Are you joking? Austin walloped Kane with a chair and gave him a Stunner. Kane IMMIDIATELY sat up and chokeslammed austin, and Austin has NOT gotten any "heat" back from then. He did fine there. Sure, he didn't play up to being scared of Kane, but think about it. what the hell else could he do and put Kane down? You need shane for that.

I guess I'm the only one who is standing beside Austin wrestling the last match at XX. I think he can somewhat work one, and if he can just chill up until that point, that would be a big draw to help XX not bomb like the previous year. Why wouldn't they milk a match as Austin LAST EVER? Sure, they say that about 19, but VERY rarely. He's got ONE more left in him, and he putting over someone once more before either leaving the WWE or just being a Foley type.

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

Christ, Lesnar looks like Bob Backlund with elephantitus (sp?) to the head. -
If this is booked REALLY WELL it is salvageable, and fans may be able to rally behind Golberg like that again. I am just in awe of the aura he had tonight and it really could have been magic.
-
My Summerslam party was the exact opposite. We hate Goldberg and the hate grew more and more as he eliminated three guys in a row. Him breaking the glass to go after HHH was lame. Plexiglass my ass. Goldberg gets injured when he punches regular glass, imagine what plexiglass would have done to him. It came to a point where everyone was marking for HHH hardcore, and we all cheered and jumped up and down when Fuck Goldberg jobbed. He broke it with a hard kick and knocked a big chunk out of it. There were no real jagged edges everywhere and it didn't shatter into a million peices. It was pretty cool, IMO. Hate the guy or not, you have to be able to get into the emootion of things from time to time, and if you couldn't put aside your bias for one second, why even watch? I watch for moments like what that could have been.

I was SEVERELy pissed the 4 way was so short when it was going so well. The Bischoff/Shane was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE, but the Coach turn was off the wall and the Elbow Drop was great. Kane/RVD sucked balls. Really my only complaints other than those expresssed in the HHH going over thread. Really energetic and fun PPV.

Oh GOD Kurt finally got a HELL of a lot of credibility, and I am all for it. But seriously, Brock got OWNED.
-
That's ludicrous. Goldberg busts out new power moves all the time. What else would you have wanted to finish off 3 GUYS IN A ROW with? Un-over moves that people don't buy as finishers? It is all in the way that match was booked. He was in there MAYBE 5 minutes and went through 3 guys. What SHOULD he have done? Again, that is all because of how it was booked.
-
Well, at least he missed it, so it appeared that he was cost valuble time from the slip. there were a lot of things botched tonight. Two occasions AT LEAST I can recall where a "repeat the spot" sequence was forced to take place.
-
If you think about it Goldberg and Brock's credibility were really shot tonight. Brock tapped TWICE.
-
I can see the finish as passable if the WWE is REALLY banking on a 1 on 1 big drawing main event for later. I don't think it will draw or be any good, so I wish Goldberg would have won the title (which is pretty much inevitable)) on the highest point he could have. That would have been quite an emotional finish. (As if it already weren't). I think I got upset mostly over the fact that I really enjoyed it, and I was really digging Goldberg. You can crucify me for that all you want, but I felt he looked great tonight. He used few moves (very few), but no one besides Jericho used more than 5, I'm almost positive. It was a well booked BRAWL. The match was just so hot and everything was laid out perfect for an emotional golberg title victory, it would have been just a fitting end. It does make ME want to see them square off 1 on 1, though, so I can understand the logic, I just hated that finish to a nice hot brawl.

You truly could not feel the surprise/anger unless you watched the match. The match was VERY well booked up until that point. Those Pheonix fans were chanting Goldberg the WHOLE match and he was dad last out. He demolished EVERYONE. Shawn and Jericho both did clean jobs following Orton going down to a spear alone. There is no reason why HHH couldn't have done a Rocky job (get his ass kicked and take leave). He could have come back months later and it would not have hurt him at all. I think they'll throw the belt on Gberg at Unforgiven perhaps, but , no matter whn they do it, it will never be as awesome and heated as it could have been there. I literally jumped out of my seat. Goldberg was utilized perfectly in the match and did everything flawlessley. Hats off to him even after the match for taking a seriously stiff beating. I really thought he finally shined here. Sad finish. Just sad.
-
Damn, that is quite and impressive job by Gowan. Hats off.
-
Taker's blade job for Brock in the Cell was the best of the last few yars in my opinion. Back on the subject of Brock squashing jobbers, I would hope that if he wins the title he would sport the belt and come and demolish someone the following Smackdown to assert his dominance as champion.

