    CZW Truth or Consequences Review

You took the words right out of my mouth. Review Deja Vu II next. I'm ordering that next week and am looking for some reviews. Good review, BTW. I loved the match reviews and I like your style more so than Madden's. I must say, though...your ratings are quite high, man. REALLY high. It sounds as if Blade changed the SFJ from a submission to an actual move? Am I interpeting this right? I did have one qualm - Grim Reefer is NO "spot wrestler." You clearly haven't seen his other indy stuff. Check out the review of his best of tape at the DOI site. The guy can f*ckin GO. He holds the claim to fame of INVENTING the satellite headscissors takedown into the crossface (nobody - not even in Japan - used it before him), a move Jimmy Rave now uses on a regular basis.

Popular Obsessed w/ Wrestling web site is BACK!

I'm sending Brad more info every two or three days. I have enough info, in truth, to send him about 25 tidbits a day, but he told me not to mob him with emails like I once did, so I have to condense the additions. LOL. And feel free to email him any additions you have at [email protected]
  6. Although it's only been around for a few months, the popularity that ObsessedWithWrestling.com has garnered in it's short tenure online has been immense. Recently, webmaster Brad Dykens was forced to shut down the site due to financial issues and a lack of bandwidth, but the site has now been put back online and is - for the foreseeable future - going to remain online, thanks to a generous bandwidth offer from ClickWrestle.com. If you're interested, check out ObsessedWithWrestling.com for the Internet's most extensive archive of wrestler profiles available, along with loads of archived results, columns, interviews, wrestler photo galleries, and more.

    Nick Mondo Retires

I have the same reaction I had a year ago when Wifebeater retired...the guy deserves credit. Granted, he doesn't have much of a legacy out of the hardcore side of indy wrestling. He's no technical great or anything like that, but like Wifebeater, he put *everything* he had into CZW and that's something the guy deserves commendation for. It's unfortunate that he's retiring after so short a career, but at the same time, unlike a lot of other indy guys who only do wrestling as a side job, he - as he said in the above commentary - put everything he had into hardcore wrestling, mroe so than most other guys who wrestled the style. I talked to him a select few times and he was a straight up guy on an indy circuit that's otherwise filled with lies and the sort, something he deserves quite some credit for.

Vince Russo shoots w/ Rob Feinstein

ROH/RF Video owner Rob Feinstein conducted a shoot interview with none other than VINCE RUSSO yesterday in Atlanta, GA. The tape of the interview will be available from RF Video (RFVideo.com) next week. This is what Feinstein had to say on the ROH message board: "I had the pleasure to sit down one on one with Vince Russo yesterday in Atlanta GA and I had the opportunity to discuss the many topics that everyone wanted to know about. You will here what he has to say to his critics that say he ruined wrestling in WCW. The entire WWE story: how he got started there, the road to making Raw and WWE good again, politics backstage, his relationship with Vince and Linda, why he quit WWE, what his meetings were like with Vince and Jim Cornette, WCW politics, Ric Flair, Hogan, His booking philosphy, why he put the title on David Arquette. He talks open for the first time why he booked hot shot angles and short matches in WCW. There is so many WCW stories on why he did things there that this is a must see shoot. What is was like working with The Rock, Cactus Jack, HBK, Hall, Nash, Bischoff and many more. I ask him all the questions that you would want to know. Like why did he have Juvi and Liger do the match with the bottle. Why turn Goldberg Heel, Why did he shave Flairs hair and not Jarrett. What happened the night he quit the WWE and how did Vince react.....This is a loaded shoot and will be ready to order next week!!!!"

    Ring Of Honor

I may be wrong, but I don't think ACid has worked JAPW for awhile, and if he has it was only one and two time deals. The only time he worked regularly was last century, as wierd as that may seem (like 97-99, maybe some of 00)...but there's no doubt that he wouldn't be where he is without JAPW's owner, Frank Iadevia (sp?), since he was booking Acid when nobody else gave hiim the time of day, back when he was still in friggin' high school.

    Bane & Seven from OVW

In Seven's case, his parents. Kevin Fertig is Seven's real name. Same with Tomko, as I believe Tomko is Bane's real last name. Man, if the WWE is calling up players from the Hoss Minor Leagues, the least they could do is make them somewhat interesting... but then again, we know about WWE logic That it is, I believe.

NHB East Coast Indy Wrestling Update #15

Well, the column is indy-related, so I think it is relevant enough to be posted on a weekly basis, but if Devin/Ace prefer, I'll post the column, rather than a link. By posting the link, I've been doing my job as a writer there in promoting the site, but although you 2 seem quite ignorant to mine, I understand your prespectives and I'll take Ace's offensively worded advice and oblige (albeit w/ out an offensively worded response, b/c that's just not me).

