The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

Jasmin and her soon to be husband, Matt Wicklund: There are some things you just can't make up in this world, and this is one of them. Apparently Jasmin was at the Rock Fantasy Store in Middletown, NY two days ago. Too bad this didn't happen last week, as I definitely would've enjoyed going there and giving her a piece of my mind in person.

The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

Her: Hi, you can go fuck yourself. Do you think I am as stupid as the wrestlers you have interviewed? You need to get a life,or a girlfriend(Hint:posting on messageboards & talking about people you don't even know is not he best way to get laid). Getting a girlfrined is out fo the question since there are not many women who would want to do that type of charity work. You hardly know me & have talked about me. Never contact me again. Me: WOW, you really are as much of a bitch as people make you out to be. I've talked about you? I haven't said anything about you that isn't true on any message boards. I've given you a shitload of free publicity on web sites and message boards I write articles for. I have no idea why you're blowing up at me, but I guess that explains why everybody I've spoken to talks bad about you, even while putting over Brian as a great guy. "You hardly know me" Yeah, I know that you sabotaged a guys marriage and caused him to lose his house and that you cost people tons of bookings by blackballing them from other organizations. I tried to give you a chance to comment on a controversy involving you, but if you're just going to be the bitch that everyone makes you out to be, then there's nothing I can do to change how you're portrayed on the almighty Internet. By the way, I'm glad you supposedly know who I am when I've never met or talked to you. And honey, you're the last person to tell anybody to go fuck themself... Have a good day, Ms. Rhea Alexandria Devlugt. Don't let the bed bugs bite tonight. :::wink:::

The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

Jasmin has refused comment about XPW. She gave me a "fuck you" reply, LOL. Like Ms. Rhea Alexandria Devlugt should be the one telling anybody to go fuck themselves. My e-mail exchange with her is actually pretty funny stuff.

The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

Jasmin St. Claire has been contacted to contribute comments about the ECW/Extreme Associates negotiations, her initial impressions of XPW, her thoughts on working with Big Dick Dudley, her very serious accusations she's made in the past toward Damien Steele and the legit heat between them that ended in Steele's marriage ending, and why she left XPW and Extreme Associates. I'll post once I get an answer from her. Also, I will be interviewing Larry Rivera tomorrow evening, so if you have questions for him, get them in ASAP!

Do you like WWE.com's new approach?