What match is going to be on last at Summerslam?
Just call me Dan replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
Well, we don't know that for sure. To the best of my recollection, he's never had a PPV match before, and you know how WWE likes to save the best work for the PPVs, so maybe they're hiding what Orton can really do until Summerslam. I think that SS will be a defining moment in Randy Orton's career, if only because it has to be. He's in the main event of the 2nd-biggest PPV of the year, and it's only his first-ever "big" match. It's very possible that he could bust out some sick stuff that none of us could ever have pictured him doing, and maybe even change our whole perspective of him. Hell, the Elimination Chamber match could be a classic if all 6 participants just went in there and gave 'er. We know that HHH, HBK, Goldberg and even Nash have it in them to pull off some excellent matches; the only question is if they do so. There's a little part of me inside that wishes, if only for one show, that a few of the guys constantly ragged on here (example: Nash, Test, La Rez, etc.) would go out there and pull off a **** or better match, just to show us smart marks up. That's why I still watch RAW: to see if maybe, just maybe, they can do something that'll make us say "You know, I may hate (insert name of smark whipping boy) a lot, but damn... that was good." Maybe this Sunday is the time. Maybe. Wow, I really like your optimistic views! Sounds a lot like me. I'm going to have to be a dopwner about it, though, because I saw the 1st Elimination chamber, and, besides the cool finish, the match sucked ass, IMO. This match requires a lot of BIG bumps( at least in the WWE eyes ). They are more than likely going to try and set up some big spots. The ONLY guy in there who might be able to bump hard and make it look good would be Orton. They tried to get shawn to bounce around on the steel last timne, and he physically can't, so it looked bad. If they build this match up by telling a story and make the fanbs WANT to see each new guy unlocked, it could be good. I, for one, HATED the 1st chamber match and I think the booking with call for a BUNCH of big spots that maybe only 2 guys in the match could properly take. Chances are they'll try and get one of the other 4 to try it. -

Well, Dammit bob can't have all the fun correcting people! (Most notably me) The nWo formed at BATB 96 a couple of months or so after Hall first surfaced. So, I believe that show would probably be in late '96 or early '97 you are remembering. -
No, Zack said he WOULD eventually break those rules and be banned by midnight. I said I was starting a pool to see how long before he did something to get banned(and I said tomorrow, Stennick, don't let me down). I haven't seen anyone calling for the guy getting banned honestly. I think you had some pent up aggression and just saw what looked like a oppertunity to vent, but it was aimed at the wrong subject. If you have read the guys post, he said his intention was to follow Inc around and flame him. We were just discussing how long until he did this and got banned. Perhaps you are right. I'm not really participating in this whole Stennick thing because it has nothing to do with me, so I was just browsing to see what was going on, and while skimming picked up on the wrong note. Obviously most of the posts were jokes (your starting a pool about when exactly he'd be banned was not the kind of thing I was referring to) I personally think the guy will be banned soon , as well. Don't mind my nit-picking, carry on! Oh, and ripper, thank you for actually responding to my posts rather than the usual no selling.

Right, but what do you do and what does it teach you when vince says you need to weigh at least 235?
-
The reason I said that is because I have seen it from others and not just chave's last post. I believe Zack Malibu was boasting about him breaking rules 5 and 8, and others saying its obviously time for a banning. In no way am I stirring the pot here or calling anyone out, I just seemed to get that same recurring theme of when one poster pisses a bunch of others off, everyone feels they should form spome kind of banning militia. Previous posts such as Dr. Tom's show that its clearly noticed and under control. Sorry if I seem like a stiff, it just caught my eye, and if I'm wrong, so be it.
-
If someone can get banned for calling Tiff a "cunt", surely this is ban-worthy. OMG BAN PLZ~! I'm not defending the guy whatsoever here, but isn't this kind of stuff EXACTLY what Dames didn't want everyone doing when he talked to us about the banning of the last few trolls? It seems like EVERYONE just starts calling for someone to be banned and pointing out HIS rules so that he is almost forced into doing something he may not want. I think the Mods here know the board and its rules pretty well and they'll ban him when necessary. All this calling for someone to be banned and being serious is ridiculous.

Oh God absolutely. I was a big mark for HHH at the time, and this was the last Smackdown before the Royal Rumble '02 where he wrestled for the 1st time on television since the quad tear. I got to watch Austin do his beer toasting and laugh at Hunter doing his water spit with beer (GOD he sucked as a face). Not to mention DDP was re-instated and gave the Cutter to Bossman in probably his last televised match. Great event live and it featured a hilarious Booker/Angle segment. VERY enjoyable. -
IMO, Benoit's ring presence and experience would really have to flaw this. I don't think Benoit should have just played the dumb face and gone right after Vince. Can't you see this coming a mile away? Benoit is the same guy who slaps his opponents hands away when they try and pick him up off the mat. He doesn't conform with the rest of the idiots and just stand up, and let the guy kicking his ass just lead the way. I HATE the fact that McMahon was involved in any way. Benoit could have easily decided to go for the Headbutt again instead of pinning Austin. He may have wasted valuable time there, which would have made it easy for Austin to nip that one in the bud and move out of the way. He then could have continued selling while Benoit was staggered in as well, and then they could have gotten up as if it were a stalemate and finished the match with a clean Stunner. If the announcers were worth a shit at the time they could point out Benoit having missed the headbutt twice in the match and that if he had hit that the match could have easily gone in his favor. Sorry about the fantasy booking, but I don't like the quickness of Austin's win after the suplexes (basically saying a man should be coherent after being suplexed on his neck 10 times). In summary, I am REALLY sick of every heel turn that is big involving Vince. I can't wait for them to rinse and repeat this finish at Summerslam with Brock and Angle because of thier lack of creativity.

I would absolutely LOVE to ba able to say I graduated from the Dungeon. I'm assuming Bret will take that over or already has since Stu can barely move?

Ultimate Warrior Removed From Smackdown
Just call me Dan replied to BoboBrazil's topic in Video Games
Damn! Why? Hellwig must have been able to secure his rights to the "Warrior" part of the name or something. Couldn't he have just been Ultimate? -
I think that would have hurt the match, because of direct involvement of Vince. He wasn't really factored into the finish with any offense, and Benoit lost because of his won mistake, not because Vince MADE him lose.