    Ring Of Honor

The fact that you did use "RF Video shoot video stuff for [your] premuim section" does in fact have something to do with your coverage of ROH. Granted, it does have little to do, but the former existence of such an agreement can not be said about CZW. Therefore, ROH DID in fact have SOME type of advantage when it comes to coverage on your site that CZW did not have. You did not offer CZW video "stuff" in your premium section, when in fact you did with RF Video "stuff" - "stuff" which gained RF Video (and therefore ROH) promotion (however small or large it may be, and before you continue badgering me, let me add that likely, I'd tend to lean toward smaller rather than larger [but it was existent, nonetheless]). Although its no secret that Im not too fond of you, I'm alright with having you "elaborate on [your] earlier post." Nonetheless, you "[elaborated]" a bit too late since your choice of diction remains unalterable, which allowed me to quote much of what you said. I believe Magee cited those 2 as being who you tried to hook CZW up w/ for the 5/10 show. Whether or not they are in fact the 2, I dont know, but my reference to them was still warranted, since Magee is generally considered a reliable source, and therefore if they weren't the 2, it'd be through no fault of mine. ...and I think I speak for a lot when I say...Dames, where's the TNA diatribe?! It's Sunday night?! Finish the beers and get going, lol!

I can't wait to see a clip of that spot...Damn, yo... And BTW...is the IWA Ken Anderson the same one who worked some WWE dark matches/house shows under the same name, or was that another guy? Its just wierd thinking a guy from IWA (considering their rep w/ Cornette) would work for WWE, but a guy w/ that name did not too long ago.

    Ring Of Honor

You guys had some type of deal going with the Lance Storm-RF shoot awhile back. I did not mean to say that you currently have a relationship, b/c I'm pretty sure that you don't, but at a time, there were some light agreements, and not too long ago, either. Zandig mentioned that you guys have a relationship of some sort with ROH. "The more 1Wrestling.com covers, the more content we have for the site, and the more content we have, the larger our return readership is. I don't see how hard it is to figure that one out but for some reason, with you, it is." Ummm...I have no trouble figuring that you...and I didn't need you to fill me in on it, considering that that's nothing more than common sense. "When I attend a show, or someone else from the site does, I write a review. When we receive press releases or information, they are either run on the site or incorporated into columns. When a promotion has something newsworthy going on, they will get a story on the Newsline. Within the last 2 weeks, I have written newslines and reviews on ROH, JAPW, CZW, and River City Wrestling in Texas. We had two detailed reports on the IWA Mid-South shows this weekend. I've covered USA Pro, ICW, QWA, MLW and lord knows how many other promotions in the past as well. That's not even taking into account the coverage Jess McGrath does on the independent circuit." DERRR...More common sense. Again, stop spewing this basic logic. This board has it's reputation as one of the most intelligent boards on the net for a reason. "Don't blame people for what is and has always been CZW's biggest flaw, it's lack of organization." I took the info about Corino/Tanaka from Magee's column. If he portrayed the situation inaccurately, that's his fault, not mine.

Vince Russo shoots w/ Rob Feinstein

Gabe supplies me w/ ROH tapes and he tells me when he sends them. I never get them more than five days after he sends, and often I get them in 4. That's good, not bad.

    Ring Of Honor

I wholeheartedly agree. I wouldnt say a monopoly, but I think its getting very unfair coverage. They have agreements with Internet sites (1W, for example) that gets them extra coverage, yet CZW is still struggling with gaining sufficient web coverage. ROHs able to bring in big-names after a year in existence that promotions like CZW, IWA-MS, etc. aren't able to lure after 5 or even more years. The coverage they get on the Internet is IMMENSE, compared to other indy's which I don't think is fair. I was talking to Zandig (of CZW) one time on the phone and he said something like: "What sucks is that Rob and Gabe are getting this damn exposure on AMC, in local newspapers, on 1bob, and even in Japan after being around for a little more than a year (I had this convo a few days after the Jeff Hardy ROH failure match), yet were (CZW) nearing 5 years and the most publicity weve got is some bullshit feature on AMW and another local newscast, along with some BJPW stuff years ago." I think that says it best. That's not to say I hold Rob and Gabe accountable. If they can get publicity, then kudos to them b/c they're getting publicity for the rest of indy wrestling, too, but it is kinda unfair. Regarding the big-name issue...Granted, CZW's had the chance to get big names before, but not many times. The only time was with Funk and yes, they did fuck themselves there by failing to pay him like they had agreed to, but who else has given CZW a chance. Corino made up an excuse. Heyman didn't call back (I wouldnt expect them to). Mikey and Balls no-showed after 1 appearance. Dreamer was the only guy that followed through. Meanwhile, ROH has had Abby, Corny, Jeff, Lynn, Cred, etc.

