Ottawa's about to get handed their first loss by the Hurricanes. Gerber has looked quite shaky, and all three goals have come on big rebounds. That's the danger with Gerber when the defencemen have an off night. Ray Emery is going to Binghamton for a rehab stint this weekend. He'll play two games and will likely return to Ottawa next week. With Elliott looking as good as he has in his limited play, I'm not as concerned with the goaltending situation once the inevitable Gerber trade goes through later this season (I hope).

I wouldn't say abysmal, but I've heard him several times before and he's certainly not one of my favourites.

If UCLA does beat Oregon and Cal and lose to USC, they'd be co-Pac-10 champions with Oregon and Cal, holding the tiebreaker, if USC beats Cal and loses to Oregon. EDIT: Corrected the original post. That sure is a lot of guesswork. Especially for a team that just lost to Notre freakin' Dame. I'm with you there. I don't see UCLA beating either of those teams, much less both of them, even if they do get them both at home.

There's a lot of sucktitude in that set of bowls.

Regardless of whether Michigan/App State was more competitive than, say, Michigan/Temple would have been, the line still would have been huge, because Vegas would know everyone would pile on Michigan against any I-AA school. I'm thinking something on the order of about seven touchdowns. I've seen 49-point lines several times in early-season squashes. But yes, I can see how it might not be the stupidest idea ever, even thought I personally disagree.

NFL Week 6: The Bills Could Not Pay Their Way To A Win
CanadianChris replied to Nate's topic in Sports
Come on, that's nothing. It's even a little funny. -
It's a fallacious argument, though, because Michigan/App State didn't have a line, as is the norm for interdivisional games. I'm getting less and less interested in ever getting ESPN up here, from the sounds of things.

I'm obviously biased, but Robbie Alomar's game-tying HR off Eckersley in Game 4 in 1992, capping a five-run comeback off the game's most dominant closer, should be on that list. Alomar raising his arms skyward after the swing is still a memorable image.

Loved the belt, and the idea of Winnie Cooper in a threesome, but isn't it a little creepy to be telling your kids the story of your first threesome?

Price isn't the only goalie making his league debut tonight. Brian Elliott is getting the start for Ottawa against the Thrashers. Next year's season opener will be Senators vs. Penguins in Prague. I hate the Thrashers' uniforms.

Red Sox in 5, Rockies in 6.

NFL Week 6: The Bills Could Not Pay Their Way To A Win
CanadianChris replied to Nate's topic in Sports
Yeah, I think it starts in week 10. -
Actually, there is; it's eight years. Which is why all the East German (wo)men still have their medals. The USOC is also talking about stripping the medals of everyone on the relay teams she raced on, which is really ridiculous.

Really, this looks like a pretty crappy week of football. NE/DAL and maybe WSH/GB are the only ones that really interest me. -
No, that's just his wife.

You mean he isn't already?

I'm wondering if they do it on purpose, like an Easter egg.

The WNBA is a nothing league that is hemorrhaging money, whose average attendance has dropped every year since 1998 (its second season), and only still exists because David Stern refuses to admit defeat and fold it. The players don't deserve to be shit on, but the execs sure do.

Four picks in the first half? Who's behind center for Dallas, Joey Harrington?

Does Green Bay not want to win this game? They've looked extremely sloppy all night.

It's HHH, what the hell were you expecting?
