Boston will clinch the AL's best record if Cleveland can't come back against KC.
-
Not only did I get beat, I sucked complete ass this week. My run of 30 consecutive weeks in the top 10 looks to be at an end.
-
Is there some news about this? I can't imagine Luongo not being one of the top 2 goalies unless he didn't want to go.
-
No. Niedermayer was officially suspended for not reporting to camp, and Selanne is a UFA. I've heard rumours one or both of them may pull a Clemens and come back mid-season.
-
Kings are looking good. I definitely see them making the postseason this year.
-
Looks like the Mets are going to make Philly earn it. I don't think even the Mets bullpen is going to blow an 8-0 lead.

We're 12 days away from the the first preseason game, 33 days from the start of the regular season (featuring both conference champions inexplicably opening on the road --- good fucking job, NHL schedule-makers!). So, time to try and predict where the 2007-08 hockey season is going to go. Post all predictions/previews/whatever here, as well as all preseason news, and answer me these questions 20: 1. Who will win the Hart Trophy? 2. Who will win the Vezina Trophy? 3. Who will win the Calder Trophy? 4. Who will win the Art Ross Trophy? 5. Who will win the Richard Trophy? 6. What team had the best offseason? 7. What team had the worst offseason? 8. Which team will be the most improved over last year? 9. Which team will be the biggest disappointment? 10. What was the best offseason move? 11. What was the worst offseason move? 12. Who will make the playoffs that didn't last year? 13. Who will not make the playoffs that did last year? 14. Who would make your All-NHL first team? 15. Who will be the division winners? 16. Eastern Conference Final: 17. Western Conference Final: 18. Stanley Cup Final: 19. Who will win the Conn Smythe Trophy? 20. Make one bold prediction.

Depends on how you look at it. Last year, they were 7-4 and just hoping to play spoiler. This year, that win gives them realistic Big East title hopes, and maybe even a glimmer of hope of sneaking into the national title picture with some favourable results from other teams.
-
South Florida now has the inside track to the Big East title. Unbelievable. And did I see the crew take down the goalposts before the students could tear them down? I've never seen that before.
-
Also, Arizona has clinched a playoff spot.
-
I'm sure Downie's reputation as an immature and dirty player didn't help him any with the league office.
-
The whole point is that the usual suspension for a hit so vicious should never have been a game or two in the first place. And as McAmmond said himself, he doesn't have a concussion issue, he has a "guys trying to take his head off" issue.

It's mind-boggling that the Mets were 99.4% to make the playoffs just two weeks ago, and now sit at just over 50%.
-
After seeing Myers tonight, I wouldn't be surprised to see footage of him ripping his shirt off and flexing like a maniac in the Phillies locker room a la Danny Jackson. He certainly seems like the type.
-
On the Mets game, they just showed the number of complete games in the majors from 1986-2006. This is incredible: 1986: 579 complete games 1991: 366 1996: 290 2001: 199 2006: 144

But he loaded the team up the season before to win a World Series. He should be given credit for that. Jerry Colangelo did virtually the same thing in Arizona four years later.
-
No amount of money will guarantee anything, so why spend any money at all? $100 mil will get you into the playoffs a lot more often than not, especially if you have a good GM.

Ah yes, the worst Vegas advice ever given: Shit, you might as well go to Salt Lake City with that advice.

Are you serious? Steinbrenner turns a profit on the Yankees, even with the gigantic payroll. He's among the very few owners able to do so. I don't think Steinbrenner is one of the worst owners in sports, but don't make it sound as if he's nobly sacrificing millions of his own dollars to try and bring a winner to New York.

Wasn't that Sean Mcdonough that made the call? Yes, it was. That was the last baseball game televised by CBS.

It's week 4.

No, it was always supposed to be Hart vs. Austin vs. Vader vs. Taker. Michaels was supposed to defend against Sid on the same show.
