Of all the funny trophies in rivalry games (e.g. the Old Oaken Bucket, Paul Bunyan's Axe), the Louisville/Cincinnati Keg of Nails ranks right up there.
-
Cincinnati made a goal-line stand. Now all they have to do is go 99 yards in 36 seconds. EDIT: Interception, game over.

That was one of the biggest bonehead plays ever at the end of the Cal game. The Cal freshman QB doesn't throw the ball away in FG range, but takes off and gets tackled in bounds with 7 seconds left. Tedford looked a bit pissed.

? Why would he? Or is this some of that sarcasm that doesn't work over the internet. Well, their GM whose name escapes me, has a habit of firing coaches before the playoffs start. I figured the Devils are at their slowest start in awhile, heads would start rolling soon. I remember now.. Lou Lamerello. There is no job security if you are coaching under him. Uh, Julien was fired last season, and is now coaching the Bruins. Brent Sutter is coaching the Devils, and I doubt he's getting fired only five games into a new contract.

I can't believe that score went over 70. They went nuts in the second half.

If A-Rod doesn't win the real award unanimously, I'll be stunned. Or I would if I didn't already think a lot of the writers are idiots.

So are we looking at a top 3 of Ohio State, Boston College and South Florida? South Florida is really going to be ranked #3 in the country?
-
Two of their three losses came to the best team in the league. Why does something have to be wrong with them?
-
The team's not much good, so I doubt anytime soon. Scotty Bowman couldn't get this team to the playoffs.
-
Could be a shuffle at the top this week. teke184 and Hawk 34 are both on the verge of losing.
-
Wikipedia says it is, and who are we to doubt Wiki?

I'm very happy with all the success the Senators are having with the Rangers early in the season, since I think New York is going to be one of the teams to beat in the East this year.
-
And now Cal's only up on the Beavers at home by a point at halftime. This is going to make for a really interesting discussion in six weeks or so. King's right, no one is going undefeated this season.

Man, I can't believe Hawaii won that game. They might (should) still drop in the rankings, but not out of the top 25 completely.
-
28-14 now. Hope you enjoyed your stay in the top 25, Hawaii, you won't be back this season.

I'n surprised they didn't intentionally walk Torrealba to get to the pitcher with two outs. And I was thinking that even before Torrealba got the base hit.

I know something like 40 cable companies carry WWF 24/7 although I dont know how many actually subscribe. But, if it were put on a sports tier of a cable/satellite company, all of their subscribers would pay for it regardless of whether or not they watch the channel at all. Good example is NFL Network which charges cable/sat companies $.75 a subscriber, which some saw as too high, but eventually its carried now to almost 60 million households. If those 40 cable companies + Directv and Dish (which are roughly 20 million subs alone and dont offer 24/7 yet) add WWENet (or whatever the hell Vince called it) I could see about 40 million subscribers. 40 million subscribers x $.15 a subscriber (a really low price for a cable channel) would $6 million a month alone (or $18 million per quarter) not counting advertising rates that they wouldnt have to share or take a small cut of. WWF made $24 million in the 2nd quarter this year on their tv deal and it looks like that will be lower given the USA deal getting lowered. Granted I dont know all the details of how much it would cost to run the network but still.. I saw the general figure to set up a cable network is $100 million, however I do believe that the WWF probably has the equipment already in place to do it so they could probably save 1/2 of that easily. The NFL Network is a terrible example, as they're only able to charge what they do because they're the exclusive carrier for several NFL games and can put the squeeze on carriers through their huge audience of fans that want to see the games. WWE has no such leverage.

Is Gagne trying to get a save situation going for Papelbon?

I finally get to see the vaunted Hawaii offence, and are they ever stinking it up.

I don't know that you'd want Willis. The last two seasons have kind of soured me on him. His walks are going completely in the wrong direction.

Geez, Papi hit .714 against the Angels? Even for three games, that's insane.

On the heels of the Downie suspension, the Flyers' Jesse Boulerice got 25 games for cross-checking Ryan Kesler in the face. That's the longest suspension in league history. I think we're going to see at least one more longest suspension in league history before the end of this season.
