Thos shows arent stretched. A lot of tv shows pre late 80's were shot on 35 mm film which has a wider picture that was then cut down for 4:3. Universal HD takes that wider than 4:3 shot, trims off the top and bottom a bit and it provides a 16:9 picture with more picture on the sides than the 4:3 version but less on the top and bottom. Not only that, but I even think they went back to the original film stock and converted them to HD video. No converting necessary. 35 MM film has way more than HD resolution. Do you REALLY want to keep correcting me even though all you're doing is saying the exact same thing but using different words?

Since this was the de facto "OAO Dick in a Box" thread, I'll post my thoughts on this here. PEOPLE NEED TO STOP MAKING "DICK IN A BOX" PARODIES. They suck. All of them. Essentialy all they do is change one damn word from "dick" to some other body part. You can't make a parody of a parody and expect it to be even 1/10th as funny, so please stop trying. Jeez.

I'll transfer to another school and get into even more trouble over there.

To be fair, I think a lot of his posts are intended to be ironic. That's how I rationalized it, anyways.

I'll say it again... (And this isn't a comment on which format is superior, simply an observation of how the pubic thinks.) Most people already know what "HD-DVD" is because they're already familiar with both "HD" and "DVD". With blu-ray, you have to explain what it is to them. That's a huge disadvantage.

Ray Palmer wouldn't be able to do all the other stuff Supernova can do, necessarily. They've only thrown out about a dozen red herrings since this story started. "52" is turning out to be perhaps one of my favorite series of all time. DC should consider doing a monthly anthology book that follows minor heroes similar to this when the series ends. They could call it "12".

Are we suppoed to feel sorry for Rice because she's a woman? She's the damn Secretary of State. She's supposed to be able to stand up to Vladimir Putin and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for fuck's sake.

Whoo-hoo!!! New equipment charges!!!!

This thread sure got bumped out of no where. Having said that, my favorites are "Battle of Who Could Care Less," "Army," and "Underground." If I never hear "Brick" again it'll be too soon.

Trying to get the joke....nope, didn't get it.

Did Jason Lee get him hooked on it?

The only post-Beatles stuff of McCartney's I liked were his stuff with Wings (yes, there were other people in the band besides him) and his duets with Michael Jackson. I've always heard Ringo had the most successful post-Beatles career. I'm a pretty big fan of George Harrison's stuff from the 80s, though.

Speaking of "TNT Stretch-O-Vision" That reminds me...anybody ever watched Knight Rider or Quantum Leap on Universal HD? They must have actually gone back to the original film prints of those shows and converted them. They're 16:9 and they look fantastic.

Im salivating now as we speak..A few of these I really dont understand (Weather Channel, Cartoon Network?). I think the part about the 70 networks is them being intentionally misleading. I don't think its saying all of those networks will be in HD, just that DirecTV has "currently has signed agreements, or agreements in principle" with them. There was no mention of HD in that sentence. I'm glad they're finally living up to their promise of more HD channels, but I'm not looking forward to the rate hike I'm sure they'll subject us to.

The Libertarians may talk a good game when it comes to defending civil liberties, but they are also the party of unregulated capitalism and removing anything resembling a social safety net.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/11/dod...t.ap/index.html I've seen Dodd speak, and he has that self-confident articulate quality necessary for a national candidate, but a 32 year Congressional record is a fairly easy thing to pillage for votes to use against him in attack ads.

Durbin outranks probably anyone who has a problem with him within the party.

They made it seem like Question died as well, and he's still alive and kicking.

I don't get that...the X-Men aren't known for backing down from a fight. Surely they'd have to realize that if the government had no problem throwing popular heroes like Capt. America into prison, they'd have no problems solving the mutant problem the same way. There's no reason the Registration Act couldn't be used against mutants.

Hardball was running how several candidate was reacting to Bush sending more troops at the bottom of the screen, with Guiliani and Romney supporting Bush while Brownback opposed sending more troops. And John Edwards called the plan the "McCain Doctrine."

It would make sense since the last episode of Night Court had Dan moving to D.C. to follow Congresswoman Christine Sullivan.

Iron Man teaming up with villians against his friends just doesn't make sense period. As far as Storm goes, the rest of the X-Men staying nuetral doesn't really make sense either. Still, this issue kicked all kinds of ass purely on a roller-coastery "Oh no they didn't!" level.

That's what I said early on, but I didn't see anything this week that confirmed that suspicion.