I'll tell you one thing - I find myself checking out WWE.com once every three or four days now, whereas I visited it about once or twice a year previously. So the new approach is definitely somewhat successful in gaining new visitors. Is it making me order the PPVs? No. But I am visiting the site more to see what's being printed, that's for sure.
  10. DVD Review: 101 Reasons Not to be a Pro Wrestler Web site: HollymoodEntertainment.com produced by Michael Moody & Hollymood Entertainment Review by LucharesuFan619 on Thursday, June 30, 2005 I found this DVD very fun to watch overall. The main feature is three hours long and the bonus features run another two hours long. The film was almost entirely documentary style, featuring interviews with various wrestlers; there was only one instance where actual in-ring footage was shown, and that was a full match, which I’ll get into later. There are enough interviewees so that the producers were able to splice in a diverse range of personalities, so you never go from one person to another, back to the original, back to the second person, back to the original, etc. The people who were interviewed are Rikishi, Psychosis, Joanie Lauer (a.k.a. Chyna), Diamond Dallas Page, New Jack, Vampiro, Sean O’Haire (just days after being let go by WWE), Konnan, Major Gunns, Nosawa, Predator/Sylvester Turkay, and Babi Slymm. I found there to be a good mix of seriousness and humor in the film. Babi Slymm - an up-and-coming wrestler in Southern California - comes off really funny and is a bigger part of the DVD than you’d expect, and that’s a good thing because his “gangsta” style a brilliant counterpart to New Jack’s similar - yet brasher - humor. Rikishi, Diamond Dallas Page, and even Vampiro are very down to earth when being interviewed. Even though most people haven’t heard of him, Predator is very well-spoken and he and Sean O’Haire offer first-hand knowledge when comparing pro wrestling with mixed martial arts. O’Haire is otherwise somewhat reserved about some questions, as he refuses to go on record about his thoughts on Vince McMahon, politics in WWE, or drugs in wrestling. However, O’Haire does have interesting comments about how he got into WCW, saying that it was the right time and the right place. Lastly, O’Haire goes into detail about his side of the story that he beat up two women at a bar a few months ago, saying that it was nothing like the media portrayed it. Joanie Lauer, on the other hand, well, she comes off weird, but you know that already if you’ve seen her on Howard Stern anytime recently. She’s honest and candid about her relationship with Triple H, her relationship with Sean Waltman, her feelings on Stephanie and Vince McMahon, Playboy, and how she had to adjust to the male-dominated WWF locker room, but she was drinking and smoking during the interview and clearly her mind was elsewhere at some points. DDP’s “Positively Page” character is reflected in the film in that he’s really optimistic when talking about the different subjects that were brought up - he takes the high road when asked about Ric Flair’s comments about him in his book and says that although Flair didn’t think that he could ever be a star and even though that judgment was wrong, he considers Flair to be one of the greatest wrestlers ever and highly respects him. DDP also takes full responsibility for his lackluster run in WWE, even though it was really not his fault at all. DDP also tells a funny story about how he got into the business, specifically his audition with AWA. Rikishi talks about his family’s background in the wrestling business and also comes off as very optimistic, saying that while he’s not with WWE anymore, he is thankful to have had such a great job there for almost 15 years. Rikishi also comes off very passionate about life in general when talking about how celebrity status has affected him, his opinion on his heel turn in 2000, and the story he tells about when he was shot in the chest during a drive-by shooting will definitely keep on the edge of your seat. Rikishi also tells a funny “stink face” story when asked about his favorite ribs. However, although Konnan, Psychosis, and DDP have no problem letting the camera stay in the locker room while they’re planning their matches (Konnan and Psychosis wrestled Ricky Reyes & Puma and DDP wrestled Babi Slymm), Rikishi asks the cameraman to leave the locker room when it’s time for him to go over the finish of his match