valued asset. That's not what I meant. A better choice of words would have been that his campaign can dismiss any claim that he's not "electable" as pandering to racists. Unless someone wants to argue that he can't get elected becauses he's overweight.
