A mini-rant on what pisses me off about SD.
Just call me Dan replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
Good God, the Orton bashing is pathetic. Randy Orton is no where near the legend of a Mr. Perfect or a Rock, but because you don't like the guy does not mean he's a "David Flair" so to speak. That's so irrational it's laughable. If you can't add shit to the topic but an unwarranted jab, BUTT out. Smackdown has its slew of problems that all pretty much come down to the booking. WWE booking nowadays seems to be so "on the fly" and people like JBL, Jordan, Suzuki, Reigns, and Jindrak all exemplify this. Why would Angle pick those two guys to be groomed for anything? Both have been wrestling for a fair amount of time at least and have done NOTHING. These guys are supposed to be percieved as main event type people, but never finished the grade below. Randy Orton is a prime example of this, in being selected by HHH to be in Evolution without anyone knowing shit about him or what he could do. Orton, IMO, did the best he possibly could with being handed way too much, and at about this time would have been ready for the main events. Instead, he is further advanced than he should be. History tells us that the Rocks and the Lesnars that become a cornerstone of the company at a young age will not hang around. How many title reigns can you have before you even turn 30 and still have that fire to do more? Anyway, Smackdown suffers BIG TIME from being taped. I think if the show were live, we might have that Raw type feel to the show, and, more importantly, the roster may produce more under that pressure. This topic comes up all the time, with the show looking like the minor leagues, etc. I've grown tired of the show as well, and if the booking persists, (Booker in a 20 minute match with OJ who has NO offense, each new title holder getting a month of buildup from midcard hell and thrown the title, and WCWesque angles and characters) I quit. -
Dude, the horse has been dead.

I'll try this one one more time and see if I'm not the only one who saw this. Around the time BBB was arriving in WCW to take out goldberg, he gets told off or kicked out of the building or something. I believe he is in the parking lot, and all the sudden he lets out a grunt because he's pissed about not being able to go in. the camera pans to the left to see Scott Hall point laugh and do a weak crotch chop RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM before proceeding to get thrown into a coke machine and have his ass kicked. What the hell he was doing there, I'll never know. Classic.

He needs to just do it like "The Artist" (Prince Iukea) did in WCW. Jump from the second rope and use the momentum to spike them with a DDT and not a spinning variation of it. Much easier to land.

Thanks, algrim, I was getting used to being back in mylittle niche of being no-sold. Gotta agree with Barron, when has Booker whined? The guy has been treated as a complete joke since the day after KOTR 2001. WWE totally screwed up by having WCW/ECW be automatically heels and thus booking them all as pussies. WWE then booked T as an imbecile who obviously had a low IQ. He then went on to his 1st Wrestlemania match over a shampoo feud. He went from the top guy of the Alliance crossover to meaningless mid card tagging (considering Bookdust got a 1 month reign and Goldust was depushed and canned) He's flopped from heel to face while having his ass handed to him in feuds with Rock (Couldn't beat him in a handicap match), Austin (supermarket, church), Undertaker (never had a chance), and Triple H (the racial angle in which he LOSES) He gets handed the IC title and has to use a face GM to keep getting him repeat shots in order to finally win. Gets traded to SD where he looks hot and makes a turn then proceeds to get squashed. The guy does not bitch. The guy does not try and counteract. He just does his job. Whiner? No. -

Guys, we are past the days of questioning who will be champ next. For the next few years, a few key guys will have the belt and ANYONE who gets the title is only keeping it warm for an Angle, HHH, etc title run. Bottom line. Booker getting the title is just as much a title win as Benoit, Eddie, etc. It would be a proud moment for the guy, as well as his few fans of this board. -

Totally agree here. I just feel like now that the WWE has had or now has nearly everyone from the days of the NNW, they just can't let these performers who have been over for so many years not get that run. I would have bet all I had Eddie would never ran with the title. I personally don't want so many guys like Rude, Hennig, Hall, Bulldog, etc. who didn't ever get that one reign to happen again. -
Oh, I knew that. Everyone's answers have much more worth than what I posted, and I hate nitpicking, but christ, this just SCREAMS Old School folder.

Why was there ever any question of which folder this should be in?

I think Booker may get the title just for a Survivor Series moment and hot shot it to someone else. WWE is in its "Make sure everyone who ever at some point deserved the belt gets a small run" mode so not to piss people off. Which begs the question: Can Mysterio ever pull off the impossible? -
I don't get the lack of love for JBL/Eddie from Judgment Day this year. One of the most well booked and bloodiest brawls ever. Eddie really looked like he hated Layfield. Sick and brutal. VERY fun to watch.

Gotta agree here. That show was in my area, and I attended it. I was expecting the usual rock owns his opponent on the mic promo, which was where they were headed unitil BOOM, Jericho just blows the roof off the place. Crowd was dead silent and for a good reason. Great promo.

Also remember: 2003 featured this many matches ranking from ***+ total all year, and READ THE THREAD TITLE. Does anyone knoe if Brock/Benoit from SD is available anywhere? I've only seen it once and REALLY want to see it again.
-
Here's what pisses me off about Brock/Eddie. Eddie does extensive work on the LEFT knee, yet puts the figure four on the WRONG FUCKING LEG like SO many performers do. If you work the left, pressure should be on the left knee, so the right ankle area would be over the left knee putting the pressure on. Instead, every worker applies the hold startinhg with the left leg, therefore putting the pressure on the RIGHT knee and working the wrong leg. HUGE pet peeve, and those of you who have applied and/or been in the figure four should be able to pick up on that.

I don't see how Benoit vs Orton on Raw where Benoit just does all signature moves and jobs to simple interference is better than Benoit vs Orton Summerslam where Benoit kills himself with some of the best bumping of his career and he and Orton go back and forth until a great finish from nowhere ends it just a bit early.

Don't you guys think he'll get the suit AFTER the battle with Obi-Wan because he gets fucked up so bad? -
If it's current, Deepdiscountdvd.com Old, try used or 3 part sellers on amazon.com

What a freaking awesome point, Ramsus. Another reason why you are easily one of my favorite posters on the board. I mean, how many times do we have to see the face get arrested? I don't know how much more I can take of the Vince vs Austin format on every fucking show. How about the heel gets arrested because he's a fucking bad ass and he can't do the things he does on TV? How about the WWE looking more legit by having clean wins and losses and matches written and performed more on the basis of a good match as a whole (start, jockeying for position, turning points, critical mistakes) than just a finish? That'll be the day.
-
Seriously, where does the guy go from here? He's heel. He's bitter because of lack of opportunity. You won't establish yourself as a heel chasing HHH for the title. Now what?
-
Although the WWE doesn't always acknowledge what happens at the UK events, you can't hide the fact that you can go out and buy Edge getting a title shot on DVD. Edge's promos and going on and on about how much of a travesty it is for him to not have been getting title shots makes little sense when you look at how long he has been on RAW and also been there without injury. His promos reach far back and he protests about his entire career. He should have had more than 2 or so, but he has had them.

The fink's mishap did actually happen, as The King makes a comment about it during the broadcast.

True, I guess I just feel bad for Jacobs. How much more of a company man can you be without getting a title run? -

All of this either completes a face turn or HTM was telling the truth.