with his opponents. If you’ve seen Vampiro’s shoot interview with Highspots, you know that he’s very candid about any subject that people bring up for him, and his role in this DVD is no exception. Vampiro really made me leave his segments internalizing just how corrupt the wrestling business is, as he talks about egos, drugs in WCW, unions, and more. Vampiro also comes off as pretty funny by cracking jokes with people off camera, but perhaps most interestingly, during the commercial shoot, he comes off as a very caring individual, as his main concern is protecting New Jack’s safety in a stunt they have to perform, which isn’t what you’d expect from a straight-shooting guy like Vampiro. Konnan has a very unique perspective on every subject he discusses. As a prime example, when he’s asked about where he sees the wrestling business in five years, he actually predicts a lucha libre revolution on an international scale and gives some great insight to back up that vision. I would’ve liked to have seen him go into the politics in WCW more than he did because in other interviews I’ve heard him do, he’s told some really shocking stories about just how corrupt WCW booking was. Konnan is really candid about TNA and admits that while there are politics in that company just like any other company, and he also has some interesting answers to the question of what else he would like to accomplish in the wrestling business. Psychosis and Nosawa’s English skills aren’t great, and Nosawa is really hard to understand, although he does a good job of using body language to convey his points. He also makes a really hilarious introduction of himself. Nosawa really isn’t featured much at all, as he talks about his thoughts on backyard wrestling and that’s about it. Psychosis comes off as really down to earth and humble. Even though he doesn’t speak English too well, he repeats what he says a few times and eventually you understand him. He compares American fans with Lucha Libre fans, talks about his mask, and also explains how in ECW, wrestlers were encouraged to go all-out, while in WCW the luchadores were told to hold back some. For some of his appearance, Psychosis is wearing his mask and other times he’s not wearing it. Major Gunns is getting her hair done while she does her interview, which she talks a lot about how women were treated by WCW. She says that drugs are justified in some situations, gives some stories about training with the other divas (Madusa, Paisley, Stacy Keibler, etc.) and tells an interesting story about a confrontation she had with Goldberg backstage in WCW. Plus, she’s really hot to just stare at. And New Jack, well, New Jack is New Jack. If you know New Jack, you know what to expect, well, actually, you don’t know what to expect because you can never predict what New Jack will say or do. Just seeing how he responds to certain questions and what offhand comments he makes is fun to watch. Most of his interview takes place in a bar, anyway, so he’s drinking, and New Jack + booze = funny jokes and a whole lot more. New Jack talks about tons of stuff: drugs in wrestling, politics, ring rats, unions, etc. He tells a hilarious story (part of which is featured in the trailers on HollymoodEntertainment.com, and part of which is not featured in the trailers) about one ring rat he got pregnant and his reaction to an e-mail he later got from her telling him that he was the father. We also follow New Jack walking up Hollywood Boulevard as he hits a (in a way only New Jack can) on a middle-aged hotel clerk. Plus, there’s footage of New Jack arguing (albeit pretty politely) on his cell phone with a promoter who had booked him for a show, and then took him off the card without telling him and now didn’t want to pay him for preventing him from taking another booking the same day. Other footage includes New Jack, Vampiro, Major Gunns, and the Insane Clown Posse filming a commercial for the video game, Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes the Neighborhood. This segment was one of the highlights of the DVD for me. New Jack gets really pissed at one point when there’s trouble with the filming, and he almost starts ripping into Vampiro verbally before calming himself down. This segment is especially interesting because you get to see New Jack at his most crude (when he talks about how big his nuts are), at his most low key (when he tries to walk off a an ankle-twist he suffers during the filming