The Indians are dead to me.

Come on, it's not even close. You're up by 20 or something.
-
Yeah I saw that number too. Holy shit was exactly what I was thinking when TSN put the other one out there. Crazy to think that he got that without an agent. Ted Leonsis has never exactly been allergic to spending money on big names (see: Jagr, Jaromir). That contract is insane. $9 million a season for the first 6 years, $10 million per for the next seven. They'd better hope the cap goes way up, or else Washington is going to be in the basement for the foreseeable future.

I have everyone's list on an Excel sheet. No one had Sir Edmund Hillary this year.

Honestly, whether you like them or hate them, a Super Bowl without the Pats is going to be awfully boring. Of course, we also won't have to endure two weeks of Pats hype, so I guess it's six of one, half dozen of the other.
-
I'm not surprised. I remember hearing rumours about this a month or two ago. Leipold still wanted to own a hockey team, just not the one he actually owned.

Ouch, I get the 8-9 matchup. I might still have a winnable contest in the second round if I get that far, who knows. For anyone having trouble voting in my matchup, remember that I run the TSM Death Pool, and NYU started a vote for me thread. That's all. Indiana Basin Silt Region Milky - Duh. Man in Blak - He usually has pretty intelligent posts. Ripper - I don't agree with him a lot of the time, but he knows his stuff. bigolsmitty - Because I wanted to vote for a massive underdog somewhere. Dr. Venkman - Because he earned my respect by beating me last year. CG - This was tough, because Nightwing's one of the 2 or 3 best new posters, but I have to go with fellow Canucks. Cena's Writer - Even though he didn't vote for me. kkk - For running the kkk Bowl, even though I sucked ass this year. Help, I'm a Rock Region King Kamala Classic - The exception to the fellow Canucks rule. CanadianChris - Vote for me, I did. King - Good hockey poster, and a fellow Laker fan. KOAB - Why not. Slayer - He's good people. Carnival - Because I hate following the herd. Cyber Mark Madden treble - I like him as a Jays fan more than I hate him as a Leafs fan. Culture Beat Region Czech - Is Timmy the one with the Borat avatar? Alfdogg KingPK - Because of his signature. snuffbox - I don't know much about either of them, so I went with the upset. Vitamin X - Good football poster. Youth N Asia El Dandy Bob Barron - Where'd he go, anyway? Powderfinger Region Black Lushus - Obvious. My pick to win it all, or flame out spectacularly in the second round. Bored - For giving me a crack at his money every year. Spaceman Spiff - For being my personal punching bag in the BoredCS for so many years. Edwin - One of my favourite posters. alkeiper - PIMP DADDY~! Cheech - Never disappoints. Smues - I like Alaskans. Scroby - I like him better than Marvin, who's actually not a bad poster when he's not posting about the Ravens.

The nominations, although I didn't stumble onto the tournament itself last year until the end of the first round.
-
Pimp Daddy Al is going to take some getting used to.
-
Wow, I miss this every single year.

For Sportsman's Park, I would've also included October 1, 1944, where the Browns completed a four-game sweep of the Yankees with a 5-2 win, and clinched their only AL pennant in St. Louis on the last day of the season. They also drew over 35,000 fans, which I think was a record for the Browns.
-
I wouldn't judge the Gladiators based on the first couple of shows. If they get a second season (and I'm thinking they will), then we can start ripping them if they still suck.

The Big East's strength is a bit of an illusion because there are so many teams, several of which are pretty bad. Sagarin actually has the Pac 10 as the best conference, with eight out of ten teams in the top 50...the Big East also has eight teams in the top 50, but 8/16 doesn't look nearly as good as 8/10. According to Sagarin, it's Pac 10, Big XII, ACC and Big East, in that order, with the ACC and Big East virtually dead even.

I actually read the story behind this when I was a kid. Ehmke knew this would probably be his only chance to pitch in a World Series, so he made a plea to Mack. Mack agreed, and sent him to scout the Cubs during the last week of the season so he'd be well-prepared for his start.
-
Ebbets Field. I'd probably get a chuckle out of the list for Sportsman's Park, too.
-
He's actually second in goals, behind Mike Green of the Capitals. But why must we pick elite defencemen based on how many goals they score or how many points they get? That's not the measure of a good defenceman. There's never going to be another Bobby Orr.

Will McDonough is looking down on this entire debacle and laughing his deceased ass off.

Rickey is on the ballot next year, which will probably hurt the chances of Rice getting in. But next year is Rice's last year on the ballot, so I expect a strong campaign to get him in.
-
YES! Gossage should have gotten in ages ago. Unfortunately, Rice will be getting in next year. I just don't get it.

All-Star starting lineups are out: East: F - Sidney Crosby, Pit F - Vincent Lecavalier, TB F - Daniel Alfredsson, Ott D - Andrei Markov, Mtl (WTF???????) D - Zdeno Chara, Bos G - Martin Brodeur, NJ West: F - Henrik Zetterburg, Det F - Pavel Datsyuk, Det F - Jarome Iginla, Cgy D - Niklas Lidstrom, Det D - Dion Phaneuf, Cgy G - Roberto Luongo, Van

I think Emery's safe because absolutely no one trusts Martin Gerber to be a Cup-calibre goalie.
-
The AP is reporting that Joe Gibbs is resigning as coach and president of the Redskins.
-
But he was SCARY! No one wanted to face him! Pitchers cowered in abject terror when he stepped to the plate! Or something. At least we only have to hear about him for one more year when he doesn't get in today.
-
I'd put the Atlantic 10 on a par with C-USA and the Mountain West (and maybe the Missouri Valley). They're all solid 2nd-tier conferences that usually have a couple of pretty good teams, and occasionally a top-5 team (See: UMass, St. Joe's, Memphis). They'll almost always get more than one team into the tournament. I consider a true Cinderella conference to be one that almost always sends only one team to the tournament.

Yeah, B12 deficiency is pretty rare among anyone under 65, and that's the only reason you'd need a B12 injection. He'd have to have had a deficiency all along.
