I don't think I need an answer any more detailed than, "Because Eli Manning is at quarterback." -

I guess they figured they could have about a minute left if they held the Browns without a first down, since they still had all their timeouts. Or they could miss about 6 tackles and let Lewis waltz into the end zone. -

I probably would have had this one were it not for Tennessee folding like a cheap tent and/or Denver running up the score. 2-11.

That's it. Hello, 16-0. -
Wouldn't Johan have been facing one of the best offences in baseball, then, too?

Third-stringer/practice squad guy for Minnesota for the last 5 years. He led Maryland to the ACC title and Orange Bowl in 2001. I love this line in his Wiki article -- "He took his first career snaps with the Minnesota Vikings on the final two plays of the 2005 NFL season, taking a knee both times." -

I find it funny that a fan of a team that's won five Super Bowls is giddy over clinching a division title. -

I can't believe that's the only replay angle they have on Chambers' catch in the SD/Ten game. There's no way that didn't hit the ground. -

And Volek tosses an interception the first play after a 25-yard punt return to near midfield. Lolz. -
Hm, first game I've missed in five years. At least it didn't hurt me any, since I was taking Chicago regardless. Denver - 23 Jacksonville Dallas Miami N.Y. Giants Green Bay Pittsburgh Tennessee Cincinnati Tampa Bay Seattle Minnesota Cleveland Denver Indianapolis New Orleans

What a useless moron. Newsflash: I'd rather read about 95% of what's on the internet than read the drivel that flows from the pen of a "trained" "expert" like Screaming A. Smith. Asshole.

Pretty soon. I think I announced the pool in mid-December last year. Anyone have any suggestions for changes to the scoring? I was somewhat disappointed in how the pool went this year (of course, that's probably because I've yet to score).

What part was crap, exactly? The "controversial" holding call was clearly holding, just not on the intended receiver -- one of the receivers was wearing a Ravens defender like a cheap suit. Every reasonable person who's commented on the game has said that. (The crappy part was probably that it had been going uncalled all game, which was ridiculous.) There wasn't enough evidence to overturn the TD catch, and the same would have been true if it was called incomplete. The two unsportsmanlike penalties were due to Bart Scott completely losing his shit and forgetting to act like a professional. And for all the Ravens' bitching about the refs, they conveniently forget that they were almost given the game on a silver platter on the last play by not calling offensive pass interference on Derrick Mason. The refs didn't call the moronic timeout on fourth and 1. The refs didn't throw a boneheaded interception deep in Patriots territory in the fourth quarter. And the refs didn't call the most ridiculous series of plays late in the game when even ONE FIRST DOWN would have completely iced it. So yeah, I think the Ravens should shut the hell up.

Still first in the conference. Still five up in the Northeast. I'm not worried (yet). They got enough of a cushion in October that they can ride out a prolonged losing streak.

Travis Henry won his appeal of a positive test for marijuana. That's huge with Selvin Young injured. -
I picked the wrong poker legend to die this year. I had Doyle Brunson, and Chip Reese passed away from pneumonia last night.
-
I hope he tells them to shut the hell up.

This deserves its own thread separate from the weekly thread. Announcement will be somewhere around 7:50 pm on fox (or whenever The O.T. is over). I'm interested to see what the consensus championship game would be if made by TSM. Vote for two (and only two) teams in the above poll.

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out why the Pats have struggled the last two weeks -- they went up against two teams with a good pass rush that could put pressure on Brady. They didn't face anything like that in the first ten weeks, either because of lack of personnel or poor game-planning. Pittsburgh has the number-one pass defence in the NFL, and they will definitely give them a game next week. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see them win it.

It looked like Scott wanted to take a swing at him.

I hate the Ravens. Absolutely loathe them.