and refuses to talk to the cameraman, and actually looks like he’s about to cry at one point), and at his most angry (when they’re having trouble setting up the stunt involving himself and Vampiro). Perhaps best of all, though, included is the full, uncensored match between New Jack and the 70+ years old Gypsy Joe. This almost becomes Mass Transit #2, as the two start to legitimately shoot on one another and New Jack throws legit knee smashes, punches, forearms, and even whacks him with a chain and a metal baseball bat wrapped in barbed-wire (which he swings HARD). More than anything, I found it interesting to just watch how the match progressed from the two not wanting to cooperate with each other in the ring, to them seeing how hard they could chop and strike each other, to it becoming a real fight (albeit one-sided), with the fans backing up and trying to keep their distance from New Jack. You can see a parent picking up her kid and leaving the building as the action starts getting rough, but there are other kids who look to be as young as 3 and 4 in the audience that remain there the entire match. As Jack is about to leave the ring area, a fan shouts that he’s a “f*ckin n***er” and gets a really profanity-laced reply from New Jack, before the segment cuts out and the interview format returns. This is seriously worth a substantial part of the DVD’s price alone. The tape of the match is REALLY hard to find as it is, *let alone* in this kind of quality. The main criticism that I had about this DVD was that it got really annoying at times because a good 30 minutes or so of the bonus features is stuff that actually was already in the main feature (the documentary itself), so I had to fast-forward through those parts. The menus to jump from feature to feature were also somewhat confusing to follow. Also, the producers could’ve designed a better flow for the DVD. Granted, the DVD is separated into chapters (i.e. Politics in Wrestling, Traveling, Drugs in Wrestling, Wrestling and MMA, etc. It would’ve just helped if there was a little bit better flow to the documentary. I also would’ve liked to have heard New Jack talk about the match with Gypsy Joe, being that he’s never once asked about it by the interviewer. Other than that, I really enjoyed this DVD. I’d put it on the same level as Ultimate Insiders with Vince Russo & Ed Ferrera. This is definitely a DVD worth checking out if you’re a New Jack fan, if you’re into seeing how a match is planned, or if you want to hear comments from the wrestlers about how the wrestling business has changed since WWE absorbed WCW and ECW. All of the interviewees - with the exception of Psychosis and Nosawa - get a very sufficient amount of interview time for their personalities to come across, and actually even with Psychosis and Nosawa (who only appear a limited number of times), their personalities come across pretty well, too, considering that neither was interviewed for more than 10 minutes (and in Nosawa’s case, like three minutes). Psychosis comes off as a very dedicated - yet humble - wrestler, while Nosawa comes off as a “happy-go-lucky” type of guy. I have new (even better than my previous) views of Vampiro, Rikishi, and DDP after viewing this, and I left with very good impressions of two other people (Predator and Babi Slymm) who I had heard of, but didn’t know much about. Also, if you’re into Joanie Lauer (I can’t imagine why you would be, but that’s not my business), this DVD is worth checking out, too. And for New Jack fans, it doesn’t get much better than this - New Jack rambles about blading, doing drugs, masturbating with himself, and hookers; he pretends to take a sh*t in public; he shoots the shit with the Hollywood Boulevard hotel clerk and quizzes her about what ”187” means (LOL); and so much more. Plus, you get the very entertaining New Jack vs. Gypsy Joe match. The “101 Reasons not to be a Pro Wrestler” DVD is available at HollymoodEntertainment.com. The web site also includes trailers with clips from the DVD, a photo gallery featuring screen shots from the DVD, a fan forum to discuss and ask the producer questions about the movie, and more. The DVD will not be sold in stores, so you must buy it online if you wish to see it. Also, if you would are a producer of pro wrestling videos or DVDs and would like me to review your merchandise on DOI and many other web sites and message boards across the Internet, you may contact me at [email protected].