    TPI Results Thread

Here's results including the finishes, again thanks to the IWA-MS press release on its side... 1. MICKIE KNUCKLES def. RAIN with a northern lights suplex. 2. IAN ROTTEN def. "Barbaric Berzerker" JIMMY JACOBS (w/ Becky Bayless) with the Kentucky Roll. 3. "The Next" ALEX SHELLEY def. JONNY STORM with It Came From Japan. 4. DANNY DANIELS (w/ Jim Fannin) def. JIMMY RAVE with a jumping piledriver. 5. AJ STYLES def. JERRY LYNN with a three quarter nelson. 6. CHRIS HERO def. SONJAY DUTT with a jumping Hero's Welcome. 7. B-BOY def. NIGEL McGUINNESS with a shining wizard. 8. BRAD BRADLEY & RYAN BOZ def. "Spyder" NATE WEBB & JC BAILEY when Boz pinned Webb. Bradley had Webb in the Canadian backbreaker, and Boz came off the top rope with an elbow across Webb's chest, into a dominator by Boz, leading to the pinfall. 9. DANNY DANIELS (w/ Jim Fannin) def. AJ STYLES with a sitout tombstone piledriver. 10. "The Next" ALEX SHELLEY def. IAN ROTTEN via submission with the Border City Stretch. 11. CHRIS HERO def. B-BOY via submission with the Hangman's Clutch. 12. "Classic" COLT CABANA won a six way elimination match held under tag rules (only two men in the ring at a time). Order of elimination was "Anarchist" ARIK CANNON (w/ Allison Danger), "Kamikaze" KEN ANDERSON, M-DOGG 20, CHRIS SABIN, and finally MICHAEL SHANE. 13. DANNY DANIELS (w/ Jim Fannin) def. "The Next" ALEX SHELLEY and CHRIS HERO in a three way elimination match to retain the IWA World Heavyweight Championship, and become the 2003 Ted Petty Invitational winner. Before the match, Hero announced that he would put his Westside Xtreme Wrestling title on the line in the matchup. Daniels had put his IWA belt on the line in all of his previous tournament matches, and Hero challenged Daniels to put it on the line in the finals as well. Daniels agreed to do so. The first man eliminated from the match was Hero, when Shelley pinned Hero following Shellshock. As Shelley and Daniels then battled it out one on one, BJ WHITMER made his way to ringside. Seeing Whitmer potentially get involved in the contest, BECKY BAYLESS came to ringside to attempt to stop him from interfering in the bout. As Becky attempted to slap Whitmer across the face, Whitmer caught her, and set Bayless up for a piledriver on the floor, only to be cut off from doing so by JIMMY JACOBS. Meanwhile, inside the ring, Shelley had Daniels on his back, and was climbing to the top rope for a high flying maneuver. As Shelley ascended to the top turnbuckle, Jacobs had Whitmer backed up against the ringpost in the same corner as Shelley was. Jacobs came charging at Whitmer, who moved out of the way, causing Jacobs to collide with the ringpost, inadvertently taking Shelley's balance away from him on the top rope. Daniels then hit Shelley with a piledriver, followed by a second piledriver with Shelley's arms butterflied, and scored the pinfall. Quick questions: What's a Border City Stretch and "It Came From Japan?" "I think Ian working with both Jacobs AND Shelley gives them both "rub" and was smart. Plus, Ian is a ham and I'm sure he got some speech out of the deal!!! I don't believe ending a "Scientific" tourney with a bunch of interference is the smartest booking ever, as when I watched Les Thornton and Tony Charles, I don't remember a bunch of run-in's but hopefully it will build interest in whatever Ian's next show was, which I'm sure Ian tried to do." Shelley/Jacobs Best of 7 series begins in a few weeks, so there was no point of having them wrestle on this show.

NHB East Coast Indy Wrestling Update #15

This post at http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...=ST&f=2&t=44195 didn't simply post a link without trying to start any type of discussion? Stop being my biggest fan. Really, I'm flattered, but at the same time, there's no need to obsess over me when people do the same thing that you're bitching to me about. Hence, under your logic, most people on this board have at one time or another spammed. And it's not like I don't add intelligent discussion to the other threads on this board. I'm one of the most regular posters in this forum. On the other hand, it'd be much different if I just posted my indy column every week and never made any other posts. Face it, you simply don't like me and am holding me to different standards than you would to anyone else. The same goes for this dude... Do you want to start a flame war or something? B/c I'm pretty sure that Dames and the other mods have a rule about flame wars and how they're not appreciated. Of course, calling my column "shitty" isn't trying to start a flame war, right? Do something else w/ your time, peeps...get a girlfriend...play sports...get a job...and most importantly, get a life.
