Most of the negative reviews blame Begins for covering ground that was already "covered" in Batman 1989 even though it was clearly not covered. All you had for Batman's origin was a short flashback of his parents' murder and then all of a sudden he's Batman. Also, have those critics actually watched Batman 1989 recently? It has aged horribly.
I just finished downloading it and now I know why those 140 minutes went by so incredibly fast in the theaters. The version I have doesn't appear to have anything missing and it's only around 100 minutes.
edit: Nevermind, it's missing a ton of stuff. Mainly the whole first appearance of Batman and pretty much all the way to the Flass interrogation. I still don't understand how fast this movie went though. It really did not feel like 140 minutes at all when I was in the theater.
The animated series mispronounced it unless you're looking at Ra's Al Ghul as a completely original name made up for Batman. If you look at it as "the demon's head" in Arabic then the correct pronunciation is Rahz.
Hasn't the show always been like that? I remember watching the first two seasons when they first came out and mainly remembering the constant flashbacks that had nothing to do with the actual plots of the episodes.
There was also the bit in Naked Gun with the shot of Drebin's feet playing hop scotch and then walking off of pavement onto grass and his inner monologue saying "...And where the hell was I?"
Damn the episode really sucked in the beginning but things like the petercopter, the hindenpeter, Peter punching that kid, Adam West, and the reference to the ending/beginning of Rocky III/IV were awesome.
What exactly are you saying? I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, I really don't understand your post. I don't think they ever tried to tell anyone that Ra's and Crane weren't villains.

There are a lot of spoilers though. You get to see stage 2 Batman without cgi and some other scenes.
Most of the complaints of the film are about the editing of the fights but after watching the HBO special, it looks fine. The fast editing actually makes it better in my opinion. Just look at the intensity in the fight with Ra's and Bruce. Also, finally seeing a better transition of Scarecrow's mask was awesome. Here's the link again if you missed it.