The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

The Story of Xtreme Pro Wrestling (part 5): The ECW/Extreme Associates cross-promotion sours posted by LucharesuFan619 on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 However much Rob Black hoped for them to succeed, the negotiations between himself and ECW were arguably doomed from the very start. Although the falling-out between the two parties happened quite suddenly – one day, Paul Heyman stopped taking Black’s calls – the situation was actually quite a long time in the making. The relationship between the two companies was still healthy in late March 1999. Then-Extreme Associates porn star Jasmin St. Claire made her ECW debut on Sunday, March 21, 1999 at the “Living Dangerously” Pay-Per-View from Asbury Park, NJ, and was accompanied on the trip by Rob Black, Tom Byron, and Lizzy Borden accompanied her on the trip. The four left California on Thursday night to fly to Asbury Park, attended some pre-Pay-Per-View parties on Friday night, and then Black and Byron sat in on Jasmine’s Saturday morning training session with Francine, who she was going to be working with the following night. Black, Byron, and Lizzy sat in the crowd for the event itself on Sunday night, although they didn’t appear on camera. Shortly after that Pay-Per-View, however, the relationship between Black and ECW gradually began to deteriorate. Paul Heyman worked extremely closely with Steve Karel, who was ECW’s business manager. Unbeknownst to many wrestling fans and journalists alike, Karel was thoroughly involved in the porn business for several years. Before joining ECW, Karel had helped fund porn films while working for CDI Home Video and had also been employed by Penthouse. At one point, Karel tried to sell the rights of a movie (which had featured St. Claire) that he had filmed to Extreme Associates, but when Black told him straight up that “this movie is a hunk of sh*t,” Karel took offense and their relationship soured. In an interview with ScoopsWrestling.com, Black had strong words for Karel: “He so desperately wanted to be in the porno business, but everything he did was just garbage. I was essentially everything Steve Karel wanted to be. I was the big pornographer, I was the one who owned the biggest company in the business, I was the one who was the player in the porno business and he wanted to be the player. And I shunned his stupid f*cking movie.” According to the Pro Wrestling Torch, PWInsider.com, and several other sources, Karel is still highly involved in the porn business. He is presently helping to fund the Women’s Extreme Wrestling federation, which frequently incorporates softcore porn into its product. He was even quoted in a January 7, 2005 Washington Post article about the resurgence of “peep shows” and the “skin business.” The article called Karel “an energetic PR representative for several adult bars” in New York, including - but not limited to - the Hustler Club at 51st Street and 12th Avenue in New York City. Despite his background and his continued involvement in the porn industry, Karel remained a close personal confidant of Paul Heyman long after the negotiations between Extreme Associates and ECW ended. Heyman was in daily contact with Karel right up until the day that he signed with WWE. The potential working relationship between Extreme Associates and ECW met its nail in the coffin when ECW began discussing the possibility of penning a television deal for ECW with The National Network (TNN). Realizing that the odds of an agreement being secured with TNN would reduce substantially if the network discovered that ECW was doing business with a porn company, Heyman cut all ties with Black and Extreme Associates. According to those people who were close to the situation, Black was furious upon learning of the sudden decision and realizing that ECW executives (including Heyman) would no longer take his calls. However, Mark Lamonica (a.k.a. Buh Buh Ray Dudley) was perhaps the most affected by ECW’s change of marketing policy because he – as opposed to Heyman, Karel, or somebody else from ECW’s “public relations” or legal department – was left to contact Black when he and his storyline brother, D-Von Dudley, began negotiating with the WWF in mid-1999 and he became concerned that if the WWF learned of his depiction in Extreme Associate’s “Whack Attack 5” production, the contract that was in the works between the Dudley Boyz and the WWF may be reneged upon. In his ScoopsWrestling.com interview, Black described Lamonica as being “a pawn in the game” at that point in time because one day, he had to be the one to telephone Black and plead with him to cancel the publication of the film, only to be told that the film had already been released. Luckily for Lamonica, the cameo never turned into a problem, nor did it for Tommy Dreamer, who is also currently employed by the former-WWF, now WWE. Although it’s not known whether or not WWE management ever learned of the footage, its release certainly didn’t derail Lamonica’s success in WWF. However, unlike that of Lamonica (who Black maintains occasional contact with to this day), Rob Black’s future in pro wrestling wasn’t as clear-cut. His deal with ECW had gone down the drain and now he was left to decide whether he truly wanted to embark on a wrestling-related endeavor, and if so, how he would go about doing so. EDITOR’S NOTE: I was unsuccessful in my attempts to contact Steve Karel to get his side of the story about the negotiations between ECW and Extreme Associates. For those who have been asking, I would also like to offer a tentative schedule outlining the next few chapters in this ongoing retrospective. Number 1 indicates the next part to be released, number 2 the one after that, etc. 1. Introducing Verne Langdon and the Slammers Wrestling Federation (1989) 2. How Slammers broke many future-XPW stars into the business (1989-1996) 3. The dWo (Dynamite World Order) shoot incident/Breaking away from Slammers (1996) 4. XPW Precursors on the indy scene: Southern California Championship Wrestling, United Independent Wrestling Alliance, and the Impact Wrestling Federation (1997-1999) 5. The seeds of XPW come into place - Kleinrock meets Black, Big Dick Dudley and Tito Ortiz (yes, you read right) get involved, etc. (mid-1999) 6. The First XPW Show - planning, advertising, heat with the UIWA, etc. (July 31, 1999) Following these topics, there will be articles about XPW’s problems with certain venues and athletic commissions, the XPW TV negotiations, the working relationship with Nicole Bass, Jasmine St. Claire’s departure from Extreme Associates, negotiations with Antonio Inoki’s UFO, etc. For more information, e-mail [email protected]. Any feedback is welcomed.

My want, sale, and trade lists

I will trade these tapes, DVDs, and books for stuff on my want list or for custom comps (DVD preferred if possible, but VHS is OK, too). I'm mainly interested in indy wrestling custom comps or recent ROH/RF Video shoots for trades. PM me if you're interested in anything. If you want to do a custom comp trade, then PM me your tape/DVD list, too. If you want to do a regular trade, well, PM me your list, too, I guess. However, you’re going to get a MUCH better deal if you make me a custom comp (i.e. instead of having to give me a 3 or 4 hour master, all I'll ask for is a 1 or 2 hour custom comp with first generation stuff). In some cases, I'll even give you two tapes for one custom comp. So, I would prefer custom comps, as there's a lot of stuff I'm seeking that aren't on the same shows, but if there’s something on my want list that you have and you can't do custom comps, please PM me. Chris Candido career recordbook

Well, I was thinking about doing one long before he died. There's proof in that I already did one on Sabu's career and have over 500 of his matches listed in a Word document, and was contemplating starting one on Candido's about a month before he died (which is when I finished the Sabu one, which I still have yet to release for sale, but I probably will, and when I do, 100% of the proceeds will go towards funding an interview I'm trying to set up with Sabu for my XPW retrospective). That's also why I started collecting as many Candido shoot interview tapes as I could over the last half year, so that I would have as much background knowledge as I could of his career. Up until six months ago, I had 0 Candido shoots, now I have all three he's ever done (to my knowledge). After Sabu, my idea was to do one on Candido, and then I put that on the sideline for a little when he died, but I'm thinking maybe now is the best time to do it. Besides, I was already contemplating doing some kind of Candido-related project before he died that directly involved him. I talked to some of his friends and tried to set up an interview with him for my XPW retrospective and probably would've gotten one had he not died, as - according to the middlemen I was going through - he was willing to help out. Hopefully that helps you see where I'm coming from. Cuz to somehow imply that I'm trying to make a profit off of his death is way, way out there. Thanks for the feedback. When I say research, I mean RESEARCH. As in sit down for hours and go through old Observers I have, cawthon's results site, RF Video tape listings, and most importantly scrounge through the old RSPW.org archives (more than a million posts) dating from 1991 to today. May not be money, but a heck of a lot of time would be involved. The college reference was my way of anticipating concerns that I was absolutely sure would've been brought up. I do hope the XPW thing will be released in book form once it's done. Also, part 5 will be posted within the next couple days, it's just about done. Thanks for the interest in that.

    Chris Candido career recordbook

I think we've all kinda been touched by Chris Candido's sudden death in April. He had really turned his life around and the last two years of his life were perhaps the most inspirational comeback of any wrestler in history. I myself was stunned upon reading the news, especially because he had just overcame so much and now he died from a leg injury. So, I'm thinking about making a Chris Candido career recordbook with 75% of the proceeds would go to the Chris Candido Scholarship Fund. To clarify and to anticipate what's sure to be a question - Some of you will obviously ask why not 100% - well, I'm a full-time student and I need to pay for college, and this would take me a good two months worth of research, so I want to get *something* out of it for myself. I'm not like one of those promoters that runs a show every month and it's not real easy to make the boys work free for a one night tribute show, I don't have the time resources, but I can guarantee 75% of the income would go to his scholarship fund. It'd be only $3 or $4 shipped for about 15-20 pages, maybe a little more, about Candido's career. Included would be the results of every single match he's ever been in during his entire 19-year career, including promotion, location, and finish (pinfall, count out, DQ, etc.). We're talking 500+ matches from ECW, WCW, WWF, Japan, and no-name indy feds across the country, against his most well-known opponents like Shane Douglas and against guys you had no clue he ever worked. Included also would be exclusive testimonials from those who he's wrestled. I am already in contact with Simon Diamond, CW Anderson, Low Ki, Alex Shelley, and a couple others so they would definitely all contribute, along with others who I'd contact. Furthermore, there would also be tons of hilarious rib stories that I would include that Candido has told in his many different shoot interviews (all of which I have). From riding with Tracy Smothers to the time when Candido was almost arrested for supposedly robbing a bank, I'd be sure to cover it all. I'm trying to gage whether or not there'd be enough people if interested in buying this if I were to make it, and am hoping I can get at least 4 or 5 people on this board who are interested. Just drop a line in this thread if you would be interested in buying this if I did it, or PM me. You can also PM me with any questions. Thanks.

The OAO What's this move thread

Who the fuck ever did that move? You'd have to be psychotic to take a move like that. A Vertaebreaker is dangerous enough, notwithstanding a fucking double stomp...

    New wrestling documentary

I have a friend who works at Hollymood Entertainment (who produced the recently released 101 Reasons Not to be a Pro Wrestler) and they're doing a new wrestlling documentary for DVD later this year. It will feature interviews with wrestler different than those featured in 101 Reasons. I'm told it's going to have more of a documentary-type feel as opposed to a shoot interview-type feel (like 101 Reasons). As far as 101 Reasons Not to be a Pro Wrestler, that was released this past week and is available at HollymoodEntertainment.com. There are trailers for the film at http://www.hollymoodentertainment.com/trailer.htm and you can order the DVD at the site, and it will be shipped to you later this week. I'll keep people posted if I find out anything else about the new documentary they're doing, I should have my copy of 101 Reasons in a few days and will post a review of it then.

What was your favorite moment from

Surprised nobody mentioned it in this thread, but my markout moment was at the end when Austin and Sandman raised their hands in victory as Joey shouted "ECW Liiiiiiiiiiives!"
